Switzerland is known for being one of the most expensive countries in the world. But how much do you really need to earn to live comfortably in Switzerland? Switzerland is a great country I’d love to live in Lucerne well worth a visit
I would suggest to avoid living in the big cities and come out here to the agglo. Expenses like rent are much more reasonable.
Which agglo would you recommend to live in for a family of 3 if your job is in Zurich?
@@vikasachh I'm not familiar with that area, but if you have children, you need to take the school or daycare/ after school program into consideration. I live in my particular town because the schools have a mid-day lunch program and after school program until 6 pm and those things are not offered everywhere, not by far.

@@vikasachh I guess my point is that some things are more important that just costs and level of taxation. For example, I live in a (relatively) high tax area by Swiss standards, but I have access to services that I wouldn't have in the nearest towns with lower taxes. I hope this helps.

Hello man, really great videos you made. Every detail and info that are important, thank you for that !! My sister lives in Geneve for 4 years(and she cant give me this much info, haha), and im going to help her about moving and kids, im going to stay there 2 or 3 months. I need one information if you now of course, because i dont have EU passport, can I work for uber eats in Geneve that 2-3 months ?! Can I sing up for that job and get work permit or i need to have work permit before ?! Grateful in advance, all the best.
Without an EU passport it is difficult to work in Switzerland for such a short period of time. The only two options I can think of would be to either work remotely like a digital nomad for example doing freelance work you can probably find something matching your skill set on platforms like up work or to work as an au pair since this allows you to work in Switzerland as a non Swiss/EU/EFTA national for a short period of time. Although judging by your youtube account name you might be over the age limit for this type of work permit.

Amazing how accurate your price estimates are. But as a single person I would suggest one needs at least 4500 per month a student can live with about 200 per month because there are so many advantage they get.

I’m Swiss, i own my own apartment, i’m retired, i live on 2000 francs per month. If i can manage on that, people who earn 3 to 4 times more in a month should be able to manage pretty well.

how about utility fees, taxes, and the internet? also mobile phone sim card plan price?
* Utility is included in the rent so for the 1 bed room apartment you can expect it to be around 150-250$
* Taxes depend on your income but I would say below 100k it's max 10% of you gross income.
* Internet costs you around 40-80/month
* mobile plan can start at 20 but than not much is included, I would say an all-in flat rate starts at 60.

There are some areas that are out of commuting distance to the major centers.
But you will still want a substantial salary to live anywhere in CH

I had an interview with a swiss company in Basel for chemist position. I have two masters but the job does not require two masters. I'm going to have my second round interview next week and they like to know from mey salary expectation. I can see the living expenses are much he higher than in Belgium. But, i would like to know what is the salary range for chemist with 8 years experience. Is there a reliable source to give such is information? On internat, i see it is wide range from 91k to 300k

I would ask the company the allowed salary range and ask for a good enough salary

Swiss per capital is high due to big corporations are there and they made most of money. Not Swiss people

what about IT Jobs and Switzerland and easy to get or difficult?
If you are from a EU/EFTA country it is pretty straightforward but if you are from outside of Europe it can be a bit more challenging because the employer needs to prove to the cantonal authorities that there are no EU/EFTA citizens suitable for the job. I am making a dedicated video about working in the IT sector in different European countries which should be published sometime next week.

Hi,I am not a native german speaker neither an english one but I am learning german to go to switzerland one day. To get to a point where you can speak fluently and at an advanced level the average time of study is around 700H.
Lets say that you sped 2h a day studying german. It will take you 700/60 ,which is around 12 months (a year) and 2 years if you study 1h a day.
I am swiss and I can tell you now that the local language is German with a huge dialect. Its almost a different language all together in its oral form but not written. I suggest you finalise some German courses there so you can familiarise yourself with the differences between German and Swiss German and then ideally speak both.
You could be earning more money if you spent one year studying in your field instead of wasting your time studying a useless language

What is income tax rate there ?
It depends on how much you earn and in where you live. At the federal level, personal income tax rates are progressive and the maximum income tax rate is 11.5%. Besides the federal income tax, also cantonal and municipal taxes have to be paid at the cantonal and municipal level. Income tax in Switzerland is low compared to other countries in Western Europe. I am not a specialist on the refugee process in Switzerland. However according to reports refugees in Switzerland on average receive 1,200 Swiss francs ($1,240) per person per month. This is much higher than most other countries in Europe. Once you have been formally granted asylum you will be entitled to work in Switzerland which will allow you to earn the salaries that I outlined in my Salaries in Switzerland video. I hope that the situation improves in your home country and that you are able to find a safe place to live.
