Yea, a dog is very meme way of presenting the Balkans as a meme again. Actually it was just a drunk greek soldier who wondered off and got shot. Later it was even speculated he actually pretended to be drunk. The reason was Greece took many greek refugees from Anatolia after the war with Turkey, and they settled them in Agean Thrace. So they decided that going to war with a weakened Bulgaria would be easier than Turkey, and they would atleast be able to get more reparations to feed their refugees. The greek army entered Bulgaria and managed to reach Petrich. Ironically the city was saved by the Macedonian rebel force. Yea, the same people who today hate Bulgaria and call us tatars actually saved our city. And since the Macedonian rebels are not an official army, the League of Nations took Bulgaria's side since we didn't officially use force. So Greece was forced to pay reparations instead, and the people of Petrich used the money from those reparations to build the citys first gymnasium.

“ the dog war”
Bulgaria didn't lose militarily . Only Greek sources support such a premise .
Bulgaria made a strategic retreat and let Greeks capture 10 villages on the border , to gather enough volunteers behind and organize defense on Petrich.
Bulgarian military was disarmed by the Great powers . It was a difficult time for Bulgaria. There is no sense that Bulgaria wanted a war .
