This was personally my fave from the start. A lot of people were gonna vote for a Sara Siipola, but when people saw this they decided Finland wants to have fun. We don’t care, no rules! 😂

Windows95man nailed their live performance, Siipola did not.
That's really what it came down to. Tons of people said they had a different favorite before the live performances, but their favorites just didn't bring it as hard as these guys.
@@ristoravela652 Yes! My favorite was first Sini Sabotage but she failed too on her performance when these guys just made me laugh! This has been growing on me more even since.

I was so excited about Sini's video of Kuori mua, but the live performance was a hot mess, poor lighting, horrible outfit, too much stuff taking away the focus from singing. Mania was great as a song too, but I didn't like the staging. Ended up dividing the votes between several of them in the "die is cast" spirit 🤷♀️ W95man had the best live, it's fun, catchy and weird 👌😄
This is the shame for Finland and all the real musicians in here. I hope it not going to finals. Our comperitors has been a big joke few years…

I am a Finn and I'm just super proud that we send a song which actually was at jumbo place on jury votes but crushed its way to victory through televoting! I have had a talk with several of my friends and they are just damn excited and agitated that we do not care about some big wig jury but the normal audience.

Windows95man is Teemu Keisteri's character he uses when performing as a DJ. He is a multitalented and well established artist, but cannot sing, so that is why he teamed up with the singer, Henri Piispanen for this entry. It is their first single together. Never was a favourite to win, but after people saw the live performance, everything changed.

And also the singer is his producer and did NOT want to sing in umk or esc! They just never got anyone to replace him before sending in the demo for the competition. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Windows95man is a superhero who is born "naked" from a denim egg. After refusing to be dictated to by others (that woman with the papers), our hero gets the magic pants and shines in doing things his own way.

Thank you for your reaction ❤ I was at the UMK final at Nokia Arena. I was sure that Sara would win, but then a man and an egg came and the rest is history. We laughed, we danced and we sang. This show really won everyone's hearts 🥰

This is his first own song, but he has done for years DJ gig with that character. And singer Henri Piispanen is singer and voice actor.
It's been a very polarizing song in Finland. Some people simply hate it and feel like it's an embarrassing joke. But similar things were said about Lordi back in the day...
Personally, I love the song for the nostalgic 90's trashy eurodance vibe and the entire core tenet of "no rules". It carries such a powerful message, and I hope it brings joy and confidence to anyone feeling like an outsider or searching for their place in the world.
And the performance itself is something that requires a lot of planning, skill, courage and dedication. Yes, it's funny. But making funny things well is hard work.
I was not planning to vote this but when I saw the live performance something happened in my brain in that moment. It was such a fun performance and made me laugh.And the song itself is very catchy, a banger like you said. Vocals are surprisingly good also.
As Finn this wasn't my favourite before UMK but their live show was so awesome that now I'm proud that'we're sending this to ESC. And this is banger, it has been in my head the whole day 😊

I actually liked the song before the live already 😅 the 90's eurodance vibe 🔥 also the live show was making people laugh out loud, which we all need in this world 💚 The actual artist Windows95 man is the guy that came from the egg in the beginning. He is a visual artist and has been a dj for a decade. This is his first own song. The vocalist is Henri Piispanen, a Finnish voice actor (for example in Paw patrol's Finnish dub). He was asked to sing the working vocals for the raw version, but they had no tiem to find the final vocalist, so he ended up going to UMK with W95 man 😂 and now apparently to ESC to perform for 200M people 🤣

As a Finn, I'm proud as hell that were sending W95m to Eurovision. Even if it ends up not doing well (personally, i think it'll be a top contender), better to go all in with this, than send another boring ballad.

This wasn't initially my favourite from UMK, but the live performance was brilliant, and I'm super happy this song won. I think your analysis was spot on. This is a 50:50 love or hate song, and yes, a little cheesy, but fully on purpose. Windows95man is a DJ and a visual artist, but his audience so far has been quite niche. Henri Piispanen, who is doing the vocals, is a voice actor and singer. And our song this year is a piece of art. ❤

In the stage performance the singer Henri represents the eagle (see the similarity of the movements and the clothing) and the Windows95man is born (as all humans) naked only wearing Kalevala inspired boots. The stage coordinator tries in the middle of the song give the rules to our hero but he puts the instructions flying in the air. He wants to be free and who he is despite what the others try him to be!"

As a finn, I did not know who to vote before live acts. I ended up vote this one since it was best live version. Windows95 man is not famous, just basic DJ and visual artist. The vocalist is Henri Piispanen, voice actor for kids programs. ( etc. Pawpatrol )
Finland has always embraced 90s EDM almost as much as metal/hard rock. The most popular radio program(s) in friday evenings prime time has for years now been 90s EDM. I guess EDM just as rock/metal brings out our true form, as we and our culture are so extremely cool, calm and subdued otherwise. As mostly quite genuine down to earth people many of us also embrace with irony the geeky/childlike side of ourselves with confidence. This self irony combined with relative safety and good social safety net offered by society/goverment, are probably big part what makes Finland the happiest country in the world.
"why light up your denim shorts?" is not the right question - "why not?" is.. that's the whole point.
As a Finn I love this. We need something grazy and fun and I love Eurovision when it gives us reason for party. Our guy won't win, but I'm sure that he will make huge amount of people to smile and that's important

Loved this the first time i heard it when it came out, and couldn't be happier they are going to ESC....and I am from Finland. The staging could change a lot what they will have in Malmö.

This kind of music is popular in Finland. In the summertime young people go to festivals and main thing is to drink a little bit and then they are bouncing up and down together in front of the stage. And we elderly, when we are watching ice hockey and there are brakes in the match they are playing bangers, in every brake, so it is like a cultural for us.
Windows95 man was hiding in the egg, its propably related Windows95 OS, Microsoft included their earliest products "hidden Easter eggs". So its a joke 😂😂😂
