sine tilt can be gained by holding the club with the left hand then placing it on the ground, then let the right hand swing down freely then placing it on the club, making the shoulders tilt. but have found the bump of hips to the left does help.

Reverse pivot is caused by straightening the trail leg, nothing more. Maintain flex in the trail knee, and brace inside the trail foot, it is impossible to reverse.

+whetedge Thanks for the feedback. You can actually reverse pivot even with the trail leg still flexed if you do not shift your weight into the trail side and you setup with you spine in a vertical position. Try it out...stand 50/50 with your weight and you spine vertical and without shifting and keeping your trail knee flexed, rotate your body. Your weight will fall to the lead side and your spine will lean more towards the target which is consistent with a reverse pivot no? - Chris Tyler

RotarySwing.com Golf Instruction I agree, it can be done, but I have yet to see a reverse without the trail knee straightening, so I will settle for it being the major cause. Leg straightens, trail hip goes up, spine tilts toward target. In most cases as you describe, where the knee stays flexed, there will be a reverse and a sway (weight on outside of trail foot) as the trail femur rotates away from the target. Stay flexed and braced, and make sure the head is over the inside of the trail thigh at the top (spine tilt at address as you advocate, or move the head there during upswing. Either works fine).

So, during the backswing, does your trailing hip not go higher at all? So, there should be no tilt at the top of your Backswing? Thanks.

Would this cause a very steep moon shot drives?

Yep, if your spine is leaning towards the target at the top of the swing, then you will recover with your spine leaning more away from the target in the hitting area, which can create more of an ascending blow on the golf ball than you want.

I have a question when I start my backswing should I start with rotation and shift my weight to the back foot or do I need to rotate to the back foot I would like to no witch one is the right one to practice tips or advice would help

+Taylor Carter Hey Taylor great question here. It is best to shift your weight into the trail leg first and then begin to rotate your body into the backswing. Eventually, you can tie the shift and rotation into 1 move together once you become more comfortable with it.

Hey, I seem to have a slight reverse pivot as I keep my weight on my lead foot throughout the backswing as it helps me to hit the ball then turf. How would I go about correcting this but still hitting the ball first.

+Dec Grogan Hey Dec, you want to be able to use weight shift in your favor in the golf swing and you also want to be able to use it to prevent the reverse pivot. Once you shift your weight and load the trail side to start the swing, you want to make sure that you do not allow too much secondary axis tilt down in the hitting area so that you can control the bottom of the swing arc and compress the ball properly. We have a drill on the site that is called the level shoulders drill and you could use that once you get your weight shift and rotation to the top of the swing sorted out. Good luck on your game - Chris Tyler
