Happy Birthday Thomas ... many happy returns an hopefully several brews tonight for you lol
Good to see a spark on UA-cam who uses his own common sense when it comes to the regs unlike other UA-cam sparks that think the more regs the better. The job in my opinion is under paid considering the amount of regs we need to learn and the liability that comes with them should something go wrong.
Mark D most jobs are underpaid.
Regs are here to help electricians the main problem occurs when people mod understand them or can’t work out the reason behind them
Day's not complete without watching Tom. Love the blunt and honest talk.
Some ES27 lamp holders the outer rings aren’t actually connected to the neutral terminal the connection point is further into the lamp holder and only engages when you fully screw the lamp in.
Most commercial installs it’s the mechanical protection and it’s the length of runs to reduce your ZS readings as runs can be quite a distance. T&E is pants for long runs and C Type breakers
Actually any ES lamp holders produced after something like 1960 should be like that. At least on the continent, the style of lamp holder gives you a nice idea of the age of some vintage fitting. Pre-1900 is snap-fit brass holder, pre-1920 is screw-fit brass with small porcelain collar, 1930s and 50s is screw-fit brass without collar and permanently connected screw thread or (rarely) Bakelite with permanently connected thread. Anything later has isolated threads. The late 80s/early 90s saw the first thermoplastic holders, some with push-in terminals.
I suppose the main disadvantage of T&E on long runs is the reduced-size CPC, other than that i can't see any difference in the electrical characteristics.
You were going to show us how you got the radio working 👍👍
Great content, thanks Tom
HAppy birthday, been there, done that... a job is a job, birthday is just another day.
Happy Birthday Tom! Thanks for all the vids. Learn a lot
Happy birthday Tom!!!
Happy Birthday Thomas hope your day wasn't too bad. Love the videos very informative
Tips and tricks in any aspect of the work is why I watch Tom. Also New tools and kit/fittings/tech that i dont know about is always good to see. Good to see how people design the install as its the most important bit, being new its also not always easy to get right.
What an awesome laser level 👌 good job lads and yep very realistic "crap everywhere". Happy working birthday Tom.
happy birthday belated tom, hope u had a great day .
The outer ring is broken and makes contact when the lamp is screwed in on that Edison fitting
happy birthday Tom, have a day off on your birthday!
happy birthday to you I hope you had a great day today and enjoy.
Hey Tom, happy birthday. See you're with the Toughbook gang, got a used one the other day for use at work (garage) CF-19 MK5
Tom, I actually find the wiring part interesting.. I like to see how it differs from ours on the "other side of the pond"... and no i don't find it boring. Oh and Happy Birthday! Cheers!
Happy Belated Birthday Tom 🥳
I always used to work my Birthday, then one year I had such a totally rubbish day - I just couldn’t fathom why I would choose to work that day when it’s a great excuse to have a rest day - Never worked one since.
Consider having the day of next year - let Dave take the strain 🤣🤣
Happy Birthday Thomas!
happy belated bday! 🎉
good vid as usual 😊
Happy birthday Tom, I’ve found on expensive light fittings, a lot never seem to be earthed
Happy Birthday Tom!
That laser is great, being using it for some month fitting new light fixtures in a shopping center, really handy!
Happy belated birthday Thomas
Happy Birthday Tom.
Tom (Dave)'s work really is proper neat ^^
Noice job Dave.

Someone has spent a lot of money on that festool gear
YES £1200 notes !!! - There getting paid too much -LOL
Happy birthday tom ..👍👍👍
Cheers pal!
RE: Raised floors & armored. It's a rodent highway under those things. I've seen a raised floor platform go live because a rat chewed T&E, which then got pulled on by an IT tech to plug something into a socket under the floor, it contacted the frame of the floor and several people took a nasty shock. Even though RCD protection may be present, the armored is still a better plan under commercial floors. It's also good for RF shielding, since you never quite know how the space may change use after you've left the job.
crashk6 definitely agree. I’ve had a few partial rewire jobs because of rats having a chomp on wires.
I judge it on a site by site basis, if there's signed of rats it ends up in armored or metal trunking & singles. However if I am a few stories up in a server room and it's all fire sealed it can just be T&E, it's just a case of picking choosing the most suitable thing for the situation.
Truth is, armoured in buildings is really only done on the British Isles. Everywhere else, the only folks using armoured are suppliers, underground and usually 35 mm and up. So yes, maybe it's an improvement in some instances but I don't think it's worth the effort.
Great video!
Why do you keep trying to make me eat crisps and peanuts and drink beer? This is a conspiracy!
Great video as always..... Need more people like yourself and Dave to take pride in their work keeping everything neat and inline... Look forward to more videos from you both soon... Toodle Pip.....P.S Loved the motovlog video as well...😁📽️🧰👊✌️👍🍻🏍️
Happy birthday mate
happy bday tom
Happy birthday.....🎂🍺👍🏻
Happy birthday pal
I'm always on the lookout for your van in Marylebone. Not sure what I'd do once I've spotted it...
Happy birthday bud
Happy birthday dude
Happy birthday
I've thought since the last video that the mysterious place is Google but I could be wrong. Also, hope you had a nice birthday Tom.
U a quality sparks keep it up mate and have good day on u b day
Happy Birthday
that floor reminds me of the viacom building in camden - they've got a huge machine room with a halon system and the same raised flooring but the underneath was so packed in with thousands of cables i couldn't even see the concrete...
I wonder if anyone took the grouping derating factor into account! :'D
It's the passage of fire with open grommets when a board is offered up to the ceiling. Building control down south is always insisting you fill it with spray foam.
When I saw that regs book I thought it was mine 😂 I think everybody does that but your right I think it hinders more than helps
The fact they have used LSOH is a good idea as you said you could run Kopex. Plus LSOH is better than PVC T&E. Nice job.
happy birthday
happy bufday tom
Happy Late Birthday 🎂 From Us Nice Long Video Love It ✅ Fantastic Work Just What We (The Viewers) Look For On A Cold Ass Day 😉
My regs book is like your regs I find it helpful tho at time keep the good videos up 👍🏻
Happy (belated) birthday
Yes more “intricate stuff please”
(clears throat) 🎶 Happy Birthday 🎂 to you, 🎶 Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to Tom, 🎶 Happy Birthday to you! Another day closer to your bus pass
great bit of kit that bit of wood
happy birthday sir........
Nice job
Love watching you work! It’s great to see someone that takes pride in their work and actually wants every job to be a top job 👍🏻 can’t beat it especially with a pint and peanuts as recommended 😂
I wouldn’t mind seeing more industrial work tbh. I’ve mainly been a household spark for ten years and not don’t a lot of factory work, I’ve always found it fascinating
🎂happy birthday 🎂🎉 buddy🍩🍧🍰🍿🥤☕
Hi. You mentioned running a neutral to the light switches for smart switches etc. Would you run a 3core down to the switch from the ceiling rose to do this?
Tough books are great , I use several models best one is same as yours a cf-31. cf-d1 is another good one ,more of a tablet though.
Keep up there good work on UA-cam well done mate hove a good day mate form Greg Bouchard
Legend
Great video again Mr Nagy, you just do sparky stuff the way most of do without bumming on about regs, keep up the common sense approach, everyone else gets excited about pulling the hydro fuse and you've got the meter swinging from the tails 😂
That laser, Amazballs that adjustment helpfull Af
66 labels
66 data cables
....
66 Happy Birthday's Thomas! 😄
I work for a company that make very high end light fittings. They are designed to be fitted easily, & we include fitting instructions.
Great vid....as a plumber I would love to see a spark with a brush picking up his waste wires....I do realise it’s a dream....and I’ve got more chance of seeing a mermaid. 😂😂😂😂👍
I ask the NIC EIC inspector the same question about the use if open grommets on the DB and he said it was totally fine to do that, so that is good enough for me,
I always fill with fire resistant sealant
I only ever give an estimate, my terms of sale clearly specify rooms should be clear and time spent moving stuff is chargeable. Also covers stuff like not being liable if anything gets damaged when we move stuff.
Not a fan of T&E under a false floor. As an apprentice I took up a false metal floor tile and the lifter slipped off the tile and the tile went right through the T&E. Nice big flash and crack and took out half the office! Very red faced apprentice! Then had to replace the T&E as well as the work I was supposed to be doing. Armoured under false floor tiles all the way for me! Still remember that day 30 years on😩
I would like to see you do as much electrical work as possible but that is because I’m a 2nd year electrical apprentice who works in the commercial side of the industry so I don’t know much about domestic electrics and I enjoy your videos too aha
на 13 :25 - good video. Very nice!
Hi Thomas yes your birthday is one day old
Happy birthday friend my God bless you
Let's wait there are plenty on your way
I'm believe you was spoiled yesterday wat I believe it
In joy your live wat God given to you also as dad for you families as for you friends
Thanks for all the bright explain and show me ways in as trade Elect I'm following every video
thanks friend
Mentor
In joy your day
Having that notebook may also help you if you have to work on a building/site that's managed under BIM (or B1M), where they keep a working digital model of everything in the building
£400 light fixtures normally don't have CE marks and correct earthing either.
What they're being honest about their CE testing.
Ace vid. Yet again. Re suggestions for vlogs ? A full 'go to' reference vlog showing all tests dead through to live. A classic domestic EICR possibly. Just an idea. Certainly would be a good keeper 1 stop reference video, instead of having to flick through vlogs to find relevant bits.
we happy birthday man, hopefully your helpers will buy you lunch and a beer,. anyway, you guys have smart meters too now? we have them here in the states, sucks when you forget to pay the bill on time,.
Someone's a festool fan!
Say the customer has a new kitchen fitted and needs that rewiring, you could add the cost of the afdd to the quote. No need to add afdd to each circuit but as and when. Something the Wylex rep mention at efixx live in Bicester on Monday. Saw their new afdd decent product 👍
Hi Thomas, regarding MK not making any more Fuse Boards or Consumer Units, My son works for Honeywell, the American parent company of MK, he is an engineer in charge of the industrial robot maintenance. Production in the North Wales factory at St. Asaph is to stop at the end of this year, and the factory is to close so get as many MK boxes as you can.
Regards, from Ray in North West Wales.
I bought the bocsh green laser and it's great, the feature you haven't checked yet are mobile phone access options. You can change the setting for the laser and be very lazy and turn off the laser with your phone and show off.
as an Electrician in the US I'd love to get a closer look at the remodel boxes you use and the basic residental electrical requirements. it's two completely different worlds
Belated birthday greetings......
Also armored in those areas I don't see a point. Only when underground it's really required. Or when in industrial cases where you have sensitive equipment you use EMC cable
Happy birthday !! Here comesone: how do you do a Tv system in a house, with different settings and different gear like aerial and fm antenas.. how do you do it?
