Thank you! I came from a city that was smaller than Lakeland, once had almost a million people, St. Louis. I moved down here in the 90's. I love Lakeland; they try to keep this city looking good and inviting. I had some of my family members to come down, and mention, that they would stay in our low-income housing. I was like, really! Hope we continue to keep the city inviting. I'm Shree Chamberlain 's mom. The young lady that is over the Polk County Alzheimer's Walk. I brought my kids here so they would not have to go through with what I had to endure in St. Louis. I got beat up at school for no reason. The kids got chased home after getting off the bus. My sister got kidnapped., she got away when the two men stop at the gas station. Our house set on fire, approx. 20 friends and family members gunned down. Just a battle at all times. My sister's baby hit in the head with a 2x4., and when my sister defended her baby, she was sent to prison for a year because the family was involved with the cops that came. My Brother was drugged after going out, and he has been missing since the 1970's. I was hit over the head with a bottle. My other brother is still there, and one of his sons had gotten a contract to sign up with a team for basketball, they shot his legs up the day before the contract to be signed. I have loss counts how many times his kids, himself, and wife, has escaped from being unlived. Just last 4th of July, someone threw firework under his car and set it on fire. I think the same car they just had shot a hole in the gas tank. So, my kids and grandbabies are happy not to have to endure that here. I know every city has its moments of crime, but St. Louis is at another level. Now, looking forward to help raise at least, some of my great grands here, as long as it is saved enough to take them out without being forced to dodge all that drummer. My mom gets with other seniors, and they go to meeting with our sheriff, and talk about what the city needs. We def need to keep the drug dealers and the women off the streets if we want our city to be inviting. Glad we are addressing the homeless issue. Just want to shop, eat and enjoy the beauty that Lakeland has, in peace, and be ready to embrace other businesses that would like to make Lakeland their home. So, thank you guys for working diligently keeping out city livable because so many cities are not.
