I have to admit...that shot of the Cobra banners dropping down over the front of the White House is probably visually the most true thing to the spirit of the 80s cartoon ever. That one shot captures the essence of what a GI Joe movie should be, so perfectly..
I agree. I also like how it sort of evokes the image of a Cobra's fangs and how having Zartan standing in as the President with Cobra running things in the background gives that government "teeth" for the first time.

Seriously it's ridiculous that so many Joe fans hate the live action movies. So many of them say they want a realistic version of the characters when every army movie is usually written without any of the fantasy and science fiction elements G.i.joe has included for years. Plenty of films made for people who love that kind of story. Some are outstanding, but I want my G.I.Joe to be like the best Man from Uncle spy genre shows G.I.joe and S.h.e.i.l.d. were based on.
I think it has become one of the problems with a lot of different fandoms these days. Everyone wants to be an armchair director, screenwriter, actor, etc. and they forget just how much actually goes into making a film or tv show. It's fine to dislike a project because it doesn't match what you may remember, but to outright call it "trash" etc. because they didn't do it they way you wanted them to is a bit of a stretch. I think many fans forget that these projects aren't made only for them, they are made to bring in money from all sides, casuals and fans alike. No fandom on its own is truly big enough to completely justify spending hundreds of millions of dollars to make a film. These companies have to get the attention of the "normies" as well...

Yeah, they totally blew the reveal. I was so disappointed. The suits were bad, but I could forgive them because they allowed the Joes to do all that cool shit we did with them when we were kids, but the way they botched Cobra Commander ruined the film for me.
This is just awesomeness overload! ^^ Really makes you wish a proper reboot could be made. One that actually stuck to the lore of G.I. Joe and what it stood for. While the movies aren't that bad, they never quite managed to capture the essence that is G.I. Joe. Much like how the Bay Transformers movies failed to capture the lore and essence of the actual Transformers series.

I agree, they did a really good job with Cobra Commander’s look in the second movie! That’s a big reason why I didn’t even acknowledge the one from the first movie in this video.
I saw the first one in theaters twice because it just so happened to come out around the same time Transformers 2 came out. While neither movie was a masterpiece, it was cool to be able to see both G.I. Joe and Transformers in theaters on the same day!
l That's also due to budget restraints and narrative. The first film was a little closer to the cartoon in that aspect. Also, more often than not, the original cartoon episodes would usually focus on a few characters for a story.
The real problem in the first movie is how they made Baroness be the poor hypnotized good girl and made the Cobra Commander her brother and some scientist of Destro when he is the founder of Cobra. I'm not really impressed with the portrayal of the bad guys in general in those movies (looks or personnalities). The second movie had all the Joes being killed (though it could look like Renegade) and the story was not too good. I honestly would have wished that they respected more the source of the material with the looks and personnalities so that we could say hey it's that vehicule or that character just by looking at them. Some were good but some...

I would honestly pick Nathan Jones (former WWE wrestler) as Nemesis Enforcer. He's not a great actor which doesn't matter since Nemesis Enforcer doesn't speak and the guy is huge so he would tower over the other people in the movie. As strange as it might seem, I would pick J.K. Simmons to be Golbulous. I figure he could play that really sinister megalomaniac character and he would be interesting to see as a half man half snake creature.
As far as stretching it out, I would make it a two part movie. Very much like the animated movie, I would make the discovery of Cobra La a sort of accident during an early battle in the film and lead up to Globulous’ master plan in the final act of the first film and leave it on a cliffhanger to lead into a second film.
The part with Cobra Commander flying away on the helicopter and saying "Cobra, Retreat! Retreat!". Perfect!

*ShinAkuma76* Who would you have play *Nemesis Enforcer* & Globulous, and would you stretch it to 3 or 4 Movies?
I would honestly pick Nathan Jones (former WWE wrestler) as Nemesis Enforcer. He's not a great actor which doesn't matter since Nemesis Enforcer doesn't speak and the guy is huge so he would tower over the other people in the movie. As strange as it might seem, I would pick J.K. Simmons to be Golbulous. I figure he could play that really sinister megalomaniac character and he would be interesting to see as a half man half snake creature.

As far as stretching it out, I would make it a two part movie. Very much like the animated movie, I would make the discovery of Cobra La a sort of accident during an early battle in the film and lead up to Globulous’ master plan in the final act of the first film and leave it on a cliffhanger to lead into a second film.
