I think Ted was right the first time. Paint it and move on until you find the right wallpaper to go with those lovely mustard walls. In your heart you know that wallpaper isn't right or it would already be done. Don't compromise now when everything you have done has been stunning and perfect. Paint the wall a neutral color. Trust your instincts. It is the Templar suite and should be the most medieval-y (I made that word up) suite you have. You'll know it when you see it.
I can’t understand why you don’t have many subscribers I have watched your channel from the beginning and I love all your blogs and you two are very funny with your banter also you both are very hard workers. Please keep it up.
Love your hard work and changes at Relais de poste. I could be mistaken but I think the way utube monetizes vlogs if they are 11 minutes long. I notice from escape to the chateau, Dan’s vlogs are usually 12 min. I think he films them all footage together but when editing makes them into six 12 min vlogs released Monday- Sat. I think developing the workshop vlog was brilliant. I think on one vlog you mentioned Ryan came and showed you some video editing. Maybe consider after tourist season, structure reg vlogs with different themes: Renovating Brico Brocantes/used shops Cooking Love to you both and so glad Ted is healed.😊
Great idea here: No on that wallpaper. Paint the wall the color of the stone that’s around the nearby window. Maybe even faux paint it to really match the stone. Lastly, if you paint it the stone color, I can help you faux-paint. It’s definitely light enough, and doesn’t compete with the wall color or your beautiful fabric, or red curtains. 😊👍
I would paint wall the colour of the stone especially if furniture going there .. in the future you can choose. Do a window box seat saving you having to do anything with base.
Maybe an organizer will help with finding small parts. I would certainly own up and report something if it wasn't in good repair not sure why anyone wouldn't. Spraying the weeds on the gravel with salt/vinegar/dish soap solution. A greenhouse might help save funds on growing plants and some provisions for guests. Your pots look great very creative :) I wonder if you incorporated some small pebbles to change some up ;) The garden looks lovely :) Well done Ted and Lesa :) and Mandy :) tip if you buy or receive fresh flowers once they lose their bloom cut the flower part with bulb and put in the ground it might come back either right away for bloom the next spring. You will get there as you are doing well so far and tending to guests is more important. Post videos when you can ;) I would paint that was a stone colour and not bother wallpapering but that's me. Put some prints up or whatever needs to be there and done.
It's a shame people let their children jump on the beds. That is one thing I don't allow in our house, even our grandkids know they'll get in trouble jumping on any of our furniture. Hugs, Kathy USA 🇺🇸
Hi Lesa. The self seeding plant is called Oleander. Here in Turkey we call the Oleander "Zakkum". It loves direct sunlight and it withstand temperatures of between 44c & 46c for the past 3 months where we live. In the summer I water the pant every evening. After flowering, seed pods appear. The seeds will drop from the pods once the pods have dried out. Alternatively, pick the pods when brown and dried out and scatter the seeds, or I save the seeds for the following year and plant them in different areas. The plants do better planted close together, and they make fantastic hedges. My Zakkum are all pink, but you can get white and red also.
My favorite tree in our yard when I was growing up was what we called a mimosas ( the tree with the pink flowers like yours). I lived in Mississippi in the U.S. at the time. I'm thankful for any videos that you have a chance to do. You are at the height of the "busy season." Most people should realize that. I don't see how you get everything done that you get done. Please don't feel bad about renovations you don't quite get done. Please remember to take a bit of time for the two of you.
I think that we all know how busy you both are. Anyone who is running a B and B and trying to renovate and maintain a huge property HAS to be so busy! Thank you for sharing anything that you are doing! I love your videos! You are making a unique place for people to stay. Maybe a wood box that holds the mattress with casters on the bottom would work for the pull out bed. It just would not make into a bigger bed. But it would be kid proof. My husband made a trundle bed like this and it was very sturdy, and kind of cozy for the kids. Please have a good weekend!
Looking at your profile from the start you should have more followers. Best of luck for the future. The place is looking great. Greetings from Ireland.
Coming along really nice well done to you both, by the way I'm 66 and my grandson said you don't wear trainer socks you wear like Ted does long ones ,and no socks is a no no Lisa 🤣🤣
My folks owned a small motel resort in the North Woods of Wisconsin for many years. It was a lot of work for them. They enjoyed every day for the first 10 years. The 'to do' list was often a moving target! We always made time for either boating, swimming, picnicking, shopping, or skiing. Come winter, do your stained glass lessons.
The fun of renting out furnished accommodation. The things that "happen" and are left as little surprises (or not so little surprises). Yesterday, the stair handrail was pulled out of the wall and propped back - as if the next person using it (fortunately me) wouldn't notice as they fell... 🤦♀I admire everyone who does B&B in their home. It is a LOT of work to do day-to-day management, as well as maintenance, as well as improvements. You all must have a kind heart and patience I lack. The planning and renovation part is fun, though.
When it is super hot the Amish farmers drink switzel. 1 gallon water 1 1/2 cups molasses 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Oh I hope you can get that fixed. Lovely. Love how you can make many things Lesa. We have Mimosa trees here in Kentucky also. They grow wild. This is known as the happiness tree, very soothing to our senses. Lovely and beautiful. Make a wooden low bed frame in place of the metal thing. lol lol Ted is putting pressure on you Lesa... lol All the best to you both. Such fun to follow your progress.
Just paint it the same colour as the rest of the walls! As Ted pointed out ...as tactfully as he could... very little of the wall will be seen because of curtains and furniture. Time is of the essence. Love the idea of a big timber column finishing off that wall. Nicely "knocked about a bit" and aged as only Ted knows how to do. Bad luck about that bed by the way. No occasional beds are not meant to be jumped on!
I dont know if you have a brochure for the Chateau but maybe on the website etc you should put that the certain parts of the Chateau has renovations going on during the day from 10 to 4. We aim to keep noise to a minimum. That way you can carry on. I would lol.. Maybe saying that you brought the Chateau in ruins and there is a 10 year plan etc.The garden is looking beautiful, thx for the look around.😊 Oleander is extremely toxic to dogs as well as children... sap can cause a rash...
I would probably use another wallpaper. That one is a little bit too shiny for the rustic vibe you are going for in the room. I think you should go for something that looks older/antique
It looked like a silver effect on the wallpaper, and they mentioned the curtains would be red. I am wondering if a different metallic would work better with red curtains, maybe a bronze effect if something like that was available. Or a stencil that was reminiscent of something from several hundred years ago. (Fleur de lys?)
But- you two are doing a beautiful job, so I should probably keep my two cents to myself! But, is there a way to use the wallpaper while enhancing the silver part with an overlay of a deeper metallic tone? It would mean some hand painting, Lesa, but you are very talented and I am sure could do it! Thanks to both of you for your examples of boundless energy and good spirits!
I agree with Ted. Paint it. I don’t think the paper is right. it would result in too many different treatments/surfaces which gives the impression that the room was just thrown together from odds and ends…Just my opinion.
The reddish colour of the window frame seems to me worth taking into account. I like the stone colour idea and feel sure there is a tone of pale stone that might team with the red range around the window and softly complement the strong mustardy (?) yellow of the opposite walls. Could the stone tone be « buttery »?
Honestly there is nothing better than fresh tomatoes straight from the garden, so delicious. Try growing som nasturtiums next year. They do well in the heat and they tumble out of the pots. You can also eat the smaller leaves as salad and the flowers, which taste allot like water cress. I love watching you two.
Do you think it would be easier for you to add a few things to attract people to stay for longer so that you’re not constantly doing change overs. Perhaps offering courses in things that you have both learned or getting friends and neighbours who have teachable skills.
Put low wheels on the frame, you also could weave canvas straps end to end of the bed to strengthen the slats. My Aunt did that to a very old framed bed
I am so excited about spending some nights (four, I think) at your place! I’ve owned vacation rentals before and can empathize with you when people don’t tell you when they’ve damaged something. XO
Sorry Ted, but I almost peed myself laughing when the bed collapsed with you on it. Lesa, I know you will paper that wall. I bet you will find one on sale when you shop for your paint. I like the print on the one you showed us. I am glad Mandy is there to give you a hand. That is a lot of work when they stay only one night. I think the garden looks fabulous. ❤
I'm impressed with you making your own cement pots. Could you stick small tiles on them to pretty them up? Like mosiac. I know you have loads of time on your hands 😂😂
That Mimosa Tree is one of my favorite from childhood since it is so fragrant and delicate. Do everything to keep it healthy, watered well since it is heavy feeder whose branches could break easier than most. Have you made the bedspreads/coverlets from the metallic fabric you bought? Maybe you could find an alarm for too much movement on that bd that broke at any point?
I had absolutely no idea of how busy you are behind the scenes, what an eye opener😮 I have been wishing for more vlogs, but now I really understand why you haven't been able to make them 😊 I hope you can get more subscribers and don't have to work quite so hard. Bless you both x
The wallpaper you have is pretty, but doesn’t work well with the paint color in the room. You don’t need much, so you could look for something that picks up the wall color
This the type of videos people want to watch they want you take them along for the ride that is your life. This has been a great video Lesa. I don’t think the wall paper goes with the rustic nature of the room. I’m with Ted paint it until you find the right paper personally I could see a large old world map on the wall
I think put the paper on the wall and in the off season if it’s bothering you, change it for something else. You will probably find that once everything is in the room, it won’t bother you. Oh dear Ted, hope your skills match Lesa’s imagination 😅
What would help you find the right nut is what my husband did. He put all nuts into a jam jar or two also with screws etc. he would then just empty that particular jar onto a flat surface then it was easy to find the right one.
Just a suggestion, since this is a small wall to cover, would you consider a paisley print wallpaper that pulls in the tins if the paint plush a touch of mauve and maybe a little red. This would pop the wall, look great in the sun but not overpower the room. Just a thought, you do have good design instincts and you are not afraid to change as needed. 🇨🇦🤭✌️
Good to see you two. You look great. Sorry you’ve gotten behind with the refurbishing of apartment 4. Ion another note I wondered if you were going to open the restaurant again this summer. ( I must have missed the vlog whereby you explained your decision not to open the restaurant)Anyway you’ll be back on track soon with apart 4!
Loved the garden tour - it’s looking beautiful - I like the sound of the stained glass in the arched windows - subscriber wise could you ask your other chateau friends to promote your channel? I like the wallpaper but it doesn’t go with the wall colour - paint the remaining walks the same colour as the others and decorate with pictures etc ❤
That wallpaper just doesn't go with the paint colour. You need a warmer colouring to go with it. I had a really good laugh when Ted lay down on the bed and it very slowing started lower down to the floor.
That wall paper will be fab I love it hope you managed to resolve the bed before your guests arrive I’d be tempted to put a notice in the room please don’t JUMP on the beds
@@newday5 it would never do for the vision in my wife's head. To add, I think what she has in mind may cost more than the entire room budget at a brocante
Thank you for showing us around the ground and the flowers / weeds. Should one worry about you using the herbs in your cooking? Sorry only joking. When Ted makes the bed, could he also make a small pew / window seat, could help hide that step. Love your videos. Cheers
A great video this was wondering if you could have guests stay a minimum of 2 nights I know that's tricky you being an ideal stop off point but just a thought 😊
Have you thought about painting it a light green that would coordinate with what is there. Also are you still thinking about using that pretty material you purchased in that room.
We’re in the middle of a monumental thunderstorm here in East Sussex at the moment. All our windows were open all 24 of them!! We now have very wet windowsills and the ceiling in the dormer has fallen down and water is pouring in. Happy days!!!
I wonder if a fold down, games table below that Apartment 4's window would be good idea. It would be multi use table say with checker board painted atop it, and you would provide checkers or chess pieces for renters to use on it for their entertainment, or should they need writing desk, lap top desk, or coffee clutch desk it could multi purpose to that. When not in use, renters might keep it down flat against wall creating a bit of paneling below the window. The raised floor area within the window well would not deter from persons sitting there and using the table if they choose and that uneven flooring of window alcove would look authentic historical while table top was flat against wall and not in use as one. As I understand such fold down tables, a little shelf is created on top when it is folded against the wall for a decorative chess or checker board piece holding container or other nick nacks. The off white wallpaper would be fast solution for that short wall, or perhaps look for discounted discontinued wallpaper with period feel floral print that would compliment the curtains and bed coverings to come, probably with off white background to contrast ceiling and lean into your faux leather painting of other walls. I wonder if gold wallpaper similar composition to white you showed us would create that period look with the many rich red fabrics you plan to use... Gold would compliment your faux leather walls nicely too... regal period look. I would check the discontinued rolls at the store you are about to visit and see if their is an economical choice that would do on that small wall area. Keep up the good work and don't slow down Ted by taking too long to choose.
The reality of running an accommodation and restaurant business while renovating is the same as everyone else in the same situation. You sound really stressed and under pressure from the viewers for more blogs ! I suggest the viewers should may be look at chateau de Bruges, while they are open and fully operational they simply can not renovate and edit blogs and renovate at the same time. The viewers need to be patient and Leesa and Ted, chill and take bite sized manageable pieces 😊
From what the gardens looked like when you first got there to now is amazing. Now Lesa you have done your list on the wall that needs wallpapering😂 Going to look nice when done😘

The wallpaper is too delicate and elegant and busy for that wall. You have a rustic look going on. It does not need silver filagree.

Cheers
🤣🤣🤣
A great video this was wondering if you could have guests stay a minimum of 2 nights I know that's tricky you being an ideal stop off point but just a thought 😊
I have one of those beds, they are not easy to put together nothing lines up.
Have you thought about painting it a light green that would coordinate with what is there. Also are you still thinking about using that pretty material you purchased in that room.
Oh my...
We’re in the middle of a monumental thunderstorm here in East Sussex at the moment. All our windows were open all 24 of them!! We now have very wet windowsills and the ceiling in the dormer has fallen down and water is pouring in. Happy days!!!
Bonsoir, pourquoi ne pas collé des pierres de parement sur la cloison blanche
Are you planning to put a seat in that window? Not sure of the full layout but if not a seat, perhaps a small table for a plant 🪴?
That tree is mimosas
I do love the cda wallpaper. Go for it 👌🏻 side note. I broke a tooth on a curly wurly once 😂
Sorry Charlene lol😂 love curly Wurly
Guests pick your own, be clear its not stock up a week on departure. A few are a bit greedy.

Futon bed comfortable & bounce proof.
Though nothing is guaranteed for bear / shark attack & children under 5.
Like and subscribe get this vlog over 20k. Amusing bit on your weed pot !
Paint that wall the same colour that you have already used the wall paper will be too much use the wallpaper for another project
No to the wall paper😊
I would marble that wall and add mirror or two
What about a little seat in the window , like you did downstairs ?
How rude that someone would break the bedframe and not at least tell you!
From what the gardens looked like when you first got there to now is amazing. Now Lesa you have done your list on the wall that needs wallpapering😂 Going to look nice when done😘
Yes I didn't think that one through very carefully did I 🤣

Sofa beds and trundles are not safe for children to jump on. Please make a sign above the bed to that effect. For safety
Agreed, that's common sense to any responsible parent, but that's exactly what children are.... parents responsibility, don't you agree?
@@ChateauDeMontmagner sometimes patents are not aware of the danger. With a warning sign then they have been informed.
