Every time I go visit my mom…I get sooooo overwhelmed by the amount of stuff and decor. Even throw blankets. There is always at least 5 laying around. 6 throw pillows on the small couch, figurines and knick knacks, and just sooo much stuff that you can’t even set anything down. I get so over stimulated. Every decor item we have at my apartment is meaningful or someone made us. It’s not a lot and I love it! Plus we do have two small throw pillows on the couch but only for supporting my back and keeping my lumbar adjusted.
SO we actually try not to eat any snacks while watching a movie or a show. That was one of my bad habits that made me want to keep eating. So when we watch something thats all we do is watch something, if we need a drink we just pause the movie or show and go grab a drink in the kitchen. Once we are done we head to back to what we were watching. I know boring lol but this has truly helped not over eat like I was doing.
I don’t have a coffee table either and just use my ikea kyree stools that are usually at the dining room table. If we have guests we slide over our storage ottoman that stores games and random items but also doubles as a piano bench
I live with a cousin of Milo's (yay to brown & white tabby parents out there!), and Knick Knacks basically = cat toys. The best thing I ever did to eliminate knick knack clutter (and clutter in general!) was to get rid of alllll my occasional tables AND refusing to own a coffee table. I don't miss the bruising from my Mom's HUGE, black '70s coffee table!
I had already removed the throw pillows from the couch, but had them stored in a closet. Finally donated them this week. Now I have one medium sized pillow on the couch in case someone wants to lay down there. I have some extra pillows stacked at the back of the chair that I use occasionally because I need them for my feet to reach the floor. Someday maybe a chair that fits me will be purchased.
This was such a good list, I'll add movies. I collected so many before, and I'm done. It felt like a hassle as we had to move a few times. I love my movies, but a lot of us reach for digital.
I do feel the same sentiment about knick knacks, but admittedly the only thing I collect that are knick knacs would I guess be considered Funko Pops, but they're signed by celebrities and I have an extensive shot glass collection.
Knick knacks are the worst and don't look like decor. Years ago, I used to have so many faux plants in those mini pots and other things that made my bedroom look like a shrine 😅😂 Don't get me wrong. I have cats. I love plants. So faux plants are a great option, but it was just tacky.

I know you and boyfriend watch a lot of movies and TV, so I'm very curious where you set your drinks, bowls, snacks, etc without a coffee table ❤
I use a step stool or I just hold it.

I love how serene your room looks. I am going for it today and starting with Knick knacks!😂
I didn't know that about apple, great to know!
Knick knacks and throw pillows are a definite no for me! Just a waste in my opinion😅

I also have no use for coffee tables!
