Very good tip! I also recommend cover those ground connections with, DeoxIt or Fluid Film or Dielectric Grease, to slow down corrosion at those points.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I purchased in 2021 the 22kva standby generator. Used propane until now, September 2023. Switch to natural gas now, gas company check the water column at back of generator, it is correct, valve on top of engine is switched to natural gas, the digital board is switched to natural gas, the engine will fire up but shutdown in just a few seconds. Switch back to propane gas and it works as it should. I saw in your video you mentioned switching to No for idle speed. Not sure if that’s done, would that cause engine to shutdown? Do you have any suggestions?
How long of a ground cable did you get? I have the same unit and I get Overcrank 1100 all the time. I want to try a new ground wire and see if that helps. Thank you!
Sorry I didn't measure. I custom make them in my shop so I just grabbed some and cut it to length. Use a piece of string or small rope to do a rough run and you'll know how long of a cable you'll need.
Only a couple months. I found one of the emergency shut down switches the rubber seal wasn't installed properly not allowing it to make full contact. I took it apart, assembled and it's been fine since. So if you're having emergency shut down message, check those switches.
6 years old 22000ke genarac 124 hrs blowed sparkplug genarac says too bad so sad. $900.00 later. 😢😢😢 genarac, I realize it's out of warranty, but 124 total run time for 6 year old unit. Maintenance preformed every year.
I am hoping that is the problem with mine because I cant get rid of the 2800 error. And now that you mention it the rocker on the back side doesn't feel right.@@AnthonyJ350
@@AnthonyJ350 They don't. I bought a Generac a few years ago, but couldn't operate it until now (Apparently i had to upgrade my gas line first). I couldn't by pass the 2800 code, i think the interior switch is not good (again, I never used this generator) I called Generac and they told me to call a technician. It doesn't look like that they will cover it, maybe the cost of the bad switch that they sold me.
@@AnthonyJ350 Thank you. I just went out and opened the rubber seals on both switches. Still have the 2800 error code. Left a message for a technician. I wish my wife would listen to me, to buy a cheap gasoline generator instead...
Quiet mode is bad regardless its hard on the engine also exercise should be Sunday if your in rural area Monday if in a neighborhood the reason why is if there's a problem its most likely gonna get fixed sooner because the weekend stalls everything this 5 minute exercise is ridiculous these machines don't run enough moisture is getting into everything not just oil I run load test 12 hours a year 1 hour a month during damp weather I go manually start it on exercise day run it around 20 minutes also these engines need to be broken in immediately after install 5 minute burst is probably the worst way to break in engine besides taking the oil out it an engine needs heat cycles the rings need to work 50% load at least 8 hours few at a time then change oil over to true small engine oil 100% synthetic with proper ZDDP not emission standards car oil very low ZDDP not engineered for air cooled applications especially LP or NG Briggs and Stratton 100% synthetic 5w30 or Amsoil small engine oil 100% synthetic 5w30 are both excellent for extended outages very little burn off and 1300 ppm on ZDDP vs oils like Mobil 1 at 750 ppm ZDDP or so and it is not no where near 100% synthetic its ridiculous they can label full synthetic on these big name oils
he may not be but I am. Generics only run for about 12 minutes each exercise. This can't be changed. BUT it is the reason your oil is milky when you change it. Generics answer is to tell all my customers to go out and run the generator ome hour per month beyond the regular exercise to get the engine hot enough . If you have one that's 9 or so years old you WILL get a low AC voltage error at some point. Generac messed up on the measurements for the brushes and they won't wear right. Have to pull the back end of housing. The muffler. The generator fan (plastic and breaks half the time) Then pull a bulkhead just to change the $16 brush block. BTW it comes with 2 washers to space it correctly. Known problem and from the get go Generac refuses to warranty. Thanks for the feedback!
Yep. Thanks man. Once switch to "NO" quiet mode it starts up beautifully. Didn't have to mess with ground stuff.
Glad it worked for you 🙂
Merry Christmas and Thank You’ll for information
But first thing I do is check oil level and fuel valve open
Merry Christmas!
Excellent Thanks great info and I totally agree Grounds are so often overlooked.
Thanks so much for watching!

Try opening and closing the fuel feed valve at the source, incase it's not open all the way.

After you reground the unit, let us know if it made any difference.

Generac are the worse generators in the world
Also clean battery terminals every 3 months

What happened to the spark plug exactly?
So which one was the 2800 error? I got a 1600 and a 2800. Thanks.
2800 is a switch issue. Disassemble because I found the rubber seal isn't installed properly preventing the switch from rocking properly.

I have code 2098 wiring error. I’m trying to trouble shoot, but I’m not sure what to do!
I would contact Generac's tech support line. They're super helpful.

Not running on quiet mode will get you fined in most municipalities.
Do most run fine in quiet mode on natural gas? That was the suggestion straight from Generac.
I don't think so. The difference is minimal if any. Those suckers are noisy regardless. @@AnthonyJ350
