Loved watching this! Your easyrig dance is beautiful to watch!
Lolol thank you! Took many years of practice 😂
Proof that it doesn’t have to be complicated to be good 👍 Nice work!
Thank you!
Beautiful camera and awesome breakdown!
Thanks Keith!
Thank you for the BTS and your explanation it's helpful. I'm using 2 fully kitted mirrorless rigs with a ridiculous amount of aputure lighting, flags and so on so on, a wagon no cart yet. Working my way up one client at a time. Truly love your content!
thanks John!
@@joebressler very welcome!
This is the inspiration I need👌🏽 Bravo 👏🏽
happy to help!
Nice looking spot... I love my 15-40 Optimo.
goat lens
Great work and breakdown!
Appreciate it! ✨
Proof that if you have a good eye, you don't need a truckload of equipment to make any location look good.
🥹 thank you
the music is cool, but a bit loud in the mix ;)
love this brotha
Thanks Justin!
nice time management
Include the finished piece... I'd like to see how it all cut together.

Kinda looks too complicated for the results but if youve got the support team you might as well!
I've worked with James before! I was BCAM yet learned a ton from picking his brain. Organically coming across vids featuring those you've crossed paths with is the coolest thing. Great breakdown, Joe! looking forward to more
Great Video
Thank you!
Hey man, genuine question. If mobility/nimbleness was important for this shoot, why didn't you opt for a smaller camera to shoot with? Wouldn't a Komodo/FX6 been better for a shoot of this nature? Was the Alexa TRULY necessary, or could you have gotten away with a smaller system? I'd love to know if something similar could've been pulled off for less money, with less gear
I definitely could have shot this on an Fx6 or a Komodo, both are great cameras. If I were working with a smaller team, I probably would have chosen one of those systems, but since we had enough support I went with ARRI. By enough support, I mean a couple of AC's + adequate production support like a camera van, PA's, etc. I'm posting a video soon about shooting a doc series on the Mini LF and get into this subject a bit more in detail. Since most cameras are getting close to "good enough" these days I think it's an interesting topic! I think you should choose whatever camera you're most comfortable with in the circumstances you need to work in.
@@joebressler ahh that's good to know! And I definitely agree that most cameras these days are getting good enough for everything. Heck, it's kinda insane that I can right now buy a Panasonic S5 iix for less than $2k and that thing basically has everything you'd need for a solid "cinema camera contender"
I myself am a photographer who's been trying to get more into video and I'm saving up to upgrade to a Fujifilm X-H2S from my current X-T3. From everything I've seen it looks like the X-H2S is a truly capable camera, and it's great to know that that camera could technically scale up with me, instead of holding me down.
Nice work. Let’s build. Sent you DM!
SUB 4 SUB
The spot looks great! Did you shoot this in 4.6k? How was the 16-40mm lens coverage with the larger sensor?
it's hard for me to remember at this point, but knowing myself I'd imagine we probably shot 4k.
I'm curious how sound was approached for a fully open Katz?
We lav’ed and boomed as usual and just accepted we were going to hear background noise. It’s ok sometimes if you can see the source of the sound
Hello everyone
I want to be a filmmaker but I have recently noticed that i have essential tremor means my hand shakes unnecessary but not problematic or noticable so I jus have this fear that can this become a problem while shooting or handling the camera or it's normal 😅
I say go for it! If you find handheld to be challenging you can alway use a tripod or other support systems like a gimbal. there are so many affordable tools available these days
Love this man. Instant subscriber!
Curious about pre-prod - were interview questions/focal lengths/zoom action/b-roll for each subject figured out beforehand? Some of the above? Some organic?
Thx!!
thanks dan! I was just the DP for this one, so can't really speak as much to the interview questions. Everything else (focal length / zoom / b roll) was organic. That's what made the shoot so fun.
Ahh gotcha. I love that though- sometimes overplanning is a creative inhibitor and induces more stress than anything.
Know where to focus the planning, trust your instincts and lean on your experience! I have to continually remind myself of this
Amaran will replace the support bracket arms (there’s a v2) on your f22c for free.
it's true, the original brackets were recalled
yeah good call out for those that dont know. the original bracket was super sketchy
Great video shots. I’m more impressed that you did this during a gout flare up. I personally know how painful gout can be. Purpose over Pain 💪🏽👍🏽
how long was each day?
we were on 10 hour days.
Great work man!
thank you!
Nice, the talking head shots with you reading could use some leaning into the fact that you read, with the concise-journalistic-almost Wes Anderson language you use it lends to something more theatrical, efficient nonetheless
Dope! Loved this!
appreciate the love!
😍
That looks incredible.
Dude I’ve seen so much of your work around NY. It’s awesome seeing these breakdowns and putting a face to it. Hope to work together some day.
wow, thank you! more coming :)
Looks dope! Always a challenge to run out of steam when having to do this many company moves
so true, but the shoot was fun enough that the energy was high pretty much the whole shoot
Full of value! New sub here
Looks like a really fun shoot! Results are very cool!
Loved it man
thank you!
I really like that you shoot lots of BTS and used them in the video, it helps someone like me to understand you those shoots were exactly made 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was great. Nice work!
Nice!
Thanks!
Awesome!! thanks!
Fantastic stuff, please keep posting insightful content like this!
I have a bunch more planned + shot!
3:42 love that clear bag over the light
lol I think it started drizzling a bit
@@joebressler ohh I thought it was meant to be diy highlight 😄
Woooo! super dope!
Thank you 🙌
Wow!!!!
Thanks!
dope work!! just sent you an IG DM!
