This feels like the confusion of developing attraction to someone mingled with butterflies and happiness! More like the early stages of love than being deeply immersed. Libestraume feels like being deeply, passionately in love, and Libesleid feels like the sorrow after heartbreak. Gotta love the classical love song trio
In my opinion, liebesleid sounds like a couple going through conflicts but eventually learn to live along, each with their own imperfections but together in a beautiful harmony..
This is incredibly jazzy considering the era in which Rachmaninoff lived, a true genius of complicated/unusual chords and motifs which I dare say you rarely hear even in the works of Chopin and Liszt!
@@Zimzamzoom95 And one of his favorite pianists was Art Tatum. Rachmaninoff once said that if Art Tatum decided to start playing classical music "we'd all be in trouble".
Ronald Pump I know - I was referring to the video description where the benevolent uploader at least twice names Liebesleid as Liebeslied. A tiny thing but now it is made huge. Please retire this issue
why is that "weird" that simply means you've acquired some excellent taste in music and you appreciated it more and more each time you listen.. that's a good thing, not a weird thing.
Oh lol, still kept thinking of that particular piece I heard on the movie version of Your Lie in April. And also, I was in a hurry of uploading this so that I can go to bed. Enough said, thanks for correcting me. I'll change it right now. XD
30 years ago, I'd have played this piece with no effort at all.. now.. well.. let's just say I'll probably be dead before I ever REALLY learn to play it correctly LOL!!
i think this song signifies confusion and excitement while love's sorrow starts with sadness and midway switches to absolute desparation, which I think is the order in which you feel everything when you love someone
What programs did you use to produce this wonderful video? I would like to make some for my music class so my students can follow the printed scores. Thanking you in advance Peter.
I think that you should also try to learn an instrument. I don't think non-musicians can really understand the detail that goes into composing and playing, so you may appreciate it better.
That sudden modulation in 1:06 to A-flat is incredibly smooth, dear Lord.
It's actually smooth because of how it shares the C as the root. C Maj into C7, which connects very well to Bbmin7

This is the most Rachmaninoff sounding arrangement he could have possibly come up with xD
wellll......... Liebesleid too they both are made during when he had his more developed technique already locked in so thats great :)
I understood so little of this, but I still tried to read along. Genius at its finest.
That moment when you play no piano at all and you watch the partition and you cry internally like "What is that !?" 😅😂

Bruh he lived through jazz
David Sinclair lmfao he was so poetic about it too! reality is often disappointing
Ummm, Rachmaninoff was a jazz fan himself. I think you've got your timeline mixed up
@@Zimzamzoom95 I had no idea

This piece is sounds very nice! Thanks for uploading!
Sure thing, my friend. :)
Love the key changes!! Wonderful!!
The main motif sounds like the theme song for Disney.
disney didn't compose a lot of its main music, so I wouldn't be surprised if when you wish upon a star came from this
This was EXACTLY my thought! “Oh.... that’s Disney’s theme!”
And Rachmaninoff met Walt Disney, too. Rachmaninoff praised "the greaat maestro mouse."

リチャード先生のお力は実に偉大です。お金のない人が幾ら抵抗しようが、いつも無駄に終わります。
A very great performance!
How is it so Late - Romantic and Jazzy at the same time?
Welcome to the world of Rachmaninoff :)
Rachmaninoff was a fan of Jazz :)
this does not sound like jazz lmao
because thats when rachmaninoff was alive
*Liebesleid (Love's Sorrow), not Liebeslied (Love Song) in the description!

Guys please this is getting so out of hand
I just wanted to correct a small error in order to prevent anyone being misled. In my culture an exclamation mark is a sign of warmth.

when you wish upon a star . . .
this looks fun to play! thanks for upload
I was just talking about this song with my piano teacher, awesome 😁👍
Hmm..I prefer Love's Sorrow, but that's my taste ^^
same here, i love the minor sound in general, i guess thats why i like the sad version more...
Same here ^^
I disagree! I love them both equally as they both have a uniqueness to them.
@@fattit7598 you are correct, every note has it's own Emotion and way to Hypnotise 💕
you aquire taste for liebesfreud with more musical experience
Hi I believe the title is wrong this is Liebesfreud.
Great performance though

OK done. Well, at the least, only 75 people have seen my silliness (I chose that word because "stupidity" is a bit rude for myself to say.) XD
I knew it I wasn't seeing things.

So wonderful!!!

달인 김병만 선생님을 모셔보겠습니다~~
I would play it a little slower than written just for the more to enjoy the joy and I can wish upon a star slower 😋
Kinda sounds like the Disney intro
Absolutely fantastic!!!

Wished he arranged Schön Rosmarin too
If someone was to play both pieces (Love’s Sorrow and Love’s Joy)
Which one would come first?
(I just want some opinions on this)
If it were up to me, Liebesfreud first, then Liebeslied.
It's up to you, which one you prefer.
I think liebestraum😁
liebesleid would be first;)

its more on harmony than melody :)
welcome to Rachmaninov

nice, but i prefer the original violin version, even more than liebesleid

For this video, I used Windows Movie Maker.
Thanks. Best, Peter.
@preikon uh, no. it's the easiest way for me to make vids. :)
ラフマニノフ編曲の愛の悲しみよりもこの曲の方が難しいと思います。どちらも難しいです。

So strange. It has nothing to do with raffinated viennese style. I prefer Kreisler's original dances.
