    Sometime you might want to paint a tool carrier to go in a baby area.They're just the right size to stock diapers, wipes and creams and plastic used diaper bags. Then you can go out to the yard or just move away from the changing table, especially if you need to climb stairs to get to it. Your colors are pretty for a baby, but they blend with the rest of the house too. Thanks for sharing your techniques.

    Do you have to seal the handles of the rolling pin in order to use and wash it? Will you Prime the rooster before painting it to avoid chipping?
    I bought some high bond primer from you guys, super excited to try it on some veneered bookshelves.
    I love how you guys just go at these projects! I’m better at just collecting things to paint over getting them painted....

    • @JamiRayVintage

      We seal the rolling pin handles with DIY clear wax. I’m not going to prime the chicken, the diy paint will stick to it pretty well. I would use high bond on shiny veneer though.

      Lol. I don’t always have an order set in mind. Sometimes when I’m feeling creative I just start painting and deal with things as they come. Not always the best method. No rhyme or reason to it really. Just picked up a brush and started.

    • @JamiRayVintage

      Sometimes. But usually not. I’ve had things that are valued in the 100’s of dollars as is and tried to sell them and no one is interested in the piece at that price and I end up hanging onto something for months. We tend to try to make our little bit and move on to the next piece.

    • @JamiRayVintage

      Nope. Just clean and paint. A little prep doesn’t hurt on really slick surfaces but it sticks really well to most things.

    Maybe you’ve already done this sometime, but I was thinking a not too detailed chicken like the one you painted white in this video might look cool with the small stencil words that are underneath the larger main words and say something like “ Fresh Eggs” it would have to be the right chicken tho... could be cute! Like it was once a sign or display...

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  5 років тому

      Just paint over. If it’s really slick (can see your reflection in the finish) we’ll scuff it up with some 220 grit sand paper to knock the shine off and then paint.

      We usually have follow up videos on the projects the following Monday. Also you can almost always see finished projects in the community tab here on UA-cam if we don’t do a full video on a piece. The live videos with the 🔴 in the title are typically show and tell what we found and Q and A type videos. Too much to get to and complete a project while still live. The paint doesn’t dry fast enough.

    I’m binge watching your shows! And, I have one of those magazine racks that you are spray painting. I have a question - some of the veneer is peeling off - so I’m concerned about painting it bc it will just keep peeling. Normally we’d use wood filler if it was “real wood” but with this top layer of veneer I’m guessing there’s no point using wood filler. What do you recommend? Really appreciate your guidance. Love your channel!

    The pitcher is lead glass...a lot made by Fostoria and if it’s marked usually blue sticker with name on it. I have 3 of those scales and they were a household staple in a 50s kitchen. Jamie I have one exactly like the one you have and have had it in my space for months priced at $15 bucks...I am so frustrated with the space I’m in I pay outrageous rent ...I’ve mentioned that before and just seems like nothing is moving!! Just wondering is all glass that’s white, milk glass? Or is there some defining marks to look for that makes it milk glass? My good will has a lot of white items like that, but I don’t know what I’m looking for in that realm. Thanks for answering❤️

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  6 років тому +1

      Milk glass has an opaque quality to it. It’s white but it almost looks like it could be a little see through? That’s the best way I can think of describing it.

      Good milk glass companies Fenton has a fancy “F” on the bottom and Westmorland has usually a “W” on it...not always easy to see. If you google “milk glass” you can see the different marks they use and that tells you how old they are.. just fyi😊

    How did you find your own DIY paint? I have great pieces should I rent a space for $100 per month at an antique mall here in Oregon. They give you a space for 100 a month and they keep 10% and you don't have to be there. Also what type of price tags do you price your items with darlin? I want my own little shop like you guys.

      I use titebond II. It’s super strong, water resistant. -Zeb

    I had an auction piece with the drawer in the wrong slot, my husband didn’t want to buy it because it was messed up. I had to whisper in his ear trust me. We got it a water fall 5 drawer chest for $10. We got it home and I put the drawers in the right slot and he laughed because we got the nicest piece of the night for practically free.

    How do I find barn sales or shows to sell my stuff at? I have gone to a few barn sales that rent space to vendors but I have never seen any that advertise/look for vendors.

      Best way is to look for sales or markets around you on social media. When I put a market on I advertise months in advance. If you can’t find who runs the market the vendors will know. 👍
      Hope that helps.
