Hi Guys, Vuraaa it's the nickname that was given to VW Golf 3 VR6. The car is still popular here in South Africa because of it's sound and it's sleek hence the song was inspired by the car. I really like what you doing in show casing SA talent to the world - keep up
The equivalent opposite to Cassper Nyovest's hit "Gusheshe" which is a #BMW 325 iS model usually pre '93. The meaning of the word 'GUSHESHE' means 'PANTY DROPPER' in English and the car is widely known for its cult status in S. Africa
Vura is South African slang/nickname of the VW MK3 VR6 vehicle seen on the video... The song is about the car. loosely translated to English, Brian's favourite line would go "Passenger seat is always occupied, I'm with a yellow bone" lol #Bigups to yall.
Vuyisile Genius jojozi its all bout street aesthetic. In the black townships theres only a few iconic cars around of esteemed status 1 vw caravelle, 2. Gusheshe bmw 325is bmw, and 3. Vr6 golf
I really like how you are exploring music from other countries 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 Where are my fellow South Africans ? 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦#Siyaphambili Btw they are rapping in Zulu
I'm from SA so no need to police on how I write. That's not how I would say it even if I was at home. Zulu or isiZulu/ Xhosa or isiXhosa you will still know what I'm saying. Ubufuna nje uphendula into engekhoyo.
That moment when your bored and you bump into something awesome... well this is one of them... like the ambition and vibe you guys have.. awesome work!
I love that black people world wide are pushing each other. Ricky Rick said that the internet is where the kids rule and this is true. Just to let you know the verses and hook are done in isiZulu with vernacular in some parts (which is a mix of languages or slang originating from the hood a black, colored, indian etc dude originates from. So theres many types of vernac through out the country.) Please do a Cassper Nyovest, AKA and Tumi video next please.
Salute to you guys too. Ima check out the rest of your videos too and im thinking me and my people should do something similar and review music from your side of the pond. Halla
Been watching some of the video reactions by these guys. Dope. I'm impressed at the critique and also non-disrespecting of our music and people. Most importantly - SA music is getting attention and love from abroad. Keep it up. Will definitely keep tabs here
Vura is a VW Golf VR 6 Its a very popular car after the VW Golf GTi, it popular among the youth in the South African Hoods. what the guy is saying is: "I'm riding my Vura, pigeons go kruhh - kruhh - kruhh" my passenger seat is always occupied, I'm riding with a yellow bone chick"
lol i watch alota reactions but yalls are by far my favorite. Most African music i've listened to is centered around what is being dished out from Nigeria and SA but because of yall i've branched out, exposing myself to knew music. good looking out. f.y.i to the hun who asked if they rapping in afrikaans, its actually zulu. Afrikaans funny enough is actually white, a mixture of German, Dutch and other colonial languages.
Yes. I love how you are venturing into African music in the same way we are venturing into more UK musicians. This is one of my bangers for 2016. Well done my South African artists for still hitting us with fire tracks
I love the speed of my fellow Mzansi (South African) peeps LOL the video's been up a day and already y'all beat a boy to the punch of translating. 😂 Anyway, The "Vura" is indeed the Volkswagen Golf 3 VR6. You can think of the "VR" as part of the inspiration to VuRa. The chorus loosely translates to: Rolling in my VR6 (Vura) The peeps go nuts When I'm rolling in my Vura [car drifting and skidding noises being the "krrru" and the "skrr" in between] Brian's favourite line: 'Passenger seat 'hlal'ioccupied Ng'pheth'umntwan'oYellow ["crème de la crème" in the background] means "The passenger seat stays occupied because I got myself a yellow bone" My pretty lady (sorry, I missed your name and would like to have it for the future) who thought Afrikaans was used - in this case you are incorrect but very technically speaking, even though it was used very sparingly in much older Kwaito music [our version of Hood Rap and Hip-Hop which for the greater part pioneered cool tunes like this and many more] Afrikaans was used. The language Sjava [pronounced Java like coffee with an 's' in front of it] and Saudi use most frequently in this tune is Zulu with tiny bits of English and Kasi [Hood] lingo. Side [but in hindsight, very long] Note [sorry for the long read LOL 🙈 ]: As you may or may not know, South Africa has 11 official languages: Zulu, Xhosa [the 'x' being like the sound one makes to emulate the click from a gun or a pen clicking], Sotho [pronounced "soo-too"], Pedi, Tswana, Venda,Tsonga, Swati, Ndebele, Afrikaans and English. In many of our Hop-Hop, Afro-Pop, House and other mainstream tunes, English, Zulu, Tswana and Xhosa are to the most frequently heard. Have a look at videos of all these language being spoken to better identify which might be used in a particular track you might be checking out next. Many of these languages sound similar to each other. The following info should help in identifying which languages you may be hearing: - Xhosa-Zulu-Swati-Ndebele - Sotho-Tswana-Pedi - Venda and Tsonga are not really similar to each other but are easily identifiable as neither sound much like any of the aforementioned languages. - Afrikaans being the daughter language of Dutch still has large traces of it in its words and sentence construction. - English should be the most easily heard but if not due to some performers who have an accent, just think towards what you think you are hearing because if the song is not in English, English might make an appearance some time along the way. I hope this helps. By the way, great channel to you guys of Ubunifu Space. Keep bringing the cool and fun content. 👍🏾
and its so amazing how you guys react the way you do to exactly the parts that get us going😂😂😂 it is a cruising song as well. you have to play it loud too. goes in
I love how you guys are so into the song.. Singing to the song. They are speaking zulu by the way guys.. But thank you for the love you're giving South African music. Beautiful
The guy on the second verse (Saudi) in his verse is sent (by a taxi/cab owner - the guy he takes money from) to deliver the money to another cab owner. Instead he takes the money and buys a VR6 (Vura). As you can see in the video he opens the envelope of the money.
This is my favourite reaction I've ever watched in The Ubunifu, y'all enjoyed this song and the music video. I don't know how many times I have watched it,
The guy on the far left's reaction when the lady walked towards the shop. lol i saw you!! hahhahahah "Passenger seat is always occupied, I'm with a yellow bone" Brains Fav Line
Howzit guys, I'm following you and I respect what you're doing for the music in general. It's interesting to see people from different parts of the world giving feedback on music from around the world. In case no one has commented on the meaning of the song, it is simply a song about a VW VR6, the same car you see them driving in the video. Vura is a legendary kasi (hood) ride here in South Africa. The other legendary rides are BMW 325, we call it gusheshe/gusha (check out Cassper Nyovest's Gusheshe, you can see the car there) also the V.W. Caravelle (We call it Caracara, K.O. has a song called Caracara). It's simply a kasi culture thing. By the way, the bridge goes: "Passenger se lihlale li occupied, ng'pheth' umtwana o yellow." Direct translation:"The passenger seat is always occupied, I've got a yellow babe" Meaning:' The passenger side is always occupied with a light skin girl." I hope this helps, let me know if you need any assistance regarding our music in South Africa. Peace!
hey guys thanks so much for reviewing our music SA stand up!!! The song Vura is a basically about paying homage to one of our legendary cars that we love the VW MK3 VR6. That's also what a Vura is, a slang term for VR6... I think you guys should do Nasty C review next... Either switched up or NDA. Thanks guys...
Big up guys for the incredible show....south Africa is loyal to the VW brand and its Golf generations.... from golf 1 to golf 7 ,all have thier nicknames and the song is about golf 3 VR6 nicknamed vura.......
Lols these guys i like the fact that even though you dont understand the words and shit, but atleast you hear the beat, the hook and you see the vidio is dope,so anyway Vura is a classic township car which used to be owned by well known gangsters in the oldern days and still is regarded as a gangsters ride.
Great project you guys are running here with the space, this is so genius it's something you only dream up while high (guess in my opinion), create a space where you share global music and have people from that region elaborate on the music and their experiences with the music and what it means to them, it would be to see more comments from people from other parts of the world sharing their reactions on the comments and how such a visual piece links to what's happening in their corner of the world. big ups guys! In other news, you guys are living with god in the flesh there, Derby in fact, Martin Atjazz Iveson, 20 years of soulful house, Nu jazz and broken beat incorporating a whole lot of other genres in his music, he's god on these shores, it was such a privilege to see him live during his SA tour last year.
It's not Afrikhan or whatever It's Zulu... and the bridge: Passenger seat k'hleli, Occupied Ng'pheth' umntwan' o Yellow Basically just means there is always a light skinned girl occupying the passenger seat. Vurra is a VR6 golf 3 Kroo kroo kroo is the notorious sound it makes😂
