And welcome to another God Of War video!
In this weeks back to back history of episode line up, todays we will be going back to the original series of games, set all the way back In Olympus.
So today I will be talking about a child of Zeus, the half sister of Kratos and the Olympus Goddess Of War and Wisdom, Athena!
Athena story Is a very Interesting one, whilst she had a humble beginnings and her intentions came from a genuine place of care, her corruption made her as equal parts sinister as It did kind, In the end after dying to the hands of her brother, the path of Athena quickly turn to one of blood shed and conquest, much like her other brother Ares.
The real question Is, will we see her In Ragnarok? As we do know that the fifth instalment will be the climax of the Norse series,?

When I heard that exchange for the first time. I was laughing. Athena--herself--is no saint and she had used Kratos to achieve her own agendas.

Out of all the Gods in the Franchise,Athena was always the good of them all,caring and protecting her Half Brother shows her Kindness and to be the Opposite of her Brother Ares,but after her death and Kratos opening Pandora's Box,she became the very thing she despises the most,becoming like Ares,Athena is a interesting and tragic Character that in many ways she's a Fallen Hero and deep down in a way Kratos blame himself of what he has done,there's a chance that Athena would return in Ragnarok but only time will tell.
Yeah Athena is very interesting character, there's the whole thing with her ascending to the "Higher Plane Of Existence" which God Of War developer Cory Barlog describes as a realm with higher power which implies there are Gods which exist up there which would mean in God Of War there exist higher dimensional Gods which transcend the mythology Gods on Earth, Cory Barlpg also hinted at the idea of Athena being the end all be all villain of the God Of War franchise, someone had asked Cory on Twitter if he remembered his 2010 God Of War interview where he talked about how Athena's ambition in God Of War 3 was to be the "One True God" and Cory responded to this fans question by saying "She Will"

I hope Athena comes back because she has so much more to offer I believe and how it ended with her in the end of the old trilogy and the comic book leading to four it kinda just left it ambiguous. She did show up when Kratos went for his blades but we don't even know if that was her god hood bothering Kratos or Kratos just in his own head

A distinction to draw is that Athena is the god of warcraft, the tactical element. While Ares is the god of war as in killing
I think it would be cool, if that was Oracle who gave Zeus that prophecy was Athena and she wanted everything to happen the way it did so that she could be the Queen of Olympus. But since Kratos gave the power of hope to the world, the power she desired, her plans quickly failed.
Athena was the only character on Kratos side that actually believe in him. As Kratos aunt? She gave him God hood as well..... Kratos reaction when she took the blow for Zeus was surprised. Her loyalty for Kratos was real, and the only person that actually took his side. But than again, she was manipulative in her own way.
She is his sister not aunt. But you are right, she was the only loyal family member to him.
she wasn't manipulative towards kratos before her death, not even in a slightest bit, after death she got corrupted and greedy for power so she comes back in gow3 to manipulate kratos.
It would be interesting to see Athena return as a big bad, especially since she his haunting Kratos as an astral figure in the new games.

This was an excellent presentation of Athena's history.
She passed down the task of breaking the cycle which makes 4 even better
Perhaps do one on Atreus/Loki next...to show how his lineage from his father going back to the primordials, to the titans, the Greek gods, and his mother as a jouteem...he could be the most powerful version of Loki even shown....yes MCU included..

I believe the real Athena died in kratos’ arms while the form she appears in later on in the game is just a corrupted remnant.

I hope that after this game the next one let’s us go back to Greece and finish up with Athinea cause Kratos can’t have her on his back for the rest of his life then they should go someplace else hopfully if she does show up it will drop hints at where they will go after this

Has it been confirmed that Athena that visits Kratos in the God of War 2018 is actually her and not a figment of his imagination because she only appears in his most darkest hour and never at any other point so it could be his manifestation of her because of his guilt at the time and not really her

She is....and technically she outlived all the other Greek Pantheon. Well at least the ones we've seen in game. Apollo, Artemis, and a few others that were mentioned in name or title but never shown. Aphrodite who we do see..but have not clue what happened to her...
Also it seems that she mastered her astral form even better than Zeus himself, even after her corporeal form was killed. And by lore, she was expected to be the next fitting ruler of the pantheon after Zeus and the other first/elder gods died.
Well Zeus himself did said that he needed a worthy person in the position to be the next ruler of Olympus and he did think that Athena was the right choice for him incase he couldn't do it anymore

Now that would be s good plot twist but i doubt it, by this point we would had at least a hint of some other divine being playing the long game

@@PhilthyHorseRacing exactly, if you remember on the first game there was also some murals that showed a human fighting the gods, that was a preview of some kind of the next chapters of the greek saga... right now we only have the murals about ragnarok and the simbols of the other myths that appeared on the last game, lets see what can offer Ragnarok

A deeply apologetic Ares who would help Kratos get rid of Athena once and for all, perhaps even protect Kratos' son from her as a final apology for all the pain he caused to his little brother
Common, Ares was just so cruel, Athena always cared so much about Kratos.
For Athena to end up getting ridden away would be so heart breaking.

She will come back in Ragnarok to corrupt a new innocent mind in the form of the "BOY" she can lead on atreus to believe that she can help him to unlock his godly powers that his father tries so hard to hide from him and its his destiny to kill him just like he did to his father...i can see athena doing this as act of revenge for what the spartan did to her...nice set up for the next pantheon....God of War Family Ties or some shit like that Lmao!!

She’s knowledgeable but there are greater minds in the Greek mythology. If she’s the goddess of wisdom, compare her to Mimir and his vast knowledge of everything. And I’m not talking about the games, just the mythology in general
@@tyx8898 Pretty much the only greater minds are the fates and Thetis most likely. Since Thetis has judged that the rebellion vs Zeus is false while Athena took part in it.
And Zeus in his Moiregates fate god form is very likely wiser than her aswell.

She’s the goddess of war and strategy (or battle strategy) not wisdom, whereas her twin Ares is the god of war. I don’t know why they didn’t go into battle together instead of opposing the other
