I absolutely loved this book...and Lisa I appreciate you as I love your down to earth honesty...And yes...I too loved Horn and Hardart Restaurant when I was an adolescent. My mother...may she rest in peace..used to take myslelf and my twin sister for lunch there. Oh and seeing the comment about Lord and Taylor closing...I live on Long Island New York and the absolutely worst thing about the pandemic was that my one and only store Lord and Taylor closed! Anyway I am rambling....but thank you for writing such a wonderful novel!
I really loved this book. I couldn't put it down. You are right, Lisa, not a lot is said about Italy during WWII. This is why I love historical fiction. I have learned more by reading this type of book then I did in history class at school. I visited Rome a few years ago. I wish I had known then about the Ghetto. I would have definitely wanted to see this historic section of the city.
Love your curly hair in Rome... and of course love the story about Halpern's and H & H. Favorite haunts for me too. Isn't it sad that Lord and Taylor closed there? They are building apartments instead!!! And I have to say how much I loved Eternal and how much I cried at the end. Thanks for this wonderful book!
A friend of mine and myself saw Lisa at our local public library. It was a great evening. I have always enjoyed her books but this one is especially wonderful but also sad. I listened to the audio and was very pleased I did because I so enjoyed the readers. the accents added a lot of depth to the characters.
