I have learned more in just a few days from these videos of yours than I ever have reading and listening to people (and that includes my Dad and Uncles) over the past 50 years.
One of the most applicable "How to" for my situation. I have two 5-acre ponds with 1 - 2 ft visibility that I fish from shore. Can't wait for the prespawn here in northern Illinois.
I'm in central Illinois and familiar with these small muddy ponds. I assume they are also weedy with mucky bottoms. I use Black & Blue almost exclusively all year around. The exception is in the heat of summer on public ponds that are getting slammed where I downsize to bright colored finesse presentations. I've caught some 3 pounders on 2" electric chicken grubs with the temps around 100.
Thank you for all your videos I'm in fort oglethorpe ga just south of Chattanooga and I'm new to fishing sad for a 46 year old man but your videos have helped me alot so keep up the great videos and GO DAWGS
Awesome video again Gene. I live in South Central Illinois not far from Coffeen Lake. Just watched a video of you fishing there. So all these videos I watch is Clearwater and as you know from fishing around here or my area there is no clear water here.
I fish in a small farm pond and one end is close to a field that is used for gardening and after heavy rains it becomes very stained to muddy and I have a hard time catching anything. Once it starts to clear up some, visibility is 5' at best. I've been using Okeechobee Craw Exostick or Junebug with a dipped tail in chartreuse. I strictly bank fish so I don't have very much access to certain areas of the pond
I love your channel! Love how you take time to row out on your kayak and just teach. You're not constantly plugging sponsors and selling us products. I fished a lot as a kid on the farm ponds I could walk to, I am just now getting back into it and have learned tons from your channel! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Gene! What about plain ol' "pearl"? I see almost every type of plastic has a pearl offering but have it debated locally as to when it's best chosen. Appreciate you!
What about glow? Do you ever use or recommend that for a bait color? I know that is kinda popular with the saltwater guys. And what about using a small glow stick rigged close to the bait for murky or muddy water? Thanks.
Quick question.. I'm looking into the NRS Pilot and Co-Pilot knife for my PDF. I'm worried about the size of the Pilot hanging over the pockets of my Chinook ,which are you using in this video?
Gene, this is a great vid for beginners, and a useful reminder for the experienced angler as well. Are you using the yak more than the boat these days?
Hey gene!! I live in TN about an hour from fall creek falls always wondered about the bass fishing there. How is it would you recommend trying it out? Thanks man.
lojo.fishing i hate clear water sometimes because i might be in the middle of the water and see schools and schools and schools of bass but won't get a nibble
Hi. Your video clips are really helpful. Thanks buddy. Can you (or anyone) tell me what ring is it that you're wearing on your finger? Just curious. Many thanks.
I have a few lakes that are about 20 ft of visibility and i was thinking about trying those absolutely clear strike king hardbaits. Do you thing that would work?
Hard baits especially put out tons of vibration, every wiggle and turn they displace water which sends waves of kinetic energy out, which are captured by the bass' lateral line. If you're really worried, try to find some with rattles.
I'm aware. I'm talking about color and if that would work over something else. Clear has nothing to do with their lateral line, I want to know about color.
Who is the president: green pumpkin What’s your name: green pumpkin What year is it: green pumpkin What color bait do you say over and over in this video: green pumpkin

makes me thankful to be living in the information age. the barrier to entry for fishing is so much lower!
Was not expecting to see armuchee in the description, I'm in Rome. Nice informative video, really helped

Can you please do a video on when to change out your line? How often to respool?? Thanks. 👍👍👍
Austin Malone he suggests every season for everything but braided line. Braided can last up to 3 years.
If your line feels rough after fishing, that is no longer silky smooth change it....if it starts to curley que. Change it.
Thanks for the video. Using your color advice for stained water, I was able to catch a personal best today! Loving the videos.
Can you do a video on finding time to fish. 😞😭😉
Just gotta make time my man!🎣🎣
Use the fish brain app it shows you what times are best for the lakes near you from other fishers experience
Best detailed and descriptive video I have seen yet it has helped a ton with me and my son we watch all of your videos thank you buddy!!
2018 = back to your teaching roots. Love it man. Thanks for all you do!

Awesome videos. I’ve been fishing for years but still learn things from you
You have definitely helped me get prepped for my first time freshwater fishing. Thanks
Good evergreen video gene. Questioning minds will be learning color selection for many years. I noticed Your video quality looks very crisp.

Good information brother! When should you add some chartreuse dip to plastics?
I’ve had great luck with red shad colored Zoom Trickworms, especially during the prespawn/spawn. My go to color for those. Nice vid
Who the F gives this man a thumbs down!?
LaRueOBR 5.56 Amen!
Always haters!
LaRueOBR 5.56 It was me
Ajdizzle4rizzle That's it!!! Your grounded. No supper.
Any tips on telling the water for a pond where you can’t exactly measure as you would on a lake

When flipping heavy cover in a CLEAR lake what color would yo recommend? Awesome videos Gene!
From what I learned in this video, stick with the clear water colors. If not go with some of the more stained colors.
I'd go with something stained maybe a natural with a clear flake
Something like natural green with a red fleck or green fleck
Thanks Gene! What about plain ol' "pearl"? I see almost every type of plastic has a pearl offering but have it debated locally as to when it's best chosen. Appreciate you!
Do you have a document that shows the colors that you would need for the different type of fishing conditions?
I really love tequlla sunrise they are my go to almost to using it exclusively this will help me try some new stuff
What about glow? Do you ever use or recommend that for a bait color? I know that is kinda popular with the saltwater guys. And what about using a small glow stick rigged close to the bait for murky or muddy water? Thanks.
Watermelon seed is good it actually looks a lot darker in the water and also is great in clear water conditions
Good breakdown of colors!
Quick question.. I'm looking into the NRS Pilot and Co-Pilot knife for my PDF. I'm worried about the size of the Pilot hanging over the pockets of my Chinook ,which are you using in this video?
Get the smaller one. The Pilot gets in the way.
DAMMIT GENE!!
Another great video 👍
Always a pleasure Gene
What brand of best are you wearing in this video? I need a new one for this year. What brand would you reccomend?
Gene, this is a great vid for beginners, and a useful reminder for the experienced angler as well. Are you using the yak more than the boat these days?
I try to use both but the boat has been in the shop for the past two weeks. I took it out this morning to break in the new parts on the motor.
Hey gene!! I live in TN about an hour from fall creek falls always wondered about the bass fishing there. How is it would you recommend trying it out? Thanks man.
Why is it that I've NEVER caught a bass on the "natural" colored worms ? Countless on other colors.
Gene,
Great rundown the #HawgZillas being able to see the bait makes all the difference as well as the being able to really get a good look at it.
Hey Gene, what water clarities would a plain white swim bait work in?
those clear bodies of water can be TOUGH
lojo.fishing i hate clear water sometimes because i might be in the middle of the water and see schools and schools and schools of bass but won't get a nibble
Yep
@@bassanglerxxx8444 that’s depressing isn’t it
I just go clear-green pumpkin.
Dirty-black and blue. For soft plastics.
Same, I'm not rich enough to be a gear head like some of these guys XD
Ya
That's pretty much what I do too
Im just a pumpmin worm kind of guy. Always works for me.
Dude you are awesome I was just wondering if you had a video on this
When do you use a white lure?
Does the weather make any difference with the colors?
Hi. Your video clips are really helpful. Thanks buddy. Can you (or anyone) tell me what ring is it that you're wearing on your finger? Just curious. Many thanks.
It looks like a wedding band...but also check out "Line Cutterz" because that ring is awesome!
yooslippp Line Cutterz!! That's what I wanted to know. Thanks for the tip!
When do you use white colored baits?
Great Video, very useful information!
When would you consider using Okeechobee craw??
This is great video great info thanks
When would you use flouro as opposed to braid?
Subscribed! This man knows his $hit 💯
Gene thanks again Man. Great Video!!!
Thanks for the awesome advice!
I know it's a bit off topic but I'm looking at getting a kayak to fish. What I'd like to hear feedback on brands from everybody with experience.
Great info! thank you sir, as always!!!
Good info. Well done!
You still use biospawn craws and plasma tails? How about the new exospin?
*exoswim
Great video
Great video!
Thanks for the info.. stay safe
Thank you Gene!
Do you have a video on chatterbait?
june bug is my go to

Yes it will. Clear hard baits are the only ones that I put a red treble hook on. Put it on the front hook hanger just to give them a target.
thank you
This was great! Thanks man!
thanks for the info!!!!
I live right beside there!
Go Dawgs!
What kind of vest is that?
What vest is that? Is it USCG approved also?
Do you have any sponsor codes? I'm about to buy one now because of you!!! =D
So to sum this up your saying use clear bait in clear water and darker colours in darker water
Good video.
Kinda counterintuitive that darker water=darker baits and clearer water=clearer baits but then again I'm not a fish...
Thanks
Go dawgs
Black and blue are the most visible
im a new sub sir
Do you use 13 fishing gear?
Yes I do
Flukemaster I am thinking of getting the fate black medium heavy fast action for top water fishing what are your thoughts?
What kind of topwater lures do you plan on using?
Flukemaster frogs poppers and spooks
