There are 2 major issues with the current police antisocial behavior . 1) Selection process ; It allows the worst of the worst to join. 2) Training ; it teaches these new recruits to fear for their lives , and react with deadly force. Not to de-escalate but to escalate encounters to situations that result in arrests. Arrests are promotions for the officers . Add to that the growing abuse many officers feel it is their right .
It is called "Cluster B" that is who they hire.
As someone who was beaten by 4 police officers and thrown in a cell for a night and let go the next day this needs to happen sooner rather than later. They broke my ribs!! For NOTHING!! I was just sitting against a wall and bam, punched in the head, twisted till my ribs broke, locked in a tiny freezing cell no blanket or sheet no mat, laying on concrete all night and let go in the morning, no charges?! BULLSH!T.

@@negativeiqpoints396 all good there was actually a guy before you saying i deserved it probably, can you believe that? Crazy people everywhere. Cops should have to eat magic mushrooms twice a month, there'd be a lot less yelling, beatings and general brutality, i guarantee it.
Leave our police forces alone, unless they trample on are rights and freedoms. Do we want police officers or do we want social workers to protect us. Trudeau has already spread enough marxism and division in our country.

Irresponsible reporting from the CBC too. The SIU cleared the accusations that police pushed Regis Korchinski off her balcony, but you know how it is they are scraping for more cases to add to their narrative.

The rcmp's track record of tragedies where their own officers have been killed because of the incompetence of the federal agency is the perfect reason why we need to spend more money on training. In the mayor's Thorpe tragedies three officers died because they didn't have this or any way to protect himself against the sniper. In the Monkton tragedy, three officers were killed because they didn't have high-powered rifles. In the Nova Scotia shooting, and RCMP officer almost lost their life while they were guarding the fire station because an RCMP Emergency Response Team opened fire on one of their officers.
Civilian oversight is the only answer. That needs to be in every city, district and province. That needs to then happen at the federal level.
Body cams and Freedom of Info needs to be a standard that isn’t handled by the police either.
Nothing this is how you keep the people divided.

We need to demilitarize the RCMP, Many times the RCMP escalates a person, We've had a RCMP member who escalated the situation when it was unnecessary, he placed his hand on his gun, when my husband mentioned that he didn't need to put his hand on his gun, the officer puffed out his chest and denied it. We told the officer that we were finished talking to him, we went inside, closed the door and the cop forced open our window when my husband was trying to close it. We even told the cop we don't feel safe but he refused to listen to us! We need this mental health service available all over Canada. I don't trust RCMP
I always wonder if the policing budget is increased is there a decrease in crime? If there isn't how can there be evidence to increase further? Why do we see correlate less money with more/increased crime?
The police are only one part in having a safe society. I guess we (citizens) have to figure out how much of the funding pie goes to them. Poverty, homelessness and mental health also make up the funding pie. Unfortunately they are not easily solved.

We need a CopWatch program across Canada to monitor police activities. Volunteers needed.
‘Defund Police’ is a terrible name. Its about reallocating a portion of policing budget. More money for homelessness, food security, access to detox and rehab facilities, social workers for mental health crisis, well trained police forces, job training, etc
