At my high school the one and only tuba player graduated this year and so the band teacher asked me, who played tuba for a single semester in middle school, to take over and I AM STRESSING. I know nothing about music! I’m not even in band class! Why did I agree??? Honestly if anyone has any tips please help a guy out I’ve got a three valve C-tuba
You forgot about the one tuba player that is never there, the tuba player that hates the tuba player that is never there, and just yelling TUUUUUUUUBAAA
As a double-bassist I strongly resonate with this. The solidarity of hiding your phone behind your plus sized instrument is something those weak trebles can never take away from us
Or like when carrying a sousaphone on your right shoulder and a piston pinches your inside skin of you arm (you know the thin skin part of your forearm), it’s hurst like hell
so accurate. I used to be a tuba player back in high school in marching band and this could not be more true haha! Especially the last song! My whole section kept playing that song all the time including me and our director used to get mad at us xD
My sister plays tuba, and she has this piece of music --I think from a winter concert-- that has been passed down from year to year. The first person who had it wrote all of the fingers in, and for each person who had it, they wrote little notes to mark different things, like tips and tricks. --Also, the music has only been passed to like three people including my sister, so don't think it's ancient or anything.
I’m in 6th grade and my teacher told me we had till Monday till our concert and then continued to tell us that me and my friends are the 5 tubas out of the 130 kids participating in the concert
We have 3 in our hounors and 5 in our region and we are literally so good that the conducter benchmarks us on new peices and if we do well enough on our first run we play on our phone for the rest of the peice period to the concert lmao
Jahiem Greene Euphonium has a smaller mouthpiece and Tuba has a bigger mouthpiece, obviously. Don’t use a Euph embouchure on a tuba or else you’ll get bad tone. For starting off, use more air than you think is needed (a lot). First work on spitting the correct notes in tune and then worry about form the correct tone.
That was me for 2 out of 3 years in marching band. Out of all the tubas. It felt good, but it really gave me a bad case of the "not like other girls" haha. I was section leader of all the guys my senior year. Felt good but I was scared to lead! CHS gang.
legit sense tubas or low brass don’t have the Medley the director tells us to play then again and again cause trumpets or clarinets mess up then start all over again. Like if you know what I mean.
As a tuba, The rest part and the going from the beginning got me!!! 😂😂😂😂 I honestly hate both of those but I deal with it cuz all tuba sections are lit.
I’m like oh first tuba isn’t here I can use his tuba ( it was mine) I can’t hit my tuba on my head I’m too short Oops there goes my part is correct Oh NEW music wait it’s an original copy have to wait for new music Oh trumpet switched to baritone and I have to teach him let me get a trumbone to help My life in band is great
As the only tuba player in my band, I can understand this.
Same

Same
I'm gonna be the only tuba, I switched because of the easy notes, and the low notes
I swear we always have a 10-4 rest in the beginning so thats why we never like playing the beginning
Be careful what you wish for is the most relatable thing ever
Sometimes I just speak through the mouthpiece and it becomes like a megaphone
Conductor: Okay, two bars free
Me: Tuba's free😏😏😏
I do that a lot too!
“Two before 10!”
“Tuba fore 10”😏😏😏
I've played this instrument for going on a decade. This is the MOST accurate tuba related content I've ever come across.
Hi first off I wanted to say you're adorable
And second, the part with the valves crushing your finger made me laugh so hard - I relate
Oh thanks :)
The start from the beginning thing is very true. Stop paying attention to the dam trumpets!
Litterally me in class writing something down and she went yo fast and i hit my head with the tuba it still hurts...
Ivika Paultre our others tuba player hit her head on her mouth peace coming up and got a concision
“27 rests” I felt that 😔✌🏽
As the only girl tuba player in my whole district ik all of these struggles
Then there's the whole climbing up/down steps in the stupid dangerously long and heavy black dress...
@@_chickenhead omg yes cause u feel like u bouta trip every 2 seconds
@@aeironapeterson9418 haha yeah it's scary
@@_chickenhead yah and I hate that they make us wear it
Chickenhead OMG I have a dress and one time I dropped with my tuba on stage at Districts. Glad I didn’t drop it.
I'll relate to all this and imma tuba player
I AGREE me and the other tuba just play on our phones the ENTIRE time
I was first chair and a tryhard so I stayed off my phone till the back end of senior year sorry Mr. Maloney
O M G. Especially when we get new music and we play the same note for like 20 measures.
and it's something you cant stand usually like an F (gross) when I'd rather hold a Bb or lower
@@_chickenhead Yes literally. Low Bb is god moves
I’m literally the only tuba in my school ;-;

I can relate to this and I’m not even a tuba in real life
The 'oh first tubas not here neither is second tuba' was very funny
A natural is the equivalent of flipping the conductor off so thats why thats my favorite note
Me in band (I play tuba)
i’m watching right before a concert
You forgot about the one tuba player that is never there, the tuba player that hates the tuba player that is never there, and just yelling TUUUUUUUUBAAA
If your low brass you most likely are gonna watch this😂😂😂
Any trombones 🤣🤣

I like the “I know like 3 scales” 😂 I can never get more then that memorized
its muscle memory at this point
Once I put my arm inside my tuba then looked my best friend dead in the eye and just said "G L O V E"
You missed "Oh FRICK I got spit on my LEG"
Being the only tuba player in my district. I'm still sad
As a tuba player i relate to this on such a personal level. P.S. great video! I kept laughing.
Tuba is great
This is an accurate description of the other tuba player in my freshman concert band.
why the hell is this so on point?
Bc I play tuba lololo
you right, you right
As a double-bassist I strongly resonate with this. The solidarity of hiding your phone behind your plus sized instrument is something those weak trebles can never take away from us
Agreed
The bass clarinet cue thing was hilarious
its so true tho
@@_chickenhead exactly, like what does the bass clarinet have that we don’t? Certainly not lower notes
9/10 didnt say anything about pedals
I relate. And I'm a euphonium player. 😂
Euphonium is a Tenor Tuba... so 'technically' speaking this video applies to you
I can play tuba and euphonium, I played euphonium in 6th and playing tuba right now in 7th

oddly enough ive never had that painful experience

Facts. Especially “27 rest?! 27 rest?! 27 rest?!”
I’m in 6th grade and my teacher told me we had till Monday till our concert and then continued to tell us that me and my friends are the 5 tubas out of the 130 kids participating in the concert
I'm the only female tuba player in the county so I relate
misread this as "country" like, guuurl where do you live?!
As a tuba player I just feel the watching the clock
Bro so true I can squeak out a note higher than my alto sax friend and then I ironically brag and he gets mad
When my band instructor told me I’m too loud
We have 3 in our hounors and 5 in our region and we are literally so good that the conducter benchmarks us on new peices and if we do well enough on our first run we play on our phone for the rest of the peice period to the concert lmao
It's funny, cause me and my section have done/said all of these
“Where’s the spit?”
“Oh there is it!”
Hate that SO much🤢🤢
It always just gathers in the mouthpiece. BLEGH
I’m getting my Tuba tomorrow I used to be a Euphonium I’m excited y’all have any tips on how to play good.

Its_Shxblvrbs ok thank for the advice I’ll try it out when I get it
Yeah, now imagine all of this...
...but in the heat of Florida.
One day my band directed pulled all the low brass to practice and I looked around and was like oh yea I am the only girl low brass btw I play tuba
That was me for 2 out of 3 years in marching band. Out of all the tubas. It felt good, but it really gave me a bad case of the "not like other girls" haha. I was section leader of all the guys my senior year. Felt good but I was scared to lead! CHS gang.
Bam bum bam bum bam bum bam bum bum bum
Band director:Play the high notes softer
Me: I can't play the high notes and play softer
Director:Then play the lower octive
Me:😏😏😏
Trey Goodeb am I the only one who can do it or is it a inside joak
Jok*e
Omg joke*
So much of that is true but I just about never miss my first note
I feel so called out 😂👌

legit sense tubas or low brass don’t have the Medley the director tells us to play then again and again cause trumpets or clarinets mess up then start all over again. Like if you know what I mean.
out of my whole school there is only 6 tubas
Bro how is this so true
You forgot “can I play 256th” notes
I can so relate I'm a tuba first chair lol I hate it when our teacher makes us buzz drives us all up a wall
There’s only 6 tuba players in the orchestra I’m in and I’m a tuba player so I’m scared
This is very accurate..
I can completely relate..
It's crazy how accurate almost all of this is.
