      I waited to see a dermatologist for nearly a year only to be told that my hair loss is due to male pattern baldness. A year of waiting for her to look at me like an idiot and to deal with it. Disappointing waiting all that time and from what I hear from others, it seems almost all dermatologists get their education to just tell you that your genetics suck 👎🏼 after so much research, I’ve been taking collagen, biotin and saw palmetto and my hair shedding has completely stopped. I recently bought a dermaroller to combat my hair loss, and I was a little worried that maybe I had been bamboozled and caught up in some pseudo-science , but this makes me feel much better about my decision. Glad to hear it's rooted in real science, and I hope to get my hair back!
    Update (August 23, 2023): It's been around a year, and I have not regrown any hair. That being said, my hairline has also not further reclined, so this could be holding onto what I have. Some of my peach fuzz hairs on the balding areas look like they might be a little longer than they were before, but that might be wishful thinking.
    My current routine is I dermaroll my hair every two weeks, alternating between 1mm and 0.5mm. I've been super inconsistent about it, which may be affecting things. I'm also doing 10-20 minutes of scalp massage a day with an electric scalp massager. And I've been using retinol on my scalp for the last couple months to hopefully make my scalp skin healthier and easier to grow hair from. I will update again if there are any changes later.

      Im curious about microneedling for skin treatment as I read somewhere that the treatment causes cell division. While that renews the skin temporarily, the treatment simply divides the existing number off cells since they cant keep being divided in all eternity. I've been looking for clarification regarding this but haven't found it anywhere. Since you've only done it for a specific purpouse and not for de-aging you will be fine though.

    I began treatment the 1st week of September… been at it for 3 months next week. Topical - Minoxidil, dutasteride, tretinoin, snd ketoconazole, and I also take an oral capsule of Dutasteride and Minoxidil etc. When I began treatment I didn’t have any expectations other than to prevent (or slow down) hair loss. However, at only 3 months the hair loss at the forehead/temple area (I guess that’s what it’s called) is growing back. I’m seriously impressed… left side is growing better than the right side… however, I noticed a few days ago that the right side is just as thick, but it’s fine, light (vellus hairs), but they’re longer than what peach fuzz typically is. I can’t wait to see what the next 3 months is going to do!!! Still trying to have realistic expectations so I don’t get disappointed 😆 we’ll see what happens next.

    Thank you so much for the easy to understand information Dr Linkov. For me personally, I've found that a dermastamp is most effective, since a dermaroller would just pull out hairs from my scalp. I also use Dutasteride lotion or PRP immediately after my dermastamp session. I do this on a biweekly basis. Make sure to replace the needling device on a regular basis, since the needles will become dull after a while.

  • @knownunknown7607
    @knownunknown7607 Рік тому +24

    Just based on what I know about skin from tattooing, I can tell you with confidence that ALL the depths from 0.5 (or even 0.3) mm to about 1.8 or 2 mm are "the correct depth" - on different individuals. 2.5 would hit the hypodermis even on most very-thick-skinned people, so that seems rather extreme - but 2mm for like the arms and legs, and up to 1.2 to 1.5mm (depending on area)on the face and 1.1mm on the scalp seem about right for MAXIMUM depth. Less might still do the trick better or equally as good, but going deeper than that lands you firmly in the hypodermis - which is one of the main risk factors for "clean puncture scarring" (as opposed to "torn open punctures" like you might get from a wheel or just improper use). For reference: a tattoo NEEDS to go into the dermis to become permanent (if you go too shallow it falls out again, if you go too deep the ink spreads beyond where it's intended to go), and I think "tattooing depth" is roughly the correct depth for needling, too. Because the epidermis is mostly inconsequential since it's not doing much besides make more epidermis, and the hypodermis doesn't contain any hair follicles to stimulate. The one possibility I see that would topple this hypothesis, though, is that JUUUST barely going into the hypodermis would allow substances from there to pass to the dermis more easily, and help the follicles in said dermis grow better.

    Also guys, try using aloe Vera. Do know the this will take months. Just be patient and remember that your loved ones will be with you no matter if you have hair or non. And a 3 day detox. For me, it had been vitamin deficiency. I was eating too much junk food such as pizza, burgers, fries, Frappuccinos, etc. Your body also needs a healthy diet. I'm learning this the hard way. It's been 2 weeks since I've had bald spots on my beard and 3 small bald patches behind my head. It's growing really slow. I now drink a full glass of natural juice every other day. And remember, recovery will be long. Don't worry about it. Thank you Doctor for taking your time to make these videos. It really means a lot to all of us. 🙂

    Don’t think this was mentioned but the general advice is the shorter the needle, the more often you can do it, the longer the needle, the more time is needed to allow for full recovery of scalp between treatments. Though the exact amount of time that’s best is debatable, as an example, if using .5mm you could possibly do every week, .75 or 1 mm consider waiting 10- 14 days, etc.
