My brother has a 15kw Generac and he's had several non-start issues as well. I don't know if his problems were similar to your internal regulator or not. I have a 40 year old 15kw Onan I got off a jobsite where I was working and installed it close to 20 years ago now. It had 720 hours on it when it was given to me by the maintenance men on site. Powered by a four cylinder onan air cooled engine that looks like it's about the size of a B or C Allis engine. I had to replace the points and condensor one time and that's about it. I had to fire it up one night about dark at 0 F and blowing snow like crazy. The last time I had to use it was another night time startup with freezing rain and sleet. It sure would be nice to have an 'auto-start' function like you guys with the Generac's. LOL. Also mine is so huge it looks like an an old power unit for a saw mill or a huge enclosed air compressor. Good video...and camera girl did a great job on the sign !!
I always use ‘starting fluid’ when I run my generator. I am not set up for automatic starting. I run the generator about every month or so. No problems for 10 years.
I think my gas regulator is bad too. It cranks a long time before finally starting up and running. How hard was that to replace and where did you find the part?

It's nice to see that you maintain your generator, but you have an Evolution controller, which needs the recommended updates installed, unless you have wifi for auto updates and time keeping. or a service center can update it for you.
Can you jump start the battery with your vehicle? We're out of power and my generator battery is dead. New battery, but somehow generator auto start was off and wasn't charging battery.
I believe I have discovered an intermittent bug in the Guardian controller. If you have run the generator using a manual start, for any reason - cleared a fault code and want to test it, or you have been away for a couple weeks, etc.; when you want to end the test run AVOID USING THE STOP BUTTON. Instead, press the AUTO button. If there is no backup power demand at this time, the generator will shut itself off and be ready to start on the next start command, whether it be from the controller (i.e. a power outage has occurred) or with a manual start command. I have found that using the STOP button can result in the next start command failing with a "Loss of RPM Sense" code. This only crops up about once in twenty start cycles, after being shut down each time using the STOP button (plus Enter, unplugging the 7.5 Amp fuse and putting it back in, etc.). I did not write the firmware in the controller's micro processor, but it seems like going from running on Manual to pushing AUTO, lets the controller go through a shut down routine that leaves the RPM Sensor register in a positive/confirmed state, and while cranking the engine, the controller will be in a zero fault status. However, by shutting down the generator using the STOP button, intermittently the controller will see a Loss of RPM fault status, and interrupt the starting process. I could be wrong, but going from running on Manual to pressing the AUTO button, has eliminated starting problems on my Generac Guardian backup generator.
Murray, I have seen this a few times too. I would guess they are not managing the scope of some local/global variables and its accessing trash. Thanks for letting us know.
Update: the above process hasn't been working lately. The following seems to be working: to test the generator; from Auto press Stop Enter Stop Enter Stop, then press Manual. From running on Manual, press Stop Enter Stop Enter Stop, then press Auto. To test that the generator, at rest on Auto, is actually ready to run (I don't trust the green light); mimic a power outage by switching off the main breaker at the transfer panel. Something else I discovered this past week, the Evolution 2.0 control panel, part no. 10000003293 was phased out December 2020, and the replacement offering is part no. 10000003275 Evolution 2.0/Sync 3.0 WiFi Control Panel. So what was wrong with the 3293 control panel?
Tahoe you may a fuel or spark problem. Remove a spark plug and ground it to see if it sparks during crank. If it does then you know its a fuel problem. On my generator, the internal gas regulator was replaced with new. Thanks
I’m having the same issue with my generac 16K generatior.. it is definitely propane related.. propane going into the generator, but not firing when trying to start.. my manual stated either a fuel solenoid, or a card has went bad telling when to fire
I don’t get that there are 3 regulators. Seems 1 at the tank at twice the psi and the internal regulator is all thats needed. I now have a new problem when gen is fully loaded ( hi amps ), it does not hold consistent RPM. I will test psi soon
@@TripleTRanchAndSawmill thank you I'm going to try that next. I gave it a valve job. And I thought I had it because the exhaust valve was too tight but just now on its weekly self test it was backfiring and acting like it was flooded I could smell propane. So I think that's what you're talkin about. It messes up the stepper motor not getting enough propane
I am having a similar issue although mine only starts (sometimes) by tapping the regulator. Did they replace the solenoid only or both solenoid and regulator? Thank you.
Doug I’m still on the steep learning curve on making videos. So I forget to video sometimes the most important parts ( like showing occluding 0.14 port or taking PSI readings along the regulator chain). The main theme was supposed to be homeowner doing service but turned into a repair that took probably a week. However, I revisited this generator after an electrical storm where the lights would dim in our house. In this video I show gas supply at the different regulators and current delivery: Troubleshooting Bogging Generac ua-cam.com/video/Ayqr3M1-CFo/v-deo.html
Mike, I have the same device on my 1964 sawmill LP tractor. I think of it as a trap to give more fuel . Generac calls the entire assembly with the 2 butter fly valves a mixer. Thanks for watching
Well, the video title says "Will Not Crank". I see it "cranking" just fine. What I don't see is it starting.
Just wanted to come back to your page a tell you I had the same problem and your fix did the trick thank you for your video.
Ur welcome. That’s what we are about here! Repairing old equipment and sometimes old people (us)!

So it's a pressure regulator similar to what's on my gas grill?
Bondo yes it was starving for fuel

They replaced both. If you find a way to buy the parts please let us know by leaving a comment. Hope u get it fixed!

Did you replace the valve?
I replaced the gas regulator inside the cowling
Did u replce that internal regulaor
Yes, the hi pressure, medium pressure, and internal regulators are all working
What did you do to Fix issue??
At 5:15 i show the part that was replaced off camera
That was information, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
So did you replace the solenoid or the internal regulator ?
Replaced GENERAC 0L6733B FUEL REGULATOR FOR AIR COOLED 3/4" INLET
What did you do to fix the gas reg
Replaced the internal regulator with new
GoodJob!
Wish you would of shown how to fix it
Yes made the video after the repair and should have fired up the camera!
The same sound when I try to start my ATV low on gas in the tank.
You did not show the viewers how to diagnose and repair the generator. We watched you spray glue and drain oil.

I've never seen a gas/propane. Only diesel/propane. I work on diesel generators.
huh.. Ive never seen a diesel/propane only gas/propane... I work on gas generators. Interesting to know it exists.
get a CUMMINS ONAN POWER GENERATION RS 20A .
