It is only found in mammals which means that animals such as Snakes, Birds and Fish for example can't get it since they are no mammals. It is most prominent in wild mammals such as Raccons, Foxes, Skunks, Cats and coyotes for example but can happen in any mammal so be cautious. In most cases symptoms show up about 2-3 months after infection but it can be anywhere from days to in a few cases even years before symptoms show up.
