Don't be disappointed, because your french is already very good, and the interview was great. and as a french person I admire both of you for having done so much to restore this Relais/Chateau in such a short period. Especially when you bought it and it was dirty, and in an advanced state of disrepair. A thousand time Bravo !
The summer kitchen is awesomely beautiful! The reception looked lovely. Wow, that is a very long time for the electricity to be off. Oh my goodness, that is a very long time!!! So sorry .
Oh Leesa, sweetheart! You did a great job! Don't be so hard on yourself! 💔 Im a Canadian with a smattering of French and I understood almost everything you said! ❤️
félicitation ,et n' ayez pas peur de parler en Français faite vous confiance .Vous avez tellement de passion de bonne humeur et de positivité à donner aux autres .et puis nous aimons ce petit accent charmant
Your interview was fabulous. Don’t be so hard on yourself. The French will be thrilled that you tried. Do you have a power bank that’s solar like a Jackery ?
I think you were brilliant!. The majority of it was in French. You were so composed and looked calm. Don’t be too hard on yourself. You did great. This is going to be a great push for you all’ in the French market. Congratulations to you and keep it up. Lots of love from Florida.
Mmm we need a plan B re power then! Solar panels? I bet the romance of no lights will be chatted about for years to come💞 Wishing the couple every joy....and of course you too. xx
What a brave lady to agree to an interview in French! So much pressure and you seemed very composed. Switching between English and French worked very well...Canada is officially bilingual ( French and English )so what ever language is spoken, an attempt to speak your second language is appreciated. Lisa and Ted, you're great role models on how to " roll with the punches ". ♥️🇨🇦.
I thought your interview was great! I am so proud of you and Ted has done to bring this historic and awesome place back to life. All the best to you and Ted. Love following you all.
You did a terrific job in the interview! People got to hear your love and passion for your chateau! Your grandson will love the pool! The decorations for the wedding look lovely! The wedding reception looked wonderful! You pulled it together really well, even in the dark.I'm sure the couple will have fun stories to tell about the wonderful reception! Your day out looked fabulous!! Love from Vermont
Chateau de Lacelle use Eckoflow generator may sponsor the product and get the use for such occasions plus piggery work. My goodness you are tested but bounce back in a well deserved pool to cool off. Reminder everyone to subscribe and like this great vlog and Ted and Lesa.
You did a great job for your first French interview! Cut yourself some slack. Hopefully this will generate more publicity for the chateau. The wedding reception looked lovely, the pool inviting, and your adventures with Edward fun. You may consider having a number of generators in hand incase of the electricity being shut off in purpose or a storm cutting power out. Also have a lot of pillar candles to put in glass hurricane lamps for the same reasons as well as for decorating for weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties, etc. I am always a planner…what if this happens, then what do I do. Great job guys!!! 👍🏻🥰🙏
I sure hope you figured out how to save the meat. I think you are very brave to have done the interview - next time will be better. Your community obviously loves you.
I think you did very well and I would be very happy to be able to speak so confidently in French. Well done you. What a shame about the electricity and hope you can recoup the loss of your wasted food.
Just completed watching 142 + episodes of yours a loved it , this is what I wanted to do for years ,but now at 74 , it would be a challenge too far , the best of luck to you both, I am really envious of you , all the signs are there for success xx
OH goodness - the electricity issue is so stressful. Good thing your interview went well because there is always something good in a difficult situation. You really did a great job with the reception! 😊
What a pair of little troopers you are. Lisa I dont speak french but you sounded good to me and very brave lol. So glad you had power for the wedding, maybe it would be good at a later date get a large generator. I'm sure if your a business and the power is going to be off for a few day you can hire a generator then charge EDF for it. As for you learning french Ted why dont you and Lisa have an hour a day when you only speak to each other in french. Xxx love you guys. Xxx
What a lovely surprise, I love it when a vlog just pops up What a worry having no electricity sometimes your contents insurance covers for food in fridges and freezers. Can't you have a big bbq you have your gas to cook on advertise at a cheap price at least the meat won't go to waste. What a disaster I can't believe it. I must say though Ted had me in stitches when he said (what do they need the toilet for) 😅😅😅😅
Glad you are getting the recognition you deserve You have made spectacular progress; I look forward to watching your journey. I have been a subscriber since day one. Good for you!
A power outage here after a big storm had us scurrying to cook all the frozen food and drive some elsewhere. Hope you can create a back up plan to prevent future unforeseen outages. All the best. The paddling pool was a hit. The amount you two are accomplishing in the last 2.5 years is so beautiful!
I think you did really well in your interview. My French is not great understanding more than I can speak. Well done. I hope they sorted the lecky and you didn’t loose any of your deep freezers
I have been studying French for the last 9 months in preparing to move. You did great! I understood what you were saying and it was mostly in French. You are really hard on yourself. I am so very sorry about the electricity with the loss of so much meat. I am beginning to think solar systems with storage batteries may be in all our futures. I sure hope the insurance covers your losses.
You were too hard on yourself about the interview. You were your sunny, bright, and articulate self. I hope all your meat didn’t spoil! Our well pump went out on a Saturday. No water til Monday. That was a bummer. We used 5 gallon buckets to flush toilets. Well life goes on. Thanks for always being upbeat and hopeful. Mary
Your interview was fabulous. You spoke more French than English from what we saw. Of course you would stumble whilst passionate about the subject, but that your passion shows is perfect. They will no doubt dub your English words or even use subtitles. Honestly, be happy. You know your French has and will improve - same for Ted because you are determined. Hope your subscribers double, quadruple.... Best wishes from Australia.
So sorry to hear about your electricity problems! When we had ours off due to a power cut a few years ago, we received a cheque to cover the costs of all food we had lost from the electricity board. We just had to give them a list of what was in our freezers and fridge. So keep the invoice from when you bought all of your freezer and fridge contents and prepare a full list of everything else along with approx. Weights and costs to you. Also, you should be able to claim for not being able to serve any food over the breakdown period and until you can clear your freezers etc. and replace what you have lost. Even better if you can show what you took the week or two before over the same period. Good luck - it was their fault you lost it all so they should pay and usually acknowledge that without too much trouble.
No you was not rubbish that was great interview it’s a lot on your mind no don’t be disappointed publicity gets the dollars 🏹🏹👏👏🖖omg that pool dive hilarious loved it, aww the damm electricity terrible
You did well Lesa in your French radio interview good job it wasnt Ted🤣 Oh what a bummer no electric hope you can claim for all you have lost, Can you not also claim for loss for business interruption? Still at least you had quality time with your grandson Lesa x
You may already have solved this problem, but just in case… Having lived for many years in a place where the power sometimes went off, I can tell you how we solved the light problem. Freezers are another thing and the answer there is having emergency generators or the wonderful battery thingys that the family at Chateau Lalacelle have as does Dan Preston at Chateau de Chaumont. They are all very, very nice and would be helpful to you I am sure. As to light, the cheap, and really perfect answer is camping lanterns - two for each bedroom and maybe something like five for a space like your tea room. In the US you would buy the Coleman lanterns or from LL Bean. They last forever, give great light, have big carrying handles and the batteries are reasonably priced and last for a couple of years if only used for sporadic power outages. And they come in red! Freezers and heat are, as I said, a bear, but I sure am impressed by the ones the châteaus are using - for huge amounts of power.
your interview was fine. as to the power cut and outage.... not much of a choice but to keep everything closed up.... or possibly offer the frozen meats to your friends and neighbours at a sale price....
You always pull through and keep going, you two are the best vlog for determination. It's the knocks that make us stronger, now stop, you have had your share, lol. Wishing you all the best and success. Just a thought, how about merchandise, I bought your mug and it's proudly on my kitchen counter. A little piece of France and Chateau De Montmagner.
What a lovely reception, sorry about the electricity problem! Can you use the generator alternately between the freezers like for 2 hours one then 2 hours the other, back and forth? Seems that would keep it all frozen, especially if you wrapped the freezers in blankets and didn't open them? Just an idea... thanks for your courageous and positive spirit! Hi from WallaWalla, Washington USA!
I was thinking the same. I am sure they probably did that. They are such a couple of problem solvers. We had power off here for 3 days a few months back. Generator to keep the fridge going, switch over to the water pump to fill up water containers and do the showers, back to fridge, late at night CPAP machine for our guests. What a nightmare. All the best Ted and Lesa.
How terrible to have the drama with the electricity. I do hope that you get compensation from EDF for the spoiled food and also the booking in the apartments that you may have lost.
Also, I thought your interview was charming. You tried. That is what people care about. The French will love you. You are trying and you are caring for their history. What a blessing to them. And look what you have done. The place was falling to bits when you three arrived. In less than two years you have a business, you've saved history, and the place is starting to really shine. Be proud of that. Dont be hard on yourself. Assume Support. Always assume support.
Ok now what about this ice house you need to create near the Lake, just like the olden times. Using lumps of ice taken from the lake in winter to line an underground cellar to store foodstuffs in the summer. Either that or install some photo voltaic panels surreptitiously to generate emergency electricity. You really don't need this stress!
Lesa your French was great! It's not like you've been living in France for years.. Why don't you try to get a jackery (think that's the name! 😜) company to sponsor you!! Would help with power cuts especially with you having the restaurant & rooms.
Time to have grilled foods on the menu eh? And don’t fret too much over your French. I gave up trying for awhile and then tried to learn Spanish. Now I’ve accidentally created a mixture of the two. I guess you could call it Franish or Spench 🤣 Now IM the one who is lost. You’re doing just fine!
I thought you did well in the interview. I am sure they don't expect you to be fully bilingual yet. It will come. My h7sband is spanish and we have been together 23 years this month. I am still not fully bilingual either but I know what him and his mom are saying. So sorry you guys lost the electricity. Hope you were able to save all that meat. I am sure the couple were impressed with you going to the effort and the music sounded lovely. Lisa you remind me of a friend of mine. You both look and sound alike. Take care both. Glad you had some family time. Grand children keep us going.
What happened at the wedding? Did you manage without electricity or did they have to leave? And did you manage to save the content of your freezers? A Jackery, Bluetti or Ecoflow would be a good backup and would save your electricity costs also
Some of the chateaux have Ecoflow battery packs...have a look and talk to the supplier, I think they gifted some chateaux a pack, might help in such emergencies.. How did the food go, were you able to save it?
Sounds like you need to go to a brocante and get backup candles so that if something like that happens you can have a charming candle-lite dinner. And you need to invest in a generator and an icemaker. I hope all worked out for you. I can see what you meant about the zooming in to avoid the camera man, but you did great. It was another great video! 🙂
You did a wonderful job ! I think a good idea to become more fluent is to pick a day or two of the week...lets call it French Friday...and all you speak is French...no English...That way it will also help Ted because if he just wants to talk to himself all day, lol, he'll have no choice but to learn......Ugh...so sorry about the power issue. Maybe future project some kind of solar backup....with the summers getting hotter ...everywhere... I can only imagine it becoming a common issue.
It's heart breaking to think about losing all that food! It's too bad you haven't got a sponsorship with Ecoflow like some of the other chateau channels. I hope it all worked out ok.
I just have my heart with you when I move to the USA I was not having a words of English and 3 young children’s SO different then France culture ! the only thing is Alphabet is the same I made it be patient the electricity is a big problem for you could you install solar panels?
Murphy’s Law, or sod’s law, either way, what a bummer! - it all worked out in the end. Lesa, I thought you were brilliant with the radio interview, don’t beat yourself up about it. I guess your French language teacher could look at the bits where you spoke English, and help tell you what you could have said??? (Advice from someone who has no idea about French speaking, haha). 🤷♀️
oh sweets don’t feel bad, you did great at the interview, what didn’t help was being asked questions in french and english, your far to hard on yourself. stop, breath and think back 2 years, WOW now look how far you have come, we see it :)
Bonjour! I am a newcomer to your channel. I discovered you on the first season of Help We Bought a Village. I then anxiously waited for season two to come out only to find that you barely got any air time! 😞That is when I found your UA-cam channel and told myself I would watch all the videos start to finish when I had the time. I have had time the past couple months and that is what I have been doing! I wasn't planning to comment until I was all caught up, but I HAVE to know what happened with the 5000 euros worth of meat! 😢
@@amyagin Hi Amy, not sure it was €5000, but it was a lot of money. Some was salvageable, but mostly it was lost, thanks for the comment, and thank you for your perseverance in watching all the vlogs, plenty more to come. Great to have you along for the ride 👍
@@ChateauDeMontmagner Thank you for your reply! That is a shame about the lost meat and all that expense. You both work so hard and were just starting to get ahead. Well, I am still almost 2 years behind, so I can't wait to see what you are doing now! ☺
Unfortunately not possible at the moment as "upgraded audio" costs money, and that money needs to be diverted to other projects, we do however, request duly noted
You need to do American canning. You would not waste all your meat. Meat is expensive. Can a canner. Get an outside kitchen or summer kitchen. Get jars and lids. And get busy. This is some of that climate change nonsense! There is no climate change.! You're going to have to invest in Soller panels. Backup generator.
You might want to look into a EVO portable power generator that all the chateau owners are using and are sponsoring on their channels. Check out the Pethericks channel.
Highly recommend watching from the beginning. I did. It helps the viewer appreciate more where they started and the obstacles overcome.

Why can't u do Sunday lunch as u have a gas cooker
No we don't, we have gas hob but electric cooker 😟
2nd comment, well done the French sounded good to me....however the modern crap plastic cupboard let you down
Sorry, not sure what you meant by "crap plastic cupboard"?
@@ChateauDeMontmagner Some glass perspex thing on your right during the interview!!
Where is the beautiful other dog??? We only see one dog.
Both dogs safe and sound
please do upgrade your audio for us always muted poor quality mics

They were sponsored and received them for free
