I remember the note at panther creek and I took a picture of it aloe plants drawn on it also I was frustrated that day my car wasn't was leaking water alot but I continued to move forward I even used my exes phone to continue my journey and yet the scammers followed and hacked even more very sad when people go after those who have love and kindness in there heart

Good rendition of Psalm 1, it would have been better if the whole text had been used.
I wanna ask what version of the Bible is. It's not NIV.
I believe it is kjv
What translation are you using?
I (Shane) use a combination of Bible translations, primarily the ESV, KJV/NKJV, NIV, LSB, and NASB, to put the lyrics together. I also study the Psalms extensively with commentaries from Boice, Goldingay, Ross, Henry, Spurgeon, Calvin, and others to make sure we are capturing “the essential meaning of every verse.” I do not follow any specific translation word-for-word, though some songs may come somewhat close. I try to balance faithfulness to the literal text with the aesthetic quality of the song.

Greetings brother! First of all, thank you so much for this articulate and important question. I appreciate feedback from our listeners, as I am always challenging myself to be as Biblically faithful as possible while making the very best music I can with God's help.
Here is my response:
1.) I believe that the meaning of the 2 verses you reference are contained in the lyrics of the song. "Nor stands in the path of sinners" is a metaphor that means that the blessed man does not participate nor associate with the way of sinners. The song sings "Blessed is the man who does not heed the counsel of this world, and blessed is the man who does not conform to worldly ways." This is a more modern way to say the same thing.
As far as "nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous," this idea is a parallelism of the previous line. Parallelism, as you may know, is a re-stating of the same idea in different language. "The wicked shall not stand in the judgment" is the same concept as "nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous." Sinners will be judged and rooted out of the fellowship of the righteous. Now with this line, I do admit that the idea of the sinners not being able to stay in the congregation of the righteous does add some extra detail to the idea, and in live versions of the song, I do include the 2nd half of that line for that reason.
2.) I do not agree with your assessment that these lines are the "two most important verses" in the Psalm. Not only are they not full verses, but I do not agree with the idea that some verses are more important than others, which is why I aspire to include "the essential meaning of every verse" in our Psalm songs.
I also do not agree with your implication that not singing these two phrases verbatim "softens" the text or minimizes the need for sinners to come to Christ. The song speaks very plainly of the wickedness of the wicked and their fate should they not repent.
3.) Despite my defense of the song, it's worth noting that I wrote this song 15 years ago. My process and my diligence with regard to including every nuance of every idea in the text possible has, I believe, greatly improved over the last 15 years, and I think you would see that from Volume 4 on our songs are even more verbatim with modern English translations. I even plan on writing a new and improved song for Psalm 1 in the near future. In the meantime, feel free to enjoy this one! Love you, brother!
