PLEASE READ: This is Aubrey's mom replying on behalf of our family. I just wanted to say this once so I don't need to have people upset or arguing and I don't have to post this over and over. About 2 weeks ago, Ash passed away from complications with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), which is almost always fatal. My sister is a foster who took Ash in and cared for him knowing his time was probably very short. There are actually very few vets who will even attempt to treat cats with this disease because they rarely survive. He spent 84 days going through daily injections. He has had several blood transfusions. Countless trips to the vet and special care for him. Most people don't even bother with an FIP cat and either put them down or just let them go without treatment because it takes a LOT of time and money to try to rehab an FIP kitty. We thought he was in remission from the FIP and things were fine only to find out that he had developed severe feline anemia. He had to have several blood transfusions and after the most recent, his CBC showed that the transfusion did not work and his percentage of red blood cells was all off. It was then that she knew he was not going to make it. Where so many people would not have even TRIED, my sister took Ash and loved him with all her heart and fought for him to live. She would not have dreamed of NOT giving him the special care and time he needed in order to give him the best possible chance of recovery. It was absolutely heartbreaking for our family to find out that Ash wasn't going to make it after going through all of this with him and him becoming a wonderful little member of our family. Because our family loved him sooo very much, we wanted to make the best of the life that he had left. That meant doing special things for him like taking him to Starbucks for the occasional treat. People swearing at us, commenting on how we are stupid or mistreating our pets because we let him enjoy this don't understand that he was a VERY sick kitty and his health (and diet) were very controlled and monitored but we wanted him to just be a kitten and enjoy the time he had left with our family. These trips were treats and we have other pets that we do NOT feed junk to everyday or anything like that. Please try not to be so critical when you may not know the whole situation. Try to always be mindful of others and be kind.
Sorry to hear your kitty passed away, and for any negative comments you have received to date. I just saw it as an owner doing something nice for their cat, it was cute and at least he had some fun times before he died, bittersweet really.

@@AnalogWolf Thank you sooo much. It has been really hard for us. He started getting better and so we thought we had it beat and then once he had that last transfusion things seemed to go downhill. I am going to do a remembrance video for him with all sorts of cute clips I have collected of him. Should be out in a couple of days. :)

I am a veterinarian and know how much you did and how heartbreaking losing Ash must have been. My sincere condolences and love from a cat vet who does help FIP owners with their cats.
Thank you! I know its hard for people to understand this awful disease. They don't see the struggle trying to keep them going. Often times what's best is to just make the most of the time they have left when you know there is no saving them.

I lost a stray rescue to wet FIP. He was part of my colony and vanished for 2 years. Returned one night to eat and was filthy and had lice covering him including his genitalia. I assume he was in a hoarder house 😢 Bathed him and got him back at a good weight, planned on keeping him. After only like 3 months the ascites began. Took to the vet and he was drowning 2 days after having fluid removed, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to alleviate his suffering with an emergency euthanasia 😢 Still missing my polydactyl lil guy, HEMI❤ I am just glad that even after being gone for 2 years, he knew exactly where to go for a meal and care, and lived his last few months being loved and treated well. He trusted ME in his time of need, and I was honored to be there for him. 🌈 🐾
That was one lucky cat to have you care for him during his remaining time on Earth. He left you knowing what true love and caring was all about.
This is my first time seeing Ash, and so sad to think he’s already passed. My condolences. Ash looked so cute in his knitted sweater and very obviously enjoyed that Puppaccino. Thank you for taking such good care of him in the final stages of his life. Don’t let anyone take that joy away from you with their spiteful speculation. 💜

Same! Us cat people are the absolute best. Thank you so much for giving him love. In September 23 I lost my last of a litter I kept (6 kittens being bottle fed 3 x’s daily), and swore no more. Of course I caved and adopted a tripod! She’s wonderful & full of love. 😻😻😻
I’m so sorry for your loss. My boy is now 20, and is deteriorating from his age. I’ve been strict up until recently but I want his remaining time to be comfortable. If that means occasional treats, he’s getting them. My boy likes crumbs from brownies, crumbs from Bugles, and puppacinos as well. Blessings to you all for giving him love and care during his limited time here, when the majority of people, even vets, wouldn’t. The video is adorable! So excited! It gave me joy to watch him be so excited.
And for those criticizing you, they are very sad people. If they want to criticize, go after Starbuck’s. Dogs shouldn’t have pup cups either. There are people who aren’t “happy” unless they are critical behind a keyboard.

My two cats are 18 years old, and physically in decline. Instead of trying to get them to diet, I let them eat whenever they want, but I give them just a spoonful at a time so they don't throw up. If they don't feel like eating, I buy them Nulo or other little expensive treats that cat's can't resist until they get back their appetite. give them lots of hugs and kisses, and they can sleep with me if they want to. I no longer try to keep them out of the bedroom so I can sleep better. They've been my furbabies for all this time, and I want them to live the best of their remaining time.

I've got 3 senior cats, 18, 15, and 12. The two oldest, I've had since they were each 3 years, and are having health issues now. The 18 year old only has 3 teeth left in his head, has hyperthyroidism, and arthritis. The 15 year old has a pinched nerve in his spine and there has always been something that has stressed him out, making insecure about food and his surroundings, no matter what I've tried. And they're both on medications. Right now, they're still the same loving boys they've always been, just moving a bit slower, not playing as much, and having a harder time with food. It makes me so happy to see them still get excited about things.
Disease has thankfully never been an issue with them, but I know that's not the norm for cats, and I've been so grateful they've been otherwise healthy. People that have never really bonded with their pets don't know just how devastating bad news from the vet can be.
Ash very clearly was a very happy, very loved cat. These treats, once in a while, don't cause any harm. Pets get into stuff they're not supposed to all the time, and are perfectly fine, as long as it's not something outright toxic to them. Humans eat stuff that's bad for them multiple times a day, and we know it's bad, but it doesn't stop us. We tend to do much better for our pets. Unless I know for a fact someone is neglecting their pets' health, I'm happy to watch all the fur babies indulge in treats. All the love to Ash's family. ❤
Exactly. Our 16 year old boy is showing his age and we likely have a year or less left with him. He now eats like a king and is enjoying his golden years on a fleece blanket in the sunlight.
I am glad Ash knew so much love in his short life. Boy, he sure loved that "chino"! Please try to remember the good times. He will always be in your hearts!
The joy he got from his pup cup is priceless. There are humans that never experience this kind of joy. If your days are already numbered just go for joy. Ash was experiencing joy.
I had a young kitten with FIP who passed 3 months after we got her! It’s a horrible disease. Looks like Ash had a wonderful life. Shame on anyone criticizing. So sorry for your loss, he was a sweet boy 😿

It is so difficult to take a pet who you know is very sick, you helped him pass away with love and dignity. And in much less pain. I had a FIV colony (7 cats in various stages) and it is hard. But you did the best that could be done!! Thank you for helping Ash!! Hugs!
Thank you so much I appreciate that. Its definitely difficult but worth anything if even one can be saved. Oh my gosh I can't imagine trying to deal with 7 of these poor babies. Its just so heartbreaking to watch them go through all the treatments and the suffering. I am just thankful to have the wonderful memories of him that we do.

I understand this completely. When my sweet dog was close to the end of his life, he was treated like a king and got anything he wanted. We only said "no" if it was something that would immediately hurt him. His last months were as good for him as the previous years had been.
I know how hard this is. You make so much difference to these felines and have a tough and loving heart to do so. Thank you for sharing, loving and educating.

My daughter grey kitten had some type of acute terminal kidney disease. We also took him to starbucks once and he got to cycle through every seafood twice at the grocery store over the last 2 months he was with us.

I am so sorry to hear your precious kitty Ash has passed away. Back in the late 90s I had a kitten that had FIP. We spent about $5,000.00 trying to save him. We even used a pet acupuncture specialist as well. He was almost two years old when he passed. His brother and sisters lived a full live. His brother developed symptoms when he was twelve. We put him down as soon as we found out. The sisters were the lucky ones. Virtual hugs to you and your family.❤
Thank you for your sweet words. I really appreciate it. This is one of those things I think is hard for people to understand unless they have been through it. You can do everything possible for them and there is no guarantee they will make it. It's best to just give them the best while they are able to enjoy it.

When I realised my pup had limited time I also made sure she did her favourite adventures and I fed her her favourite foods. This is the only thing you can do. I salute your sister for big heart.

I love your beautiful video about your cat and Starbucks and think that people who don’t understand why you give animals treats do not fully understand the connection between our beloved pets and our lives. My precious dog recently passed away after 18 years and I made sure to give her treats every day, just to bring a little happiness during her final illness. And she enjoyed every minute of it. I'm truly sorry for your loss.
I am seeing this for the first time. I am sorry for your families loss. When I saw this I thought I hope he only gets it occasionally and the everyday thing is an exaggeration, then I read your pinned comment and I was all for him getting one every day even before the remission info. I believe our last days should be a joyful good time with family and friends as pain free as possible. And I am in a hospice/nursing home so I have a unique perspective. And no feeling sorry for me. I have some good people around me and I can get online anytime. I am happy and relatively pain free.

I’m a cat mom, and last year I had to have my beautiful kitty Starr put to sleep, it absolutely broke my heart even though she was 18. I have 2 other cats, so I absolutely know about spoiling them. I’m so very sorry for your loss. 🙏

Adorable ❤❤❤. People should not have to explain their reasons for treating their pets. The mean comments should just be ignored. Some people are just rude and ignorant, just flat-out mean. Cherish all of the wonderful memories ❤️ 💖 ♥️ ✨️ Ash was a very blessed 😺 I spoiled my 2 fur babies as long as I could before losing them both to illness.
My boyfriend and the cat I gave him knew when we were going to Burger King. She would jump up on the hood of my car and then jump all down the passenger side to come inside and sit on his lap. We would use the drive through and order her a plain burger along with our meals. That’s one of my fondest memories.
I just saw this video and was not aware that he was so sick. I thought what a beautiful, adorable cat you have! God Bless you all for being so wonderful to Ash! I have 2 cats that were abandon and I took them in. And couldn't image my life without them! They bring so much happiest that I never knew you can get from owning a cat.

It sounds me how many people feel like it's necessary to point out their opinion when in actuality, it doesn't matter. All it does is make that nasty, narcissist person appear to be a very unhappy person. I see these nasty posts so often and mostly from posts of people asking for advice or just grieving their beloved pet. Makes me so sad that the real intention of the post is sometimes lost. I will never understand how people will uphold and praise bad behavior, but loving and caring behavior is often derided. The folks that cyberbullied a family taking a cat in a fancy coat with them on their daily routines have emptiness in their very souls. Even though later learning your beloved kitty crossed the rainbow bridge still warranted nothing less than sympathy, empathy, humor, amd affection towards you and your family. I'm sorry you all lost your fur baby, but you gave him his best life that was offered to him, and I know he felt welcomed and loved. Peace to all of you he left behind.😢❤

In my belief system, beings incarnate an infinite amount of times. When an animal is cared for by humans to this degree, with absolute love, they get to ascend to a "higher" plane of experience the "next" time.

There’s nothing like spoiling our pet kids. I don’t have a way to get anywhere like you do, so I spoil my two with my baked chicken like the cat before him and the cat before him we shared pizza crust, an ear of corn and pepperoni.

I cannot believe people were critical of you giving your cat a pup cup. Oh yeah, I forgot for a minute that people are mean now. Ash was so happy to get it! Bless you and your family for treating him so well. I lost three cats to FIP in the space of three weeks (two the same day) in 1998. There was not even treatment for FIP back then. It took me years to recover. I needed a pup cup! 🤣
Oh my gosh...I can't even imagine how hard that must have been on you. I'm sooo sorry. It's such a terrible disease! The treatments are grueling for the little ones and it doesn't guarantee they survive after you have put them through all of it. It's so hard on everyone. In the end, he was given the best life possible, full of love and cuddles.

Bless his little heart, Aubrey lived his best life..i wpuld have done the same. I lost my dear Minky over a year ago, Minks was ill with. Feline Aids, he would become very ill, very quickly..practically over night.
