  • I love these moments.
There was a time when aerial filming was my profession-well, one of them.
Every time you’re preparing for takeoff, it’s like time slows down.
Especially when you’re at the controls-your mind is all cold calculation, while there’s a quiet thrill in your heart.
And then it comes-the lift-off, or ‘rotation’ in pilot terms. Or as some say, ‘getting the bird in the air.’
The plane races down the runway until the wings create enough lift to break free from the ground.
The runway quickly vanishes beneath the wheels, and there’s that moment-that instant when the landing gear wobbles slightly, hovering between reality and a dream.
A feeling of weightlessness washes over you, and the whole world, with all its concerns, stays behind below.
The ground recedes, growing smaller, and in that fading horizon, there’s something infinitely majestic. ‘The bird is up.’
Back then, I not only had to film but also edit the footage for the evening TV broadcast.
Now it’s pure enjoyment. There’s no rush. We’ve got 15 hours of flight to Singapore.
I even had time to create music for this quick little clip, «Takeoff from San Fran»
