I don't understand almost all of the tutorials because English is not my native language and a lot of people on UA-cam have weird accents, bad microphone, pauses in speech, etc., but your tutorials are the best quality and the most understandable I've seen about live2d. I didn't have to use subtitles, which is rare for me. Thank you for explaining it so well, without you I never would have understood this program💖
This tutorial helped me a lot! I have been working on my Vtube model for at least 2 months now, and I have always thought Live 2d was difficult to use, so that's why I have been working on the model for so long! Just looking at all the different tabs made me scared to try and work with it. But your tutorials have given me a better understanding of the program and now I can finally finish the model ^^!!!
I have been struggling so badly in understanding deformer hiearchy, and this finally, FINALLY made it click in my head. I'm hoping this will help me avoid the pesky "please create an object with the same parent deformer selected" dialogue box as well. Thank you so, so much for this!
I've been watching a lot of tutorials but this is the first one I've seen so far that I feel really sets up for success from the get go by starting with the largest deformers and working down. This organization is perfect for my working method.
Doing my part by not subscribing. Thanks for showing this step, getting all the deformers and rotos into place and in the proper order is a tad confusing at first and this really helped.
Im ngl, thank you so much for this, its been so difficult to find a tutorial that actually made sense to me and helped me actually learn how to use live 2d, and this wasnt just easy to follow but really easy to understand ❤
these are by far the best tutorials I've seen for making a vtuber, hands down. your explanations are simple and easy to understand, which seems pretty hard to find for something so complex. can't wait for the next part!
Thank you Josh! Comments like yours give me so much happiness. I know what's it's like to struggle to teach yourself these concepts, so I do my best to make it easy as possible. Sorry that these tutorials take so long to make, but I will hopefully have the next part out very soon! Thank you for your support!
@@MonisteraVT no need to apologize for the time they take! as long as what you produce is good, that's all that matters. it takes time to create quality content. keep it up! :)
@@MonisteraVT hey there again! quick question. I'm working on a full body model, and I'm a bit confused on where to put the rest of his pieces in the hierarchy/what types of deformers to use for the remaining pieces to get them to do what I want. how should I go about this? he's a bit complex, I'm kind of stumped. I can't seem to find anything that explains it well enough.

I'm glad I could help you face your fears of deformers!! They are guaranteed to make using Live2D easier once you get the hang of them. Thanks for the support, comments like these always make my day
THIS WAS SO HELPFULL! You are an amazing explainer! the other tutorials I've watched are long and wordy but you explain them so well!! TY! (next part when? :3)
thank you so much for this tutorial, I can't tell you how confused I was with the deformers, 10/10 the way you explain your process is so easy to follow and replicate. I love how you take time with each section, I had a question I have reactions/emotions such as anger, gloomy, and sweat , where would I nest in them the hierarchy or are they on their own?
I'm glad I could be a help to you! For emotions, it kinda depends on how you want them to look. But for myself, I just put them in their own folder with their own deformers.
Thank you! Unfortunately I am not a professional rigger, so I am still learning the software myself and it is changing faster than I can learn atm haha. But you can join the Live2D community discord if you want more specific help with rigging! discord.gg/live2d
hi thanks for this video it made me understand a little about the deformer hierarchy (but actually I still don't understand), but i have a question where should we start with the deformer? (example: eye part) or something?
IMO it’s best to start from biggest to smallest, so that things nest into each other! For example making the head first, then the things on the head (eyes, mouth, nose, etc) so that they move when the head moves. Makes things a bit easier
If you’re using the free version or demo version its possible that you might not have the feature, but you are still able to make each deformer manually, you just need to go into the deformer list to nest them afterwards
I noticed a vod cut @ 12:40 and then @ 12:54 the face deformer inside of the face rotation deformer appears for the first time out of no where. I'm so confused on this part.
Sorry for the confusion! I just dragged it in there and renamed it, but I think the folder structure collapsed when I did that, so it was hidden for a bit. After the cut, I had expanded it to show all the nested deformers
When I went to make the deformed, continuous creation is greyed out so I cant click it Maybe its because I'm using the free version but I can just do it manually
Glasses will probably need their own deformers, and be underneath the head/face deformers! To be honest, glasses are quite tricky to rig, but I'm sure you can do it!
Ideally you would separate the neck and body, or else your rigging movement will be pretty limited and it would be hard to rig natural looking head angles

How can I rig the hands for hand tracking?
Super late reply from me LOL but Sinuuki and
Opal Altalune - Vtuber have made video tutorials on this topic! i have never rigged hand tracking myself.
if i had glasses on my model where would i put them on the deformer list?
Glasses will probably need their own deformers, and be underneath the head/face deformers! To be honest, glasses are quite tricky to rig, but I'm sure you can do it!
@@MonisteraVT Thank you! I figured it out it doesn't look the best but its my first model so I guess its expected
Question,
What if my model doesn't have a separate neck and said neck is attached to the body
How would the order be then?
Ideally you would separate the neck and body, or else your rigging movement will be pretty limited and it would be hard to rig natural looking head angles
Thx so much lol❤
glad to help~
