as a military veteran I can honestly say that cartoons like this helped pave the way for me to want to be a military woman. Love the song, he will fight for freedom, GI Joe, the great American hero. All girls want a GI joe man and men want to be GI joe.Everyone needs a hero
Growing up in the 1980s was the best time of my life and this series is one of my favorite Hasbro cartoons since The Transformers. Thanks for letting my childhood memories unleashed. Great vid. YO, JOE!
Man, I was a child of the 80's and remember coming home from school to watch G.i.Joe, one of my favorite cartoons of all time. I'm sure it influenced me in becoming a veteran & Sailor of this great United States of America!!!
My dad grew up in the 80s watching this and He Man. G.I. Joe was the coolest thing I've ever watched in the mid 2000s and then he showed me this classic cartoon. I have now introduced my sister to them and she now loves the Joes.
In 1983, watching GI Joe was awesome as a child. In 20XX, watching GI Joe as an adult is 20 times for awesome because the artist, animators and writers were way ahead of their time.
Man, I remember when I was a kid I was such a fanatic of gi joe, my parents gave me a gi joe aircraft carrier playset for christmas, the uss flagg, me & my friends would play for hours on that toy. Until now, I still had that toy & I had no intention selling a part of my childhood memory.
I Hope When The Corona Virus Is Over, I Hope that Every Movie Theater and Drive In Movie Theater In Every State, Would Show This AWESOME Movie (GI Joe The Movie (Animated Movie) ), In Honor Of It's 33rd Anniversary.
James Scarborough in my opnion he had a better voice talent than Peter Cullen coz, MAN! that raspy voice is hard especially in their time there's not much tech in voice manipulation or enhancing.
That last intro with Zartan & the Dredknoks singing "Cobra" and battling on the Statue of Liberty, was actually the cartoon movie intro. And its one of the best animated intros ever!
+Ready4Whatever : What is really crazy is that GIJOE that debut in 1983 was far advanced snapshot of what would happen for REAL in the future. . "GIJOE is the code-name for America's daring highly trained special fighting force (interject Navy Seals, Delta Force) against Cobra a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world. If we want more cartoons like this to be made, we need to start buying the dvds. If they see that they can make buisness off of shows like this then they'll make more of them.
So many great toys and TV shows back in the 80s. Transformers, GI Joe, Knight Rider, Voltron, Robotech, The A-Team, Thunder Cats, He-Man & She-Ra, Marshall BraveStarr, Centurions, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, M.A.S.K., Robotech, SilverHawks to name a few. But The Transformers, GI Joe, and Knight Rider were my LIFE.
Same here I was born on the heel of the 90s I grew up watching movies like toy story and the lion king they simply don’t make them like this anymore and it’s sad nothing besides any marvel movie or transformers movie even comes close to being as action packed as this shit
When the movie was released the statue of liberty had just reopened after a major multiyear project to refurbish her, it was big news at the time and the opening scene was patterned on the reopening celebration.
G.I. Joe: The Movie had the absolute BEST intro. I remember it fondly as a kid. I also like the Intros with Flint as he was my favorite over Duke and Hawk.
I remember this, I remember waking up early before school and watching this, waking up on saturday and watching this, then it went off air. Thanks for the upload!
yeah, the cold war was great. Show lavish levels of overt patriotism at all times or be treated like a suspect, cause freedom. I could do without "incoming soviet nukes, get under your desks and close your eyes" school drills. Even at 8 years old we knew it was bullshit and that if nukes were coming, we were already dead. Nothing like growing up with that possibility always seeming to be just around the corner.
I mean, I’m 18 and I grew up with this despite it being around about 20 years before I started to exist. I loved these as a child and I love these now!
long time ago iuse to watch the gi joe movie i use to love to watch cobra commander them i found out hr was snake. in my child day i just felt cobra were just there bad guy name there teams. did not know it was snake
I'm not even American, but a Canadian... But I loved this show. GI Joe and the classic Star Trek taught me about courage, bravery, duty, determination, cooperation, friendship and loyalty. I'd wanna wave that flag too! And it stuck with me my whole life... I joined the Canadian military at 45...just took a long road to get here. And the USA always got looked down on by a lot of people in Canada. My dad taught me that was BS. The world would be a far worse place without the USA in it. My father wouldn't have escaped "repatriation" by Soviet forces if it wasn't for an American Sergeant. Duke is the king of the Joe's. 👑 💪🏻👍🏻 YO JOE! 🇺🇸🇨🇦
Kudos to Yves Rossy for making the jetpack a reality. (Also, thanks for the production company credits on this clip.) GIJ counts as science-fiction, and as we have seen in the last 30+ years, much in science-fiction writing has been brought to fruition. From gene cloning, DNA analysis, lasers, rail guns, recoverable rockets, on and on. As a foreigner, shows like these are what make US society a prime mover in the world. But that can also go the other way. GIJ was something special, at a set time everyday, not an endless loop of channels that cater to every whim regardless of time. There was time for work and there was time to have fun. Such were the 80s and 90s.
I was born in 1994 but I grew up watching this show. I remember I was 8 or 9 and I saw a VHS tape of this show at blockbuster and asked my ma to rent it for me. I was hooked ever since.
Toei animation studio did both. Same guys behind Dragon Ball Z & One Piece. Personally, TMS animation had the best body of work - bringing movie caliber production to shows like Bionic Six, Galaxy Rangers, and (my fav) Visionaries, in the 80s, then contributing to 90s shows like Batman TAS, Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, and Spider-man TAS
Trayxxxx no wraithbannon is right - I watched the new cartoons with new intros thinking wow this sucks - maybe its just because I've grown up, but then I went back and watched this and transformers - then I realized upon comparison - there is no comparison. todays crap really does suck.
4713Caine To me there are tons of cartoon that are just as good or better then the past ones. Transformers, Ninja Turtles to name a few old ones that have gotten better in time. And new shows like Wander Over Yonder, Regular Show and the new Mickey Mouse shorts. Plus being from the 80's I've watched my share and know there were just as much bad cartoon back the as there is now. Rude Dog and the Dweebs, Popeye and Son, freaking Rubik the Amazing Cube.
a show about a group of men and women of all races defending our nation without the effecting our country. wow the good old days. g.i. joe always won. why don't they shows like this anymore
ShellzFilms LLC. ..... probably because the United States is not fighting for Freedom anymore, too busy fighting for one certain country in the Middle East, too busy sticking its nose up everybody's ass instead of Defending its own borders from The Invasion down south!!!
it is a precious gem. Sadly military-themed shows like this have lost their innocence i recall in an interview they wanted to do them as a counter-terrorism theme with ARAH because Vietnam was still in peoples heads. And seeing victims of the Iraq War and every other Military Industrial motivated conflict in the last like two decades it would kind of be in "Bad taste"
Such a great intro, and such an amazing cartoon. Such an awesome passion and truth to the lyrics, too. I only wish we could be the America we used to be, as the song sings about. Still, it reminds us of the glory days, and gives us hope to be better than we are now. Yo, JOE!

Being a 38 years old woman , I still love G.I, Joe since I was very little I remember WWF Hall Of Famer Sgt. Slaughter was a part of G.I. Joe.
Same, Used to watch reruns of it back years ago when I was around 11-12 years old
He'd put us in a ditty bag... an itty, bitty ditty bag.
It's 2022 and the movie theme still gives me goosebumps
What a nerd
How about now

Yoooo, JOE!
Thank you for your service general. I may be only 13 but I have a great respect for men & women like you. What did you do in your time service?
I'd be lying if i didnt say i wanted to be a gi joe when i was younger. Now i am
But it’s out them where the Patriotism from Hasbro it needs G.I. Joe back.
Growing up in the 1980s was the best time of my life and this series is one of my favorite Hasbro cartoons since The Transformers. Thanks for letting my childhood memories unleashed. Great vid. YO, JOE!
A simple time, I actually grew up in the 2000s and even as late then there was no social media and the internet was a new thing
Man, I was a child of the 80's and remember coming home from school to watch G.i.Joe, one of my favorite cartoons of all time. I'm sure it influenced me in becoming a veteran & Sailor of this great United States of America!!!
Gi Joe, Transformers, He man, just classic one of a kind 80's cartoons
Same Producers too
And Voltron and Thundercats
As Seen on WGN-TV's Bozo Show
All being toys that came first, that caused the shows to be made as ads
For those growing up in the 80's, these cartoon make being a grown up look so awesome, you wanted to be an adult and live an adventure 😁😁😁😁
My dad grew up in the 80s watching this and He Man. G.I. Joe was the coolest thing I've ever watched in the mid 2000s and then he showed me this classic cartoon. I have now introduced my sister to them and she now loves the Joes.
words cannot express how happy this video makes me!
This version of GI Joe was telecasted somewhere around 2003 in India.
My Saturday morning show!
Awesome! Was it for the whole public or just American Embassy?@@hyperpaced6534

Is it still intact? Or are there parts missing and broken?
@@CK2012 It's still intact but the radio is broken. My friends & I abused the hell out of the radio, it drove my neighbors nuts. 😅
I never got the cool shit like that!!! I got the figures but not the Carrier.
I got the mobioe command center, played with it so much I _broke_ the door of it.
These intros alone were 100 times better than the live action movies.
silverclawedwolf ikr
WERE THEY EVER!
The only thing that comes close is any marvel movie
DAMN RIGHT
What live action movies (I never watched them and never will)
Most 80s cartoons had a diverse group of people of different races, ethnicities and cultures. The 80s cartoons are way ahead of their time.
Was there only 4-5 seasons of G.I. Joe?
+CJLAKE123 2 actually
I agree, I was a kid in the 80's and those cartoons were cool. Today kids will never experienced like we did back in 1980s
TheNewEmphinix YES!!!

i wasn't a kid in the 80's. i was born in 2000, but this and Johnny Quest was basically all i watched on DVDs, thank you for uploading :D
Cobra Commander was voiced by the late Chris Latta who also provided the vooice of G1 Transformers Starscream
I think most of us know that by now..lol! Kidding... I miss his voice... like... a lot.
It'd be nice if I didn't have to wait til' the end of the freakin video to hear his voice..
James Scarborough in my opnion he had a better voice talent than Peter Cullen coz, MAN! that raspy voice is hard especially in their time there's not much tech in voice manipulation or enhancing.
James Scarborough No wonder he sounded familiar!
James Scarborough I always wanted to know who did Starscream. Thank you!
When I was a young boy, I thought this was how the military really worked.

7 mins that just blew away all the new live action GI JOE movies combined.
+Ronald Joseph The first second of the first intro blew away the live-action movies.
True..very true.
Fuck I miss the 80's and 90's cartoons. Brings back memories.
