the uncomfy feeling is totally intentional, don't worry. Wilbur has said that he genuinely does not think like the character he's portraying and that sometimes people reacting to his music don't realize that it is a character and it freaks him out kdnfkdk. he's currently most known for his contributions to the dream SMP, a minecraft server with a very deep lore. he was one of the main protagonists and later one of the main antagonists. he's a genuinely amazing actor, and that's why the e-girl trilogy and the character of 'simpbur' is so effective at what it does. you should definitely react to his more serious music, he came out with an album named 'your city gave me asthma' under just the name Wilbur. its really good.
Imo he's more like an anti hero, a hero fallen from grace and now just wanting to end it all. He's flawed and he's definitely off the rails but we still rooted for him either for chaos, or because we sympathized with em. Idk I'm just rambling a tad. ALSO GHOSTBUR IS PRECIOUS

The character he portrays *IS* meant to be relatable to a certain extent. It just portrays how you should *NOT* act in a similar situation. I wouldn't be surprised if Will made the basis for his character in the E-girl trilogy off of himself in his younger years.
This is literaly the tird reaction video im watching because the first two didn't seem to pickup on how the caracter is not a good guy and had to find someone that accualy saw that

Wilbur is playing a character, he is actually a really cool person irl, and in some other stuff he has done he acts, and it is amazing. He is very good at playing unstable characters, and also characters who have experienced trauma. And in the series he plays in, his friend who works with him, has said A LOT OF HIS ACTING IS IMPROV. His album "Your City Gave Me Asthma" is very sad, and about him. He is doing alot better mentally now!
Jubilee line kills me because it has such an in-your-face message but also an entire other layer and understanding, especially if you have lived in London
So, Wil plays a character in this trilogy. His other album (the sad depressing one) “Your City Gave Me Asthma” is actually about him (sometimes) Jubilee Line he wrote because he didn’t like the suicide rates.

I WAS JUST LISTENING TO HIS SONGS! You're a psychic, Mr. Bill Also, I will say that in "The Internet Has Ruined Me" I really liked how the mouths would go over his eye(s). It kinda showed how he wasn't actually seeing what was going on since half of his vision was covered. The mouth going over his eye could also mean that either he is convincing himself through words that he doesn't have a problem OR the egirl he is donating to and obsessing over is using her words to get people to keep the cycle going so she gets more money. I'm not sure if I'm onto anything but that's just what it reminded me of and I thought it was interesting 🤷♀️ It might also just be a stylistic thing and I'm looking too much into it but whatever :) Have a great day/night! hey bill! i really think you’d enjoy his serious album, Your City Gave Me Asthma, under the name ‘Wilbur’ on spotify :) it’s only seven songs, and none of them are particularly long, but in the case you can’t listen to all of them, i recommend Jubilee Line, Saline Solution, Your Sister Was Right, and Losing Face in particular :) have a great day, wherever you are!

I don't know why everyone in the comments is telling you it is a character and asking you to check out the album when in the very beginning you clearly understood it is an album and said you were checking out the funny stuff first... BUT! Loved this video Bill! Your deep dives into the meaning of songs always brighten my day and It's always exciting to see you enjoy something I and others enjoy, it's like showing a friend something you like and it goes well :). Thanks for this, happy new year!
I appreciate him discussing topics such as these especially since he has taken a sort of big brother role with some of the people he collabs with and has so many younger fans now. Just reminding everyone that hey, don't be that guy. Get help.
i was wondering if you caught on to the lyric in “your new boyfriend” where he hints back to “i’m not gay though,” “i think about him a lot as well, maybe if he wasn’t fine as hell” bahaha that’s was p funny to me
Please listen to his older album "your city gave me asthma" It's more serious and I highly recommend Jubilee line, saline solution and losing face if you wanna FEEL something but all the other songs are also amazing!!
Thank you for acknowledging the fact that Wilbur’s character in these songs is very obsessive and toxic! You’re the first reactor I’ve seen do this All your commentary was fantastic too
It's so weird to see because I used to watch Soothouse when it first started and then went through the ARG and then the original SMP and although I no longer watch his content the fact that I used to be so involved when it was such a small community makes it so wild to see him so big to the point of being the subject of a reaction like this.
Was anyone else one of the people who messaged Will on Snapchat for the first music video? That was a bizarre time and I wanna find people from back them.
It's really cool to see all the different reactions to Wilbur's songs. By far I enjoyed this one the most. You can really see that you're thinking hard and trying to understand while not overlooking the lyrics :)
I watched a lot of reactions to his music in the last few weeks but this one is my favorite. I really loved the way you analyzed the song and lyrics and even though i listened to this song about a hundred times there were some new thoughts I really really liked. Also the bo burnham comparison is definitely true. He covered "sad" in a livestream and I think the Jason Derulo thing was also inspired by him and that song.
Never thought I'd see two of my worlds colliding but this was a nice surprise!! These songs were actually the first from a series of 4, the last song hasn't been released yet so don't worry about that! If you are in the mood for more of his serious songs check out his album Your City Gave Me Asthma, just a warning though it does touch on some sensitive topics. Wilbur wrote the album when he wasn't in a very good place but he has stated that he's gotten better since then. My favorite song from the album is Since I Saw Vienna, trust me it's super good, and the two most popular songs from it are Saline Solution and Jubilee Line so I'd recommend those. I'd also recommend Your Sister Was Right and La Jolla.
I thought there where already 4? Nice guy ballad, I'm in love with an egirl, the internet ruined me, and then your new boyfriend. Is there gonna be a 5th one?
Madeline Stroble Well technically yes, Wilbur has stated in stream that these specific songs are a part of a series!! So the series itself doesn’t include Nice Guy Ballad or Karen I Miss The Kids!
I dont think Soft Boy will ever be released tbh. He said he shelved it since he didn't have a producer to help him with it. Also in my opinion it doesn't really fit into the trilogy, In Love With An E-Girl to me is the two of them dating, then The Internet Ruined Me is after they broke up and him being upset over that and then Your New Boyfriend is after the e-girl gets a new guy and he's upset over it. Soft Boy doesn't really fit into the story he's built. Just my opinion though
I LOVE this man, Wilbur is amazing. Wilbur Soot's funny side makes SO MUCH SENSE, so yeah, I hope this made you feel a bit better. but his serious songs are so, so good. once you're in a better state, I think you'd enjoy his "Your City Gave Me Asthma" album.
It was AMAZING!!! I actually had a charcoal mask on that was trying to dry but I couldn't stop smiling through the whole video, so by the end most of it was cracked
This is so freaky, I was literally searching for reactions to your new boyfriend (cause I like to see what people think) a couple of hours ago and now this pops up in my notifications?! Too perfect
Hearing your take on this was so fun! A lot of what your analysis was like stuff I'd picked up on but like two steps deeper, with how well crafted your thoughts are it's clear you're really passionate and knowledgeable about this stuff! Leading off what you said, all three of the major character driven things Wilbur's done are very good at presenting a bad person as not sympathetic, but more pitiful, so, like you said, it avoids making the viewer agree with the character but still makes them feel bad for them. I've also just realized that they also feature themes of obsession, a lust for power, and being too stuck in your ways to seek out the help you desperately need. Dude's definitely found a niche when it comes to storytelling. Looking forward to your thoughts if you do decide to cover Your City Gave Me Asthma (the serious album)!
I’m so glad you finally listened to Wilbur! If you want to get into some of his more serious music, he has an album called Your City Gave Me Asthma. It’s really good. In the album hes not playing a character, it’s very personal and sad at many times.
Heck yes! I love the way u never really show too much of the music (for copyright reasons or otherwise) but it always gets me intrigued towards the music and to go look at it myself, also your analysis after every song is extremely appreciated, its usually a new perspective that I hadn't considered until you mention it. I knew of Wilbur already but you should definitely check out his other album, fair warning it is quite a bit sadder than this one but as others have said he wrote it awhile ago and he's in a mentally better place rn!
that's exactly why i do my format like that! (still get CR claims though...weeeee) thank you so much for saying this! it always makes me sad when people get upset about it and i'm like 'but...don't you want people to stream your faves? it's for support, not to mess with people.' thank you! *deep breath* i'm also very happy to hear he's in a better place before i dive in to the heavy stuff later on (if that's what people want)
Ah yes the smoking crater. The most beautiful and skillful build created on the server. I sure hope someone makes another one, maybe someone with 57 withers, it's just so mind numbingly glorious.
i genuinely love how well you explain why i love the songs that i love because i can never put them into words but you always phrase it so perfectly it’s lovely❤️
I love how in depth your analysis on each song is. It really opened my eyes on some things I hadn’t even noticed in the songs even though I’ve listened to them all like twenty times
This is probably my 3rd time watching this (?) and I can't really express how much I appreciate that you delve into the lyrics and meaning behind songs. It's not something I see often when people react to music (especially this trilogy in particular). I really appreciate your takes and the messages you include when you listen to them :D
"I used to sleep too" Freaking hell I cackled at that part what a mood. This was a very lovely reaction!!! I love that you actually discuss how unhealthy the mindset of the character being portrayed is. Wilbur is really good at portraying characters that are really um. Creepy and a little loose in the head. He's an awesome actor and a great story teller!
pspspsp your city gave me asthma reaction? pspspsps the songs are really good but some are really sad and it's absolutely incredible. anyways i'm typing this out before i even watched the video because i know it will be good! thanks for reacting to wilbur's music im so happy :D
honestly, i think you’re one of the first people i’ve seen reacting to wilbur’s music who is actually unsettled by the character he’s playing, a lot of people seem to think it’s relatable or just like a topical thing which is pretty surprising to me tbh. your analysis was really cool to listen to :D and i think one of the big things esp with the music videos is how good of an actor wilbur is, he’s INSANELY good at playing a character lol gonna keep an eye out for you reacting to wilbur’s YCGMA album (if you do!), i think you’ll see a huge difference there (small tip, losing face is def my fav on that album :D)
dude knowing what you’ve reacted to and been touched by in the past please please listen to his album your city gave me asthma. it’s under ‘wilbur’ on spotify and is written from his own feelings rather than his satirical trilogy. it would be really interesting to see your interpretation of it and if you can’t fit in the whole album, i would definitely recommend ‘jubilee line’, ‘saline solution’, ‘la jolla’ and ‘losing face’ they’re so so beautiful :)
At first I thought you were reacting to his Minecraft craziness cuz that’s what I watch and I was confused and then I was like oh yeah he has some music 😂😂😂
Honestly, I really loved your reaction. I’ve seen many where people basically watch the video silently or just kinda said some basic things, but you really explain your thoughts and it was really enjoyable to watch! Loved your vid :)
The “ha! Oh no” at 10:36 is exactly how I feel ahahaha. As a female that grew up in the internet era I’ve had to deal with guys like this. They’re quirky and funny and I want to be friends with but they have this underlying creepy stalkery factor and expect a relationship. Wilbur perfectly portrays the character
I have seen so many guys (the girl reactors usually had the same sentiment as you) act like hes a sad character wronged by some girl but i am SO RELIEVED to see a guy who finally gets the creepy message of the song!!!!! your reactions to the firts song had me rioting i was so happy you got it
I really respect you adding the hotline, it means a lot to see people looking out for everyone. Not only does it show that you care for the issue, you also care for your audience as well. And that is really thoughtful and cool. Love your content, and I'm excited to see more.
I loved this video!!! If you feel up to a more serious album he released “your city gave me asthma” under Wilbur. (Without the soot at the end lolol) tho fair warning there’s songs about suicide etc in the album. But your city gave me asthma is probably my favourite album at the moment, and songs like jubilee line, your sister was right, saline solution, and losing face are my favourite and very interesting to look at!
also!!! the parallels in the song with the "she's beauty, she's grace" line in all three of them!!!! and the stuff about phone calls!!! "i wanna be the guy that you fall asleep on call with", "we used to sleep on call together", "your telephone calls are my favorite place". :D edit: definitely listen to Your City Gave Me Asthma, or at least Jubilee Line (that one is my favorite from the album, I literally listened to it for 8 hours on repeat yesterday)
Hi Bill! I really appreciate how you try to analyze the lyrics of each artist you’re reacting to in this series. I think this is one of the instances where that is very important, and here you did a really good job with that.
Can you do a trying to stan Stromae? He's most known for his song "Papaoutai" but he has other great songs such as "tous les même", "Alors on dance" and "Formidable". I would love to see you listen/react to more international songs and artists that aren't necessarily in english :))
This has got to be my favorite review of Wilbur's music. I've seen a lot of videos like these, and you seem to have grasped the point of his music the best :) I really do appreciate the way he makes his music, it really just has a charm to it.
I definitely recommend checking out Wilbur’s serious album too. It’s called ‘Your City Gave Me Asthma’ and the songs are really nice. The character that’s present in the e-girl trilogy isn’t in the album, it’s just normal Wilbur.
the uncomfy feeling is totally intentional, don't worry. Thanks for this, happy new year!
I love the moments where you went "Ewww... but this is a banger"
I appreciate him discussing topics such as these especially since he has taken a sort of big brother role with some of the people he collabs with and has so many younger fans now. Just reminding everyone that hey, don't be that guy. Get help.
"Theres a lot of songs about e-girls in 2020. Two, actually. I wonder if this one's about choking" This had no business being as funny as it was.
oh Wilbur is going to love that comparison to Bo burnham.
i was wondering if you caught on to the lyric in “your new boyfriend” where he hints back to “i’m not gay though,”
“i think about him a lot as well, maybe if he wasn’t fine as hell”
bahaha that’s was p funny to me
i touched back on that lyric after the song haha a lot to unpack (which is wonderful)
Please listen to his older album "your city gave me asthma" It's more serious and I highly recommend Jubilee line, saline solution and losing face if you wanna FEEL something but all the other songs are also amazing!!
tell me why "lotta songs in 2020 about Egirls... 2 in fact" GOT ME
"I like this character!"
×Glances at Ghostbur× He's had plenty of practice-
oh that wilbur and his love of playing characters
glances at editor wilbur
Thank you for acknowledging the fact that Wilbur’s character in these songs is very obsessive and toxic! You’re the first reactor I’ve seen do this
All your commentary was fantastic too
Since you listened to Corpse Husband, I've been waiting for this
Penelope scott please! Do rät, born2run and moonsickness
sweet hibiscus tea is good too
And Lavender!!!!
Lotta True Crime is really good too!
cigarette agahow
i also like american healthcare system (song not concept obv)
I am definitely not sitting here now waiting for him to get into the DSMP RP
Same
They should make it a lot easier to get into the series ngl
It’s so hard to get friends/ccs to watch it q_q
I'm hoping he'll react to some animatics :')
@@idunno7427 He should definitely react to Dream SMP fan songs by Kanaya for example. Those are incredible.
@@anitaremenarova6662 OH MY GODS, YES. I have a feeling he'll like their newest song.
"Ah you got a youtooz", actually he has multiple, I swear they live him
wow, I used to be a twitch mod for Wilbur this is crazy.
That was a bizarre time and I wanna find people from back them.
then*
@@doriannv yeah I still have the snapchat in my phone lmao, its truly amazing to see how much hes grown in such a short time.
@@lara4268 That's really cool! It's so weird to look back on
BILL WILL PROBABLY SEE THIS SO HII, LISTEN TO HIS OTHER ALBUM AND UHHH THANKS FOR MAKING QUARANTINE BEARABLE
aww so many likes :0 seritonin go brr
I agree with everything here
yes
His other album is more serious
I agree with everything you said and I love your pfp
@@wistermorldwide U LIKE IT???? I LOVE U
He makes me uncomfortable, the character he’s potraying but him and his music SLAPS
right? it's effectively direct and yet... slaps. an interesting and unique combination for sure haha
It's really cool to see all the different reactions to Wilbur's songs. By far I enjoyed this one the most. You can really see that you're thinking hard and trying to understand while not overlooking the lyrics :)
I love how he basically talks to Wilbur directly and not in third person like most people do
it helps me not got nervous/stressed haha i highly recommend it!
Yeah the nostalgia element is his brand in general not just for his parody songs.
The trilogy is really fun because you can see him get better as a musician as he goes on
Oh 100% it was great to hear
I watched a lot of reactions to his music in the last few weeks but this one is my favorite. I really loved the way you analyzed the song and lyrics and even though i listened to this song about a hundred times there were some new thoughts I really really liked. Also the bo burnham comparison is definitely true. He covered "sad" in a livestream and I think the Jason Derulo thing was also inspired by him and that song.
Indeed! He has also mentioned in livestreams that Bo Burnham was a big inspiration to him when writing his more comedic songs!
“If someone ever said that around me I’d hit them” that is the most relatable thing I’ve ever heard
Losing Face and I'm Sorry Boris punching the air rn /lh
I WAS JUST LISTENING TO HIS ALBUM SIR BILL
Wilbur is honestly such a cool dude despite the character he plays in his music. Also he’s a Minecraft UA-camr which makes him like 10x cooler.
I'M SHAKING OMG THIS IS GONNA BE SO GOOD FUUUUUUUUUCK
i hope it was! :)
It was AMAZING!!! I actually had a charcoal mask on that was trying to dry but I couldn't stop smiling through the whole video, so by the end most of it was cracked
I love how deeply he analyzed this song that I didn’t think was that deep
GOD AJR AND THEN WILBUR??? YOU ARE MY FAVORITE!!!
*deep breath*
i'm also very happy to hear he's in a better place before i dive in to the heavy stuff later on (if that's what people want)
If he likes this he would love Wilbur’s masterful work on the Dream SMP
Ah yes the smoking crater.
The most beautiful and skillful build created on the server.
I sure hope someone makes another one, maybe someone with 57 withers, it's just so mind numbingly glorious.

Ah yes, that crate-

i genuinely love how well you explain why i love the songs that i love because i can never put them into words but you always phrase it so perfectly it’s lovely❤️
I love how in depth your analysis on each song is. It really opened my eyes on some things I hadn’t even noticed in the songs even though I’ve listened to them all like twenty times
I have never clicked faster in my life
This is probably my 3rd time watching this (?) and I can't really express how much I appreciate that you delve into the lyrics and meaning behind songs.
He's an awesome actor and a great story teller!
i love how wilbur makes these people (people reacting to his music) uncomfortable, i find it very amusing
yes!! wilbur has said that one of his main inspirations is bo burnham, both musically and comedy-wise :))
pspspsp your city gave me asthma reaction? pspspsps the songs are really good but some are really sad and it's absolutely incredible. anyways i'm typing this out before i even watched the video because i know it will be good! thanks for reacting to wilbur's music im so happy :D
Im so happy you reacted to him!! You should listen to his sadder music later on! Love ya Bill!!
honestly, i think you’re one of the first people i’ve seen reacting to wilbur’s music who is actually unsettled by the character he’s playing, a lot of people seem to think it’s relatable or just like a topical thing which is pretty surprising to me tbh. your analysis was really cool to listen to :D and i think one of the big things esp with the music videos is how good of an actor wilbur is, he’s INSANELY good at playing a character lol
gonna keep an eye out for you reacting to wilbur’s YCGMA album (if you do!), i think you’ll see a huge difference there (small tip, losing face is def my fav on that album :D)
dude knowing what you’ve reacted to and been touched by in the past please please listen to his album your city gave me asthma. it’s under ‘wilbur’ on spotify and is written from his own feelings rather than his satirical trilogy. it would be really interesting to see your interpretation of it and if you can’t fit in the whole album, i would definitely recommend ‘jubilee line’, ‘saline solution’, ‘la jolla’ and ‘losing face’ they’re so so beautiful :)
At first I thought you were reacting to his Minecraft craziness cuz that’s what I watch and I was confused and then I was like oh yeah he has some music 😂😂😂
it worries me that Wilbur is so good at acting insaning, like it's so creepy.
Hes a theater kid what can you expect😦
Honestly, I really loved your reaction. I’ve seen many where people basically watch the video silently or just kinda said some basic things, but you really explain your thoughts and it was really enjoyable to watch! Loved your vid :)
The “ha! Oh no” at 10:36 is exactly how I feel ahahaha. As a female that grew up in the internet era I’ve had to deal with guys like this. They’re quirky and funny and I want to be friends with but they have this underlying creepy stalkery factor and expect a relationship. Wilbur perfectly portrays the character
I have seen so many guys (the girl reactors usually had the same sentiment as you) act like hes a sad character wronged by some girl but i am SO RELIEVED to see a guy who finally gets the creepy message of the song!!!!! your reactions to the firts song had me rioting i was so happy you got it
*PROLONGED EYE CONTACT!*
prolonged eye contact!
*PROLONGED EYE CONTACT!*
prolonged eye contact!
WHOOO! Glad Wilbur’s getting more recognition. Also, I am once again asking you to try to stan Set It Off because they’re a really great band :]
This was such a wonderful and in depth analysis!
thank you!
I really respect you adding the hotline, it means a lot to see people looking out for everyone. Not only does it show that you care for the issue, you also care for your audience as well. And that is really thoughtful and cool. Love your content, and I'm excited to see more.
I'm so glad you watched Wilbur's stuff. Really hoping you cover his other songs too!
I loved this video!!! If you feel up to a more serious album he released “your city gave me asthma” under Wilbur. (Without the soot at the end lolol) tho fair warning there’s songs about suicide etc in the album.
But your city gave me asthma is probably my favourite album at the moment, and songs like jubilee line, your sister was right, saline solution, and losing face are my favourite and very interesting to look at!
next you should listen to his album called “your city gave me asthma” it’s really pretty (:
also!!! the parallels in the song with the "she's beauty, she's grace" line in all three of them!!!! and the stuff about phone calls!!! "i wanna be the guy that you fall asleep on call with", "we used to sleep on call together", "your telephone calls are my favorite place". :D
edit: definitely listen to Your City Gave Me Asthma, or at least Jubilee Line (that one is my favorite from the album, I literally listened to it for 8 hours on repeat yesterday)
WOAHHH I WAS JUST LISTENING TO HIS SONGS!
you should totally react to his "maybe i was boring" album-ish. they were the rejected(?) songs of your city gave me asthma!!
already got it covered haha if you check it out i hope you enjoy!
ua-cam.com/video/SswzKvHHTxM/v-deo.html
I think you’d enjoy his more serious music, just make sure you’re in a good headspace beforehand because it can get super heavy
I've seen a lot of videos like these, and you seem to have grasped the point of his music the best :) I really do appreciate the way he makes his music, it really just has a charm to it.
also you seem like a pretty cool guy ahah, deffo subbed.
I definitely recommend checking out Wilbur’s serious album too. It’s called ‘Your City Gave Me Asthma’ and the songs are really nice. The character that’s present in the e-girl trilogy isn’t in the album, it’s just normal Wilbur.
Saying “Ew, eye contact” is a mood and I am very much here for it
