As a drummmer and musician, I don’t really look back at my work and hate it or regret it - it symbolizes different phases of my career. Maybe one thing was a little cringey but at the time it was the best thing going for me and wouldn’t have brought me to where I am without it.
As musicians in our 30s, we care less about what people’s perception is and definitely tap more into authenticity, I feel like it’s unlocking the next level of our creativity. We care less, and come at things with much more experience.
Bernard Purdy carries the mentality that I try to - I’m not the best. I’m not the worst. I have a sound and put my mark on anything I record. I can leave a legacy of music with my sound that no one else can replicate. It’s such a cool feeling to look at your past and future projects with that mindset.

Maybe cringe is just awkward growth and transitional stages. But I do think there is a time when "awkwardness" meets "wrongness" which invokes a kind of sick feeling.

Wow! I’ve been listening to Qveen Herby music for years now, that’s why I was on the YT page. I never listened to podcasts before because I grew up with my dad listening to AM radio and I thought it was….cringe…😂 But I’m so happy I watched this!! It struck a chord and I’m amazed how insightful you all are, the fact you did research and make so many relevant points. Now I am excited to listen to two season’s worth of episodes!! 😱 Please know that just from this single episode..a life has been touched!! ❤ Thank you, Qveen (and Jedi Nick)!!
