Mark 7:14-23, Jesus is using a metaphorical language to explain that it is not what enters a person from the outside that defiles them, but rather what comes from within. The passage states, "Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?...What comes out of a person is what defiles him."

Seems to me that a good part of the hand washing before eating had to do with they had no toilet paper??
