Great band and Burton Cummings has an incredible voice, he's so talented with his writing and musicianship too. He even has released his poetry. Oh and can't forget Randy Bachmann on guitar!
This was, and still is, an AMAZING song! And boy, does it take me back! Burton's haircut left a lot to be desired! Fast forward 7 years (Stand Tall) and he looked completely different. They are Canadian and were from Winnipeg.
I still need to hear Burton Cummings' voice everyday or I will go mad. I love this as much as when I was in junior high. Their "Share the Land" helped me learn a set of guitar chords. I'm crazy about that one. "Undun" gives me shivers to this day. The jazz influence is undeniable, and the musicality is extraordinary. The vocals in "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature" are other worldly. Please consider reacting to these.
Hi Chad excellant choice. Did you know that member Randy Bachman left the group and started Bachman Turner Overdrive. I do believe he also wrote this song. Just thought I'd offer some insight just in case. I'm sure you already knew. You're just that smart. See ya next weekend
Burton Cummings is one of the greatest singers ever, believe still performing mid 70s. From Canada. American Woman is 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Out in 70, big hit I knew it would be. These Eyes is one of my favorite songs ever. They had many very good songs. A shout out to the band members, job well done.
I feel like 3:57 I'm cheating on the Bee Gees, they are my favorite and I'm a big fan but I have been listening to other groups and I feel a little guilty. Stay safe and God bless😊
This is another band I've heard of but have never heard any songs from them before. I didn't expect the lead singer to have the kind of voice he did either. But, I absolutely love how it - and the music - sounds! This song is definitely a keeper for me! Also, the lead singer's hair is awesome!🔥😍 Great reaction! Thanks for another great marathon! I look forward to the next one!
Oh wow, this is an oldie, but good. I didn't recognize it until it started and then it clicked and I remembered it. Good pick Chad, bravo.😊 Youre right, 60s haircut, scary enough I've seen some teens sporting similar cuts lately, that and the good old mullet.
This was VERY early Guess Who. Burton was a good looking guy...with much shorter hair later....and a powerful voice and he was a multi-instrumentalist (pianist, flautist). He wrote some gorgeous songs like "Stand Tall" and "I'm Scared". Best known for "American Woman" but they also did a song for Wolfman Jack called "Clap for the Wolfman" on The Midnight Special. Randy Bachman on guitar went on to form Bachman Turner Overdrive (Takin' Care of business, You ain't seen nothin' yet). These guys didn't get the recognition they deserved either, maybe because they were Canadian as I find often happened. Burton Cummings had one of the most powerful voices in rock. There are some terrific Canadian bands like "The Band" that originally backed Bob Dylan (The Band had one American member Levon Helm). They were known for "The night they drove old Dixie down", "Cripple Creek", "The weight" and other songs and their main composer, who was of aboriginal background, Robbie Robertson, wrote movie scores as well. RUSH was another amazing progressive rock band. No, Van Morrison is Irish and these guys were all Canadian.
@susieq9801 from Winnipeg! But Burton now lives in Moose Jaw Sk! And when I last saw him solo a few years ago at Casino Regina, he told the story of how he and Randy considered Regina their 2nd home. In the early days they would use it as their base to travel to shows all over western Canada. And Burton said every time he's back he goes to the hotel they stayed in and stares up at the window of the room they always stayed in. His shows are amazing, lots of stories between songs and he does the Guess Who hits too.
@@Zlata1313 - Hope Chad does more, maybe "Stand Tall" or "I'm Scared". I think I requested those. I saw him many years ago. Terrific group and still with the original members then.
This guy's voice is so amazing and unexpected. First time hearing this group too. Will definitely look up some of their other stuff as there's lots of recommendations in the comments, thanks everyone. Thank you Chad for a great marathon as per usual, cheers xx
@@Zlata1313 - Also Canadian members of American bands like the Mamas and the Papas, Lovin' Spoonful, Blood sweat and tears, The Rascals - Bryan Adams, Neil Young, Celine Dion, etc.
Lots of hits by the Guess Who in that era…Burton Cummings had a great voice. Songs, No Time, Laughing, Undun, Albert Flasher, Life in the Bloodstream, Share the Land, Follow Your Daughter Home, Hand me Down World, Rain dance. A very talented singer/song writer
I am grateful that I grew up when this music was being played on the radio.

Okay, one more thing. There's a great live performance video of "American Woman" on the Midnight Special channel. Check that one out too!
I absolutely love this song!

You should check out a few years after this. His hair shorter and a mustache to die for. Lol

You already know how much I love these powerful tunes. So, ditto Chad. Please react to these wonderful tracks from Burton's first solo album.
