  • After leaving Middelpos, we travelled on a stunning gravel road which headed to the Tankwa Karoo National Park. This road took us to the beautiful view at Gannaga Lodge. Then into the National Park, where we finally reached the Gannaga Pass. We did not even know this pass existed. The views from the top were absolutely breathtaking. What an experience we had and so much fun. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #middelpos #karoo #tankwakaroo #gannagapass

Methinks you're overdue for a trip to the Karoo. Make 2023 the year if you can ... 🚗

Take a tire repair kit. The veld opposite Ganaga Lodge is the area where the baboons were caught for Christiaan Barnard to practise heart transplants. There is a stunning rocky road to the viewpoint overlooking the gorge.

That is so beautiful, you should try the Sani Pass in Kwa-Zulu Natal

That escarpment in the distance east of the lodge is the Langekloof gorge or canyon. Its spectacular to go to but was a sketchy ride 2-up with the bike. Got some great drone footage. The trip there is seldom attempted because the route is testy even to the best 4x4 tires. You can even get great drone views from the lodge. I think the drone regulations only apply in the park down below, but I think things are more relaxed in Tankwa. Many overlander UA-camrs get great areal footage in the Tankwa. (Normal drone etiquette obviously applies). You guys must definitely come back to stay over at the Gannaga Lodge.

What was your fuel consumption on dirt roads and the passes? This is a good advert for the kwid. The other small car with high wheel clearance is the suzuki.
Im really laughing at Sonia. I am exactly the same about heights 😂

There aren't many other vehicles with clearance which are as reasonable to rent and as ecomomical as the Kwid, so we stick to the Kwid, since it can rather easily navigate 95% of roads, provided one drives slowly and sensibly of course. 🚙 Our fuel consumption averages out at approximately 19km per litre, which is just incredible, especially for us who travel so often and such long distances. 👌🏻⛽ Sonia is always happy to find a new partner in the nervous department! She's not always that keen on us driving close to edges and stuff. It's so exciting though! 😁

@@DustBugsTravelthank you for the info. Very impressed with your driving on these rough roads, I think Renault should sponsor you your own Kwid. I'm guessing there've been more sales since your videos!
