I took the baffle out of my 84 xr250r back in 1991. One screw & it pops out. It still sits on a shelf.

@@deborahchesser7375 Bummer. My bike sits in a 40 foot container with the rest of my 3 bay garage innards I lost in the 2009 housing collapse. I run it every November, for 5-10 min., ride it in circles then drain the gas. I'm now 60 y/o and although I'm still as athletic as I was in my 20's, I'm afraid of getting injured, as I'm saving like crazy for retirement when I'm 70. No work= no pay.
I cannot overstate the importance of saving a nest egg for retirement. Time flies. Start saving NOW!!

What you think. 250r be more fun? Just wondering if the 500 is to much? Back when I used to ride all the time I tried a cr500 and it was way to much for me. I’m 210

I weigh 130lb and am 16, this was my dad's birthday gift and I ride it all the time.
If I can ride it jumping off from a 250r you should be perfectly fine! First and second gear is a little jumpy when you are getting used to it, but it's by far the most fun bike I've ride and I've rode a track 450.
Perfect balance of power/weight/grippy or fishtaily depending on what you like, it goes on.
      Love these bikes.

I have an 84 XR250R, identical to this 500 in the video appearance-wise. I've had it since 1990. I rode a 500 back in the late '70's when I was about 15y/o. 500 is a widow maker! Too much bike for a 15 y/o at 130 lbs? I'd like just a little more power for wheelies, thats about it.

01:28 Man, those hard ruts can phukk you up! Gotta get to the point where you ride so fast you just kiss the tops of 'em. But I would never ride a widow maker.. the xr500r. I'll stick to my 84 xr250r, though I'd prefer a 350.

@@DStoddard It's been called "The Widow Maker". I'm 60 y/o.. still riding my 84 XR250R since 1990. Put new piston & rings in it in 2006 when it started to smoke.
      Had a' 76 MR175 before that.
If you take your baffle out, it has a nice loud throaty sound. Neighbors not so happy though.

They started marking the XR600R in 1985. Any Honda bike, in good condition, is worth buying... for a good price... these engines don't need much work, and they make tons of power.

Seller claims he’s been on the highway with it for miles, and since I haven’t Rode one in skeptical about that.
I plan on making 130mile trips on it to visit family and other rider friends, as well as some canyon stuff. I’d probably put Shinko 705s or some other road tires on it if I pull the trigger.
