Hey just curious how this is doing. Also the nitrogen fixer you mentioned, can you tell me a little more about that? I am in central Florida and looking for a good nitrogen fixing tree and haven't found many options.
+booneness Calliandra, Pidgeon Pea, Sun Hemp, Sesbania drummondii is a great nitro fixing species found on many roadsides, Partridge Pea is a native, Black Medic is a good native groundcover, as well as Sunshine Mimosa. As far as trees go, Guanacaste is a very large and excellent nitro fixer. Leucaena is known as the most useful nitro fixing tree in the world, but is classified invasive in our area. Hugelkulture actually ties up nitrogen in surrounding soils.
Good luck!

Tilling is not permaculture my friend. You could have sheet mulched to get rid of the grass. But whatever works for you.
