    Was looking for this right after watching your sizing tutorial. I've been making digital scrapbooking kits with photoshop for 20 years but since there's so many apps out there now that let people make their own it's not popular anymore so I'm not making any money anymore but I still love using photoshop and designing so I'm going to start making wall art. So I just wanted to say thanks for your videos!

    For a business that's creating mockups would this be the template to drag and drop the customers image? Or do we have to create other templates to do this. Could you create a video on this please, the various images that you could have as a base mockup picture and drag and drop the customers image. I guess what i'm trying to get at is; if there's an easier method to do this task faster like a script?

    Hey Brittany. I have a question about erasing a layer in Gimp. I recently bought a mockup for a product and needed to cutout a part of the image because it overlapped. My issue is I can't remove the outline that I cutout so now when I put the layered picture on top of the picture on the bottom it's moving a section in the shape of the layer on the top. Is there a way to tell the program that I don't need that layer to be surrounded anymore? I hope you understand what I mean. Just a suggestion can you please do a layered mockup video for people like me. Thanks

    Thank you for all the great material you have uploaded Brittany! It’s so helpful.
    I recently started using Gimp since I wanted to do some light photo editing. There is one thing that really confuses me on Gimp’s workflow. Every time I apply a change to a layer ex. adding drop shadows or changing colour temperature, the change is applied without a problem. However, I’m really struggling to find a way to modify the actions I have already performed. For example if I decide to go back to colour temperature to modify the values I added before, I only see the default values on the menu. And in my understanding the program applies the new values on top of the old ones. There is no way to see and edit the values I had entered before. This is really confusing. The only solution to this that I’ve found is to keep undoing actions until you get to the specific action you want to redo. This means that you lose all the rest of the work and actions you have performed after editing colour temperature for example. I am pretty sure I’m missing something here. It should not work like that. I tried to look online but couldn’t find anything. I would really appreciate any help!

    Thanks for another helpful video. I've learned a lot from watching your videos. 👍One thing that you didn't mention though that viewers need to be aware of is that "free" images from freepik and other sources require attribution. It can come back to haunt you if you don't give proper attribution for the art or pictures that you use for free. Keep up the good work.

    Hi Brittany! Really enjoy your helpful and thorough videos, but I have a question I haven't seen address by you (nor anyone else) so far. When choosing mockups for downloadable prints, wall art, etc., does it really matter whether your images are being shown in a *frame* only, or whether they're shown in a frame within a "room" (or "wall") mockup? I see both styles used quite frequently, and was just curious if you've seen any definitive advantage in using one style mockup over the other?
    Thanks!

    • @astoldbybrittany4342
      @astoldbybrittany4342  Рік тому

      Hi there, I personally think a mixture of both is helpful. It helps the customer view just the art itself without any distractions, but also if it's within a room the customer can imagine it in their own space. Hope that helps!

    Hi Brittany, I'm enjoying your videos so much. Thank you! I was wondering how long did it take you to make your first sale on Etsy. I really don't want to go down the rabbithole of watching videos on UA-cam about selling on Etsy, I want some down to earth advice and I get the feeling you can provide it. How many listings did you make to start? Thanks!

    • @astoldbybrittany4342
      @astoldbybrittany4342  Рік тому +1

      Honestly: I think I got lucky. I made my first sale in 1 week. Someone reached out and said they like one of my pieces but wanted a similar matching one and asked me if I'd make it. I said yes because I was trying to make a sale, and from that it took off! It was a very niche subject.. Line Art for Bathroom decor. I noticed it was hard to find on Etsy so I made a couple products to fit that search.
      I'd say, keep your head low and keep going. Try to make products that fit a specific search parameter. Like "Rainbow bear art". That's really specific. "Abstract Art" wouldn't get you much. I started with around 15-20 products if I remember correctly. Pinterest really helped me too, I had a couple of semi-viral products that got me some traffic. But honestly I can't be bothered with all the external marketing. I hate it lol. It is SO MUCH work to do everything so I don't, and as a result I don't make that many sales. But I'm ok with it, it's just a little extra spending money for now :)
      In my totally anecdotal experience from doing this a few years, I honestly think the people who make the most money are not selling art. They're selling templates of some sort. Xmas card templates, bday card templates, resume templates, recipe card templates.. anything a customer can edit simply to suit their needs but not have to design the whole thing from scratch. But I don't know that for a fact.. just my observations.

      If its not too much to ask, I kinda faced an issue yesterday while creating a mockup. I had already made a mockup for an art in gimp as per the ratios and dimensions and the size of the each art were perfectly under 10 MB (as etsy only allows files below 20 MB). However the mockup I was creating for a different art yesterday was also as per the same ratios and dimensions however the size of each prints exceeded 20 MB. I have no idea why that would happen and how to reduce the size without impacting the dimensions. It would be so great if you could suggest anything 🥹

      @astoldbybrittany4342  Рік тому +1

      @@dejaysam ok so for this one I'd play around with the "quality" slide bar on the step where you export the final image. I usually default to 100 but if the image is too large, you can try to bring that down a couple notches and the result will be a smaller file. It won't look any different to the naked eye!! Just don't go too far down 😊 like prob not past 85-90

    i give you points for revealing backstage secrets. Seriously as shopper I find these mock a little cheap and misleading. The fittings and setup get a tug to left, tilt to scale to fit. 50 percent of art work go to frame and hanging. Its hard to take an artist serious if he/she/they cant mount and frame the art work into a gallery. When you start crossing this line..... I could manipulate your art work with my computer controlled. I could produce a faster computer hand drawn in pencil, chalk, marker, laser, layers or paper or fabric, a combination of 3d printer and laser cut..... The list is endlless so why should i buy your art when i could produce an inspired version that meets all my wants and needs. When ever i can i shop local i know how hard it is to run a business. Dont be fooled by all the sales or all the fancy text and faux gallery. Fall for the art because it speaks to you..... P.S you can fake etsy sales just like instagram followers. like at a trade show you can offer half off if they pay now and order with free shipping to your home address so your percious art will arrive when you return fresh and hangable so you can enjoys the show with out lugging it arouynd in the car or plane or hey send it as a gift..... Hello hundards of. sales with the snap of a finger in 1 day. Thats just trick ......Its easy we all know how much time it takes to sort all the order and triple check for correct address and product oh if you have a digital only shop its so easy to partner with a club to buy each others work of own A person will pick the one with the most sales. i guess its easy to say i made a 500. percent profit from my art im a real artist. Apple is know for this and they are the top selling standard. YOLO ZERO F GIVEN. Right?So are you an artist of a wolf on etsy?
