Frank took Sammy into the Rat Pack just so he could be 2nd and not fall below that. And while most people think the Rat Pack was formed by Frank, it was actually formed by Humphrey Bogart and some other big timers of his day and one morning after partying Lauren Bacall came out of the bedroom and said to Bogart, "You look like a goddamn rat pack." Some say she really said "Don't you look like a pack of rats?" and that's how the name came about. Either way you write it, they were the epitomy of cool for the era.
Nobody could sing Birth of the Blues like Sammy. I preferred when he sang it straight rather than with the impressions. He really should have been awarded Entertainer of the Century. No one did what he did.
Arby Fatbuckle I think he was trying to showcase all of his many talents in just 8 minutes - but, in Sammy’s case that was far too short a time. And judging by the cheers at the end of his set, I think the audience agreed with me.👏👏 Just out of curiosity, did Frank or Dean ever get invited to do a Royal Variety Show?
