Man, this is super helpful and inspiring. I’ve recently dusted off my MPC to sell (I’m mostly an Octatrack user) and came across this channel. I fell in love with my MPC over the past few weeks as I wanted to give it another chance and I’m so glad I did! Gonna keep it for life now!
I had my MPC Live for over a year now and adding the patch bay work flow. Thank you Thank you. Only thing now is I have it set to Normal, and I got sound from my DP-32SD channel 1 and 2, and the MPC is happy. I still have some learning, but after a year when I first saw your 1st video on Patch bay mpc, I am finding and understanding this work flow, finally.
pacthbay still one the best investments over last couple of years. All my gear is connected and takes a few seconds to route things how I need for the moment and never have to go behind my gear! I used to think using aux sends on my mixer was the best way but it always sucked dealing with all the gain staging. so much better being able to connect everything directly through the patchbay. Great video hope more people can realize how good of an investment some decent cables and a patchbay make.
Thank you for this demonstration and walk through! I have my X hooked up to my half-normal patch bay, and the bottom outs all go to a mixer. That way I can add effects or processes each out differently if I want. Got some great ideas on how to improve my signal flow from this❤
gota read the specs. there's other factors too like what interface it all goes into etc. but its not going to be some major difference, but where 1% can matters, maybe it will in some situations.
Hope its not overkill, Amazon sent 3 extra Patchbays after I only ordered one, it was a painful transaction, but I kept them all anyway. So, I have my MPC outs and inputs on 1 PB, My DP-32sd, on another PB, and Interface on another, and the Hookup is still following your video. It took a long time for me to find this subject of MPC and Patchbay. I've added my Turntable and CD player to the Patchbay.
love my patchbay, one of the most important things in a studio. btw you know outputs 5 & 6 got more dynamic range. and only via XLR on 1&2 gives access to the mpcX's pre amp, not that you`d want it with analog heat.
@@mpchead yeah, its documented in the manual under the specs. my theory is 5 and 6 were intended for drums outputs. its about 2% more range. and no idea why the xlr only pre amp thing but that is what it says. the 5&6 makes my mixer clip ahead of the other levels. so there's definitely a difference. let us know what you think Marco
I have a question. Do you run your turntable thru a DJ mixer then from mixer to the analog heat? Also do use the air flavor pro plugin? If so can you make a video on how you use it to give your beats that gritty 90s sound
Hope you can give me a definative answer. If i want to lay down internal keyboard sounds into my mpc , so not midi controller , but the sounds from keybpard itself , is it correct that the keyboard need a audio out ? And if it doesnt have that , can i use the headphones out 3.5mm and the other end 2 jack 6.3 mm that goes in/out on the mpc ? Hope you or some one else can answer that. All the best from the netherlands
@@mpchead dope , thanks man. A whole new world opens up , lol. So i can even use a walkman in theory. I had to send my mpc back after 8 weeks , and it takes up 4 to 8 weeks to it return , cant wait to try it out.
Lmao Marlow, I know 0 about hardware and wiring and shit (I got to having audio from both the MPC and the AI at the same time and it was my proudest creation),but hell this was a crazy beat!
@@mpchead to be honest I don't label any of my chords either. I also use logic for making beats and pro tools for recording. I dig you chanel thanks for the wonderful insight to your creative processes.
Akai needs to bring back the Digital I/O for us Digital PatchBay Studio Owners... #GreatVidBro...🎥🎬🎥

Realizing how much work this man invests into his production and how he has this machine figured out, is a beautiful thing to watch.
Hardly any secrets, know this machine inside out.
Yesss!! Great video!!
I just implemented patchbays in my workflow and it is an absolute game changer.
🔥🔥🔥

Very dope
Thanks for this. You have reminded me that I need to get a patch-bay for my main studio.
Great video as always.
This is exactly the video I’ve been looking for. Thanks.
A patchbay is a must when you want easy access to inputs and outputs.
jah knows I love a good signal flow vid

Gotta try that when I get a mixer
@Ali-Star I didn’t know either, good looking out. I was just asking Ski about this this morning on his live.

@mpchead great video as always

Very useful. Cheers Marco!

Great. Thanks for sharing. I am using the exact same workflow, and I can highly recommend it. 👍

Very informative, thank you. Just got a new mpc x se!
congrats on the new mpc 🔥
I’m a poor man but I’m happy. You make the mpc cool btw@@mpchead
Dope
i wish my MPC touch had more outs
I wonder where the new P.O. II will live in Mr. Digs’ patchbay.
Not sure it will.
@@mpchead not even for testing, Mr. Digs?

Thanks for the info, I didn't know that. Why 5/6? seems weird, have to try.

Nicely done. Do you sample your records through the Anolog Heat?
No, it goes straight into the mpc.
I have a question. Do you run your turntable thru a DJ mixer then from mixer to the analog heat? Also do use the air flavor pro plugin? If so can you make a video on how you use it to give your beats that gritty 90s sound
I have my turntable going straight into the mpc, no mixer. I use the flavor pro a lot. I'll make a video on it sometime soon.
is there something you should know about patchbays? are there differences?
There're different patchbays out there, do a bit of study on them.
👍🏾💙❤️👍🏾🔥
You got a video on the best way to take the bass out of a sample , without making the sample sound crappy ?
If you're using the mpc you have the kill eq that can do that easy.
Yes I’m using the mpc live 2
Bro I got all my stuff in patch bays. Get MIDI ones too.
Yes that's been on my mind lately, definitely need an upgrade on the midi
Hope you can give me a definative answer.

If you are trying to sample an external keyboard into the mpc, yes you can send the outputs of the headphones into the inputs of the mpc. Have fun

@@mpchead marlo , you say sample but can i lay down chords or a guitar sound on a (audio) track with a standalone keyboard that way ?

Do you label your chords? Also what DAW are you using.
I use Logic. I should label my chords but no I don't.
@@mpchead to be honest I don't label any of my chords either. I also use logic for making beats and pro tools for recording. I dig you chanel thanks for the wonderful insight to your creative processes.
Thanks for sharing Marlow, never thought of using the MP and Analog heat that way. 💎💎💎🔥🔥🔥🫡
