1939 Poland Donut Hol(e)d Hel Strategy HOI4

- In this video, we find a new method to hold Poland against the German onslaught in the 1939 start. The donut of łodz and Warsaw makes for a solid defense that trumps pretty much any of the old strategies.
Götterdämmerung made it so the AI now groups their tanks, as well as that they now attack nearly nonstop when their odds are that they will eventually push a nearly capitulated nation. And this effectively made it so nearly all the old strategies became obsolete. So I got to work!

lol I'm sorry, my American abilities on Polish is dubious at best
the ł is good, c is pronounced as ts so -ock is like "not skill" without the -ill or the n in front

One more tip to all Poland players - general Stanislaw Sosabowski. He is a Commando (check the name if you want to know why) with Skill 3. So he can be immediately "promoted" to Camouflage Expert trait for +50% CAS damage reduction to the army that he commands. Kind of useful when you fight Germany under red sky. And when he gets to 4 skill you can promote him to Army HQ for the Concealment trait and -5% Enemy air superiority
Good stuff!
I've been waiting for you to release this again.
Absolute legend
Bro is obsessed with this achievement
I have a different strategy. I havent completed the run yet but it seems to be working pretty well. First, you release Czechoslovakia, Belarus and Ukraine but do not return Wilno to Lithuania. The reason is that releasing Belarus cuts the way to Wilno so you have a free victory point without using any of your troops. Hold Katowice with like 16 divisions since Czechoslovakia is released you have infinite supply and you have a safe place to cycle your troops which you can just put an order and the AI can just automatically manage for you. With the rest of your army put them in the Polish corridor (Danzig, Gdynia, Bydgoszcz and the 3 tile between them) and do the focus "Attract Poles to Gdynia" which gives Gdynia an extra 5 victory points. Remember to pin the Germans in the tile next to the Danzig so that they wont capture it before you. After you completed the focus then you return Wilno to Lithuania so that when the Soviets capture it you wont capitulate and to update the surrender limit. You can also retreat from the untenable position in Bydgoszcz back to Danzig and Gdynia which will free up an entire army for you use. Since you still hold Danzig the Germans cant do operation Weserubung because capturing Danzig is one of the requirement so you can receive aid and go through Danish belt. Then bring your extra army to France. In there you can launch an offensive to to relieve yourself and stop the Germans when they inevitably attack the Benelux and France. A little trick that really helps is that when the Germans attack France, they usually left you lightly guarded. So you can launch your own offensive to force Germans to deploy lots of troops to you. When the Germans come, just retreat back to Danzig, Gdynia and Katowice and shore up the defences in France or launch counteroffensive there if possibles to once again make the Germans to deploy troops to France. Rince and repeat. Just ping pong the Germans like that till '42 when the US and UK finally come and then we can just crushed the Germans.
Also, I think you should do the political focuses first because although the Exiled ones are really OP not doing the political ones fast enough can give you some really nasty debuffs like -30% recruitable pop factor, -25% stability and war support which could lead to mutiny which gives -15% attack. The bonuses from the from the political focuses are really good as well, like an extra 2% recruitable pop, -25% experienced soldier loses or 2 -50% doctrine cost. I also usually just convert all of my divisions to the 6 inf template so that I dont have to mess around with the production.
@@TuanAnh-sc8yz interesting!
I like the idea of giving more victory points in gdynia
got the achievement following this guide with no dlcs and had a blast (it was horrible and im never playing poland again)
@impactraider lol awesome...I think 🤔
damn civ 7 looks insane
Still hoping i can get a key 😢
Amazing, that you managed to get that! I’ve tried donut strategy in new dlc but I failed. Germany grinds to hard. Exile strategy works better, just finished one after fourth attempt but it’s a lot of RNG. Soviets nowadays tends to fall quickly and for strange reasons many times Japan attacks Soviet’s as well. If soviets are failing AI Germany starts to invest much more into occupation laws switching to martial law which makes uprising almost impossible to make. Also after Warsaw uprising AI tends to grind you a lot and you have a lot of pure inf so manpower loses are high. But all in all with few cheese strategies easier than the donut 😀
The Polish ringpiece defence strategy was probably not going to fly as a name for this concept was it?
I was doing so well UNTIL BRITAIN REMOVED ITS NAVY FROM THE CHANNEL AND GOT NAVAL INVADED AND CAPPED AHHHHHHHHHH
@awonisgreat9708 oh wow lol
That's an unusual one
This is awesome, would swapping for engineering on the infantry template help with defense, or do they not have it researched in '38?
It would help, but then you would need to dedicate more factories to support equipment
Any plans for a new Byzantium run in Gotterdammerung?
Potentially! I was toying with it just the other day
@@hatless_spider Sweet!
what happened to the byzantine stream?
Why arn't you releasing Ukraine? They help provide a buffer which Germany need to man and if you reduce their autonomy, they will provide military factories and will also get more civ/mil factories via focuses.
Btw using you can do a similar strategy like this around Katowice/Krakow and use Czechoslovakia to rotate troops and the mountain tiles help defending alot!
@B-O-G there are more idle tiles that the Germans must garrison from just Belarus than with Ukraine + Belarus surprisingly!
What? You actually researched radio early?
@@rosscalverley lol it's actually more necessary than ever now!
