That because they're in the right key. The others arent a different quality just a different size/key. Ocarinas come in multiple shapes, sizes, and keys, all meant to play differently.
@samplingthetext Yeah it was just a step or two down, but since it was consistent (unlike the Walmart one) it still retained the beauty of the original music. There's examples of that happening on purpose all the time, for example Metallica usually plays their older songs in Half E instead of E since it both helps the older lead singer not have to go so high AND the music is objectively better than what the original were.
Ever heard of Ace the Ocarina Maker? That definitely doesn't apply to his voice. (His UA-cam is about playing video games, but he does actually make and play ocarinas, just not as much as he used to.)

When Ocarina of time first came out my dad drove me to all the music stores in town to help me find an ocarina. Most of em didn’t have a clue what an ocarina was. That because they're in the right key. The others arent a different quality just a different size/key. Ocarinas come in multiple shapes, sizes, and keys, all meant to play differently.

Green was the most full sounding. But black does have a much higher quality tone.
