- Gameloft is a company that I've never been the biggest fan of. They basically just rip-off whatever is popular and proceed to make bank every single year. In this video, I'll be going through some of this company's games to see if these guys are really as bad as it seems.

That was my last straw.

Gameloft was actually my childhood. I used to play their games like NOVA 3 (Halo rip-off), Asphalt 8, Gangsta Vegas (GTA rip-off). Now the only Gameloft games that I play is Asphalt 9, which I recently retired after 5 years of playing and for good reasons. They also made some Disney games on PC like Dreamville Valley (Animal Crossing rip-off) and Speedstorm (Mario Kart rip-off) but I'm not really interested
The only one I ever enjoyed was minion rush

I miss Gangstar Vegas before it became live service and full of micro transactions. It was the closest thing I had to GTA and Saints Row, and it basically was my favourite game at that point
I bought Disney Speedstorm when it cost money and now I want a refund. Me and my little sister (she’s 7) wasted our savings on that game and we did not like it. Now it’s free and I’m trying to get a refund.
I used to play a lot of Gameloft's Java Games, like Gangstar and Assassin's Creed in my old Nokia. I don't think lots of people still remember them

These games had LOTS of microtransactions to the point you can't progress further into the game UNLESS you spend a few dollars.
In Wonder Zoo missions started requiring more and more items that could only be purchased with gems, same thing with Littlest Petshop

I think you have to remember why Gameloft is such a household name on mobile market because they are like the dudes who can make console-like games in mobile. For example, here in the Philippines like pre 2008, consoles and PCs are bloody expensive especially on a 3rd world country.
But with gameloft, you can somewhat experience a free gta or any console games like experience on mobile. Like for example, Nova which I think the best titles they made which is basically a mobile version of Halo, minus the new Nova. Hell, I remember in my school Blitz Brigade is popular when it came out only to be beaten by Modern Combat 5 which took my school by storm.
Also, Fun fact: The Gangstar New Orleans you played is the 6th game in their Gangstar Series and the best one out of all them is Ganstar Rio, the third game in Gangstar.
There was even the Spider-man running game which is hella good with unique artstyles and many collectible spider-man you can get. Sadly the game shut-down.

I didn’t think they made rip off games, I only knew them as the guys behind Ice Age Village, Minion Rush, and that one MLP game that was just Ice Age Village but with ponies.

Honestly, Dragon Mania is much better than Dragon City.
There's at least strategy you can do with your dragons, a skill tree, and its not just [what does more damage?]
DML might be a ripoff, but I'll be damned to say that it at least did something different and engaging.

Tbh, with the dragon game, that's literally every dragon game, you could easily call it a ripoff of dragons world or any other dragon game on the appstore
Yeah, dude keeps talking about DML being a ripoff of Dragon City because of the farms, fruit, and breeding, but uh... Dragonvale did it first. Dragonvale came out in 2011 and Dragon City came out in 2012, so by his logic, you could say Dragon City is a ripoff of Dragonvale.
@@LuigiDOTexe I just wanted to comment this. Strangely enough, these "three" games came out one year after each other. First DragonVale in 2011 then Dragon city in 2012 and then Dragon Mania (The original version) in 2013. Dragon Mania Legends came out in 2015
@@LuigiDOTexe yes, I have played DV, DC, and DML, But DragonVale is technically at fault for creating the genre in the first place, the whole Dragon Simulation game is technically a genre of games now, kind of like how Minecraft created the whole Blocky Voxel sandbox genre, and other games like Terraria has followed it's footsteps, you wouldn't call Terraria a Minecraft ripoff, as it has its own distinct characteristics and features from Minecraft, Just like how most wouldn't call Dragon City a ripoff of DragonVale, Now You can play both DC and DV to this day, DragonVale was created by a different studio (Backflip Studios), but they went bankrupt and DV was transferred to another company (DECA), and as far as I'm aware, they are still developing the game and adding new dragons to collect.
Gangstar vegas was one of my childhood games from gameloft that i used to play and grind alot because it felt like the actual gta to me which was the fun part

Now that I think about it, it’s more like a Saints Row clone, considering the batshit insane stuff you can use in the game such as portable nuke launchers, a bass boosting gravity gun, mechs, and some zombie apocalypse type vehicles

Dragon Mania is actually really good. They're generous with premium currencies, have really neat designs and skills, and the gameplay style is more refined than Dragon City. It's also easier to use less rare dragons in higher power areas.
It's actually more F2P friendly and I've had a ton of fun with it. It's no more of a ripoff of Dragon City than a game like My Singing Monsters would be, with the only actual similarities coming from the genre they're in.
it's not really stolen it's like calling saints row a gta clone just because it's open world but back in 2009 it was kinda cool playing a 3d open world on your small glass touch screen lmao i remember playing gta 4 on my xbox 360 and whenever i get bored i would play something like gangstar rio or something it wasn't fun it was just considered cool back then to play on a small touch screen

Those are pretty good points, but the issue is that Gameloft has a track record of cloning games. If all of their other titles were original aside from those two I wouldn’t have batted an eye but you need to give them added scrutiny because of their past.

@@T3rr0r626 Yeah, I also agree with @user-cs2mx4lt3q . The thing's that gameloft's "clone" games trying to bring console/pc to mobile while the company they cloned doesn't even try porting it to mobile.

My cousin worked at gameloft in NYC for awihle. She worked on Dragon Mania, she was one of the main designers (I think) or story boarders for one of their seasonal events. Apparently, everyone hated working there LOL.
Dragon mania legends is actually a remake of their old game dragon mania.
I used to play the original when i was much younger.
About dragon mania, there's a game called dragon mania on java phone before Dragon mania legends, but I don't know exactly when the java version released

i grew up playing dragon mania legends and dragon city, always loved they were similair but each dragon had a different design, i remember they suddenly updated everything to a higher quality map and i was so confused 😅

I remember playing Gameloft's UNO game, before the currently existing UNO game by another developer was made, honestly, I miss it, and I'd dare to say it was better, at least, if you liked to play alone, as it has tons of levels for singleplayer that got harder overtime.
Gameloft used to be pretty decent when it came to mobile games in the Java Phone/J2ME Era, but they were still just kind of ripoffs really. Or licensed things. And they were definitely just a games farm. But honestly..The games all stood out on their own at the very least and they gave you a lot of freedom on what to do at times in some games. Like for example Miami Nights clearly was "inspired" by the sims but it had an unique artstyle of it's own, and an entire story while not forcing you to do anything. Sure the map would probably be locked partly until you progress the missions but aside from that you had complete freedom in what you were doing whether it's shopping furniture or buying clothes or befriending and/or romancing people. Zombie Infection was like a semi-linear-action game (although definitely inspired by resident evil, 2 (maybe with action elements of 4) specifically) but had creative level design and ways to take out zombies. People also could become infected and you saw them transform on screen, or you could save them if you were quick and it was the coolest thing ever. It definitely felt like an adventure because you could freely walk around and gather supplies and what not. They stood out and actually were creative, rather than the basic crap they shit out nowadays.
Ngl I downloaded J2ME loader on my android phone a week ago just to play some Miami nights, my life in new York and Paris nights. These were the games that made me better at socialising and picking up hints lol not even kidding.

One time, I played Green Farm 3. I so obsessed that time to complete 100% progress and achievements that makes me almost played it all day. But I strated to lose interest when the my farm is suddenly empty after gain level 25 becuase of the one annoying bug and I have to re-install it and literally lose all my progress that have I made for entire 6 months.
Forgot to mention that bug was already exist for maybe 4 years or so and Gameloft didn't even trying to fix it.
So yeah, Gameloft is indeed didn't care for their quality products. They just want to get money as many as possible
Same! I loved Green Farm 3 and even introduced my friends to it, we would joke about needing stuff like butter and all.
Whoever I completely lost motivation when I saw that all my progress was gone. I never played the game again after that cause it really killed it for me
Also, a Java mobile know as Diamond Rush is stolen from Gameloft by Bounce Entertainment Company Limited.

Cool thing about gameloft though is the fact that kids who can't afford games like cod or GTA can download games extremely similar to them off of their phones or tablets allowing them to experience those games in a way

I've been playing gameloft games since I was a kid. They make PC games on Android and I appreciate them for that even though it's obviously worse
It's Vivendi-Gameloft, as Vivendi (the remaining fraction of the corporation that was spared from Activision's merger) is the majority investor/shareholder of Gameloft nowadays.
I strictly disagree about Modern Combat being a CoD Clone. Literally EVERY first person shooter on console, to PC to mobile ALL follow the same formula.
Battlefield, If you compare the cut-scenes and the gameplay it looks like CoD, Medal of Honor looks like CoD, Titanfall looks like CoD - Those games clearly arent copies of CoD, Theres just not much you can do in a military based FPS that will make it seem all that different. Titalfall added titans and parkour, but at a base level its still the same formula.
Just because something is and FPS about the military doesnt make it a clone, copy or knockoff.

Jokes aside, Gameloft game's my childhood since I don't have a console or pc back then(I was poor). From MC sandstorm, MC2-4, Asphalt series, Gangstar Rio and many more when big gaming companies doesn't even try making premium games on mobile. But since vivendi bought them, gameloft's getting fucked up more that's the start of the downfall. Hoping gameloft for return to form even tho I have laptop nowadays.
Edit: Also, Journey Romance stories is not meet with Gameloft quality(They don't even have the logo on the corner) and I think of it as "third party" stuff. Maybe you should buy MC3-4, they still have it on playstore afaik.

Gameloft was my childhood growing up as a poor kid with a 2nd generation iPod.. Its unfortunate to see how far they fell.

When I was younger I do remember having a lot of fun playing Modern Combat 2 and NOVA.

turns out, despite having lots of ripoff games, they also managed to make licensed games of Minions, MLP, Disney(ew), Ice Age, and most shockingly Sonic so those ripoffs got them far enough to get those Mickeybucks

Gameloft made two games for the amazing spiderman movies aswell, the first one was fun and the second on didn't even follow the story of the amazing spiderman 2 movie, but it was kinda fun ig, they also made a game on the dark knight rises movie, that was pretty fun aswell

Fun fact: the founder of gameloft, Michael guillemot, is also the founder of Ubisoft. I remember a game that was very assassins creed esque back in like,2012, called backstab. Well, that just means he ripped off his other companies biggest game franchise. Another quick little fun fact, Yuri Lowenthall voiced Spider-Man before marvels Spider-Man on ps4. He was the voice of Peter Parker/spidey in gamelofts Amazing Spider-Man 2 game. It’s funny though because when you think about it, he has two companies ripping off other games. The crew=Forza Skull and Bones= Sea of Thieves and AC4, watch dogs is obviously GTA but with hacking involved.

I used to play Dragon Mania Legends because it came preinstalled on my laptop, liked it a lot until I started to run out of food. Then when I found Dragon City I though that's a rip-off, nit the other way around, but to be fair I like Dragon Mania Legend's design and art more, Dragon City looks low quality
I used to play Minion Rush (I still kinda do), I really liked playing minion races, it was SO FUN!!!! I genuinely wish that Gameloft brought that back as a permanent game-mode

I wish you would have mentoined the older titles because they are way better in terms of gameplay and also they resembled the game they copied way better. My personal favorites are: Modern Combat 2, Ganstar Miami, Gangstar Rio, Order & Chaos Online, Backstab, Splinter Cell Conviction, Shadow Guardian.

I grew up playing Asphalt 7. I completed the whole game and got every achievement. There were no ads, only addictive racing and good music. The following Asphalt games...I'd rather not think about them.
Shame about Gangstar New Orleans, I played one of the original ones on old cellphones (Gangstar 2: Kings Of LA) and not only did you actually get a fully fledged story mode (it was quite generic, two brothers becoming major players in the criminal underworld, but not bad) but you also got a decently sized map (especially for Java phone game standards) with around 3 or 4 different sectors you could visit, as well as a lot of hidden things to find and missions that i actually found quite fun! It's the closest thing to GTA San Andreas that you could get on a phone back then, basically.

It's a shame that Gameloft now introduced aggressive microtransactions and in game purchases, followed by loot boxes and pay-to-win practices. They also shift away from classic Gameloft games (Orange Gameloft text logo era) by shutting down every Gameloft classic games for mobile.

Gameloft used to have a fishing game called "Fishing Kings" that genuinely went really hard... Too bad it was taken off the appstore.
SRA (sonic runners adventures) is based off the gone sonic runners. The original didn’t even last almost a year.
