Hopsin on Being Self-Made Millionaire & Beef With Funk Volume Co-Founder

  • Hip-Hop fans were stunned after Hopsin announced that he was leaving Funk Volume after falling out with co-founder Damien Ritter. The "No Words" rapper went into detail about the breaking point he had with the way he was being treated at the label, as he claims that Ritter repeatedly told him that he "didn't work hard," which he found to be disrespectful. Hopsin explained that after the third time Ritter insulted him, he had enough and decided to leave the label.
    During the conversation Hopsin also spoke about how his rise to becoming a self-made millionaire in his late 20s, which he said he always knew would happen if he put in the hard work to realize his dreams. And while he was able to make a lot of money off of the Funk Volume label, Hopsin admits he was young and naive when he gave Damien a 50/50 split of the company when first starting the label.
    To hear more of what Hopsin say about the situation, including dropping a diss track at Damien, and the current status of Funk Volume, hit the above clip.

    I am kind of disappointed with this interviewer. Hopsin is a fantastic speaker, he is real and he speaks the truth and is very literate.. but this interviewer doesn't seem to know anything about Hopsin before this interview.. he is going off of lyrics in the song.. he is asking questions and stating comments that make him seem like he doesn't listen or follow or know who Hopsin is except what he pulled up before this interview because Hopsin is relevant because of the drama.. It is extremely disappointing..

  • @motopolak
    @motopolak 8 років тому +5

    So much respect for Hopsin. Very few artists these days speak the truth like he does. It sucks that he is out of Funk Volume because he essentially built it from the ground up and it was very dear to him, but I'm glad he disassociated himself with Damian Ritter. I look forward to how Hop continues to grow in this new direction under Undercover Prodigy.

    I knew Hopsin was 30 or around 30 but it's still weird to hear him say. He seems younger than 30. Also at the end he touched on what the other Funk Volume artists are doing and he mentioned Jarren Benton is doing his own thing now. I never really followed Jarren Benton like that before but he seemed like a cool guy and I got a lot of respect for him after hearing his take on this. Dizzy kind of sided with Dame, but Jarren didn't really take any side. He pretty much said he doesn't have a problem with Dame like Hopsin does, but he can't go on with Funk Volume without Hopsin. It said it just doesn't feel right to be claiming Funk Volume if Hopsin, the guy who started it, isn't even part of it anymore. That's real shit, they should all have that mentality.

      +Dead and Gone go ahead and explain why he's pseudo-intelligent with some logic and reasoning. include some facts and real examples.
      otherwise your opinion is shit and doesn't deserve to exist

      Goat MsC okay, he says shit like "did the man who invented college go to college, okay then". He is the most ill-informed pretentious piece of shit. Just listen to "Fly", I can barley listen to it without cringing.
