Which A Cappella performance gives YOU chills just thinking about it? Let us know below, and check out our video of the Top 20 Best Pop Songs of the Century So Far - ua-cam.com/video/ysV_dqs2unI/v-deo.html
Y’all missed so MANY great songs and artists. Home Free, Voice Play, Voctave, Straight No Chaser. All of whom have far better songs than at least SOME of the songs you listed.
I am such a fan of Pentatonix. Seeing them perform live from the 2nd row in December 2022 was a moment! I especially love their rendition of "Sound of Silence."
Pick something either Home Free, Voiceplay, or Straight No Chaser. Plenty of those are better than some of your picks. Even PTX has better songs (Sound of Silence!) This list looks like it was put together by someone not really familiar with modern a Cappella.
I would’ve picked Hallelujah over Run To You for Pentatonix. It has over 735 Million views for a reason tbh! But I love that you used them for the cover photo (and thanks for using a recent pic btw!) I love that Teenage Dream made the list! That song totally changed aspects of the show, introducing the warblers and Blaine.
I'm bothered that there are so many actual Acapella groups that are amazing and not on this list. No VoicePlay, Home Free, Voctave, Straight No Chaser. They all have performances that should be on this list, for sure.
They are my favorite group, period. Their voices are fantastic, and their arrangements are gold. They can be hilariously funny, but can also move you to tears. They have recently done a version of "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" that just blows me away.
The other group I would throw in besides Pentatonix (because I also love them) is Voctave, some of their arrangements are actually insane, I love their version of Somewhere (West Side Story), it’s breathtaking
I was going to say that I would have put Home Free's Ring of Fire from The Sing Off in the mix. Some of what they chose was more the story line of a television show rather than the song itself. And I love their original music.
Straight No Chaser’s Oh Holy Night never fails to give me chills when I’ve seen it live. The literally strip out everything, not even using microphones. It’s pure musical artistry. I would also throw their version of I’m A Creep into the conversation. It makes the hair on my neck stand on end.
Though Run To You and Radioactive are good, these two don't show the FULL potential of what Pentatonix is able to do. Their arrangements becomes crazier nowadays and their newest Pure Imagination/ Christmas Time Is Here gives me the biggest chills ever. Talking about arrangements, I think Voiceplay's In The Hall Of Mountain King is what I consider the TOP of this list. The way they push every singer's vocal range limit is crazy (Geoff hitting that C#1 still gives me chills everytime). Please gooooooo check out Voiceplay ;-;
You guys need to do anew best Pentatonix Performances list becuase goddamn they are amazing nd also like they are the first ever acapella group to get a Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
Was blessed to have seen Ladysmith Black Mambazo, lead by vocal legend Joseph Shabalala [may he rest in power] at the fabled Caravan of Dreams in Fort Worth. Their performance was goosebumps and chills from start to finish.
I saw Paul Simon's Graceland Tour with Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Miriam Makeba, not at Hyde Park but at Pine Knob in Michigan. I can confirm that they sang this acapella and it did give us chills.
Have you listened to any of Home Free’s music? How Great Thou Art, Brothers in Arms, Helplessly Hoping, Man of Constant Sorrow, Go Rest High On that Mountain, Mayday and many more…all chill makers. They are a fantastic group like Pentatonix. You need to check them out!
if you'r going to mention the other cappella groups that are amazing too like home free s amazing graces or man of constant sorrow are great and don't for get voice play there mr Oogie Boogie or valhalla calling or Weller man
Too bad you missed Home Free. Only country acapella group. And not only do they do great covers, they also perform their own original songs. As for chills, check out their performance of Ring Of Fire on The Sing Off.
Love Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Pentatonix. LBM has always been one of my favorites groups, and Run to You is still one of my favorite Pentatonix songs.
No Backstreet Boys? They have so many a cappella performances. They also have an a cappella song on an album called Breath. It’s hauntingly beautiful. Listen to it and then make a part 2 list.
Pentatonix version of The Prayer is simply perfect. Ringmasters (World champion Barbershop Quartet) doing the Hunchback Of Notredame Medley will knock your socks off.
Here’s a challenge for you: Pick the Top Ten Pentatonix songs. And good luck, because there are way more than 10 truly extraordinary examples. Good start with Run To You, though. Now listen to something current. Peace …
the fact that PTX either sounds of silence or hallelujah was not on the top of this list negates this list of being top 10 a cappella that gives us chills. you had some great ones I didn't know about, but there is none better than those two covers from PTX.
Here’s a great one from back in 1998. An album called “Cry Cry Cry” by 3 super talented folk artists: Richard Shindell, Lucy Kaplansky, and Dar Williams. A beautifully haunting A Capella track is “Northern Cross”.
I like Beyonce, but that shouldn't be a part of this video. Maybe, best national anthems. It kinda feels cheap in this. Y'all are the experts, but there are plenty of viral acapella you could have used to take it's place. Considering you also put in glee, and how I met your mother as well. Felt too much all over the place. But I will keep watching. Love y'all.
To narrow Ptx’s catalog to just one song is crazy. Run to you is a beautiful original but there’s no way to pick just one song. And to all the people complaining about home free, voiceplay and Vocatve being left off, you need to realize they’re not household names. There’s still a ton of people who don’t even know who Pentatonix are and they’re mainstream and huge in comparison to those groups. That’s the problem with a cappella never getting radio play. People never get to know these talented groups unless they’ve somehow been exposed to them.
Before there was Lincoln Bridge, there were The Persuasions. Their track "Looking for an Echo" on Spike Lee's Do It A Cappella definitely deserves mention here.
Thank you for the update, MsMojo..!! The best acapella performance that gave me the chills was 'HOW TO SING The Longest Time by Billy Joel' that can be found on UA-cam. He should post the full song though.. :(
Pentatonix Halleluiah #1 in my book. Chills from note one. Can name others, of course, but thats my favorite. Not impressed with your list. Not very good. If you do a Christmas one you must include PTX "Mary did you know?".
Not widely known, but the Boston U. Dear Abbeys' cover of "Baba O' Riley" is, in my mind, the single greatest a cappella production/performance I've ever heard. It's not *haunting*, but it will blow you away nonetheless.

Aha!!! love this one so much.
Pentatonix as Sushi Roll on The Masked Singer and their rendition of "Creep"!
Sorry, Pentatonix/Sushi Roll was not a capella. Let me correct myself - Pentatonix' Sing-Off performance of Let's Get It On!
Y’all missed so MANY great songs and artists. Home Free, Voice Play, Voctave, Straight No Chaser. All of whom have far better songs than at least SOME of the songs you listed.
Prelude, After the Goldrush.
I am such a fan of Pentatonix. Seeing them perform live from the 2nd row in December 2022 was a moment! I especially love their rendition of "Sound of Silence."
I agree live is so good and so fun. Can't wait for my next Pentatonix concert. ❤
@@melanie00005 YES!
Run To You is amazing. Their covers are awesome, but Run To You is an ORIGINAL. It deserves recognition. Love Pentatonix
Pentatonix - Mary did you know and amazing grace are my top favourite songs from them also their version of god rest ye merry gentleman is a stand out
Pentatonix's "Run to you", "Ligth in the hallway" and "Evergreen" are a few of my favorites!!!
Also, can't forget their cover of "Hallelujah", too!
Pick something either Home Free, Voiceplay, or Straight No Chaser. Plenty of those are better than some of your picks. Even PTX has better songs (Sound of Silence!) This list looks like it was put together by someone not really familiar with modern a Cappella.
Check out Citizen Queen.
…or historic a capella…
Voctave too!
for real! Like Home Free's cover of "Ring of Fire"!!
I would’ve picked Hallelujah over Run To You for Pentatonix. It has over 735 Million views for a reason tbh! But I love that you used them for the cover photo (and thanks for using a recent pic btw!)
I love that Teenage Dream made the list!
Straight, No Chaser is one of my favorites. Love their "12 Days of Christmas" great harmonies combined with humor!
I agree!! They are AMAZING!!! (And so fun in concert!!)
PTX’s O’ Holy Night (the newest one that came out in December) was absolutely stunning. It has left many reactors speechless.
If we’re talking Pentatonix… their bass, Avi Kaplan, wrote I’ll
Run to You. He is BEYOND talented.
and Kevin
Not just Avi. Kevin wrote it too. And the song is just called Run to You
PTX HALLELUJAH, Still gives me chills!
Excuse me? You talk about Pentatonix and not bring up "Sound of Silence"????? Please.
Hallelujah and The Prayer are also masterpieces.
Agreed!
Just about ANY song of theirs is superior to "Run to You" in terms of harmonies. That was a weird choice for sure.
To be fair u could do a whole list of just Pentatonix 😭
My fav: “Mary, Did You Know?”
Home free- Man of constant Sorrow. Would have been nice to see it on this list. 😃
These were good choices, but I would have add the groups: The Nylons, Voice Play, Home Free
There are tons of songs from HomeFree that they missed.
I usually agree w/ their lists, but I'm sorry ignoring Home Free is not acceptable.
I was going to say that I would have put Home Free's Ring of Fire from The Sing Off in the mix. Some of what they chose was more the story line of a television show rather than the song itself. And I love their original music.
Voiceplay needs some recognition too
💯
Hard to pick a favourite Pentatonix cover, but 'Mad World' is top three.
I would have to respectfully protest you leaving off the Grammy award winning Daft Punk by Pentatonix!!
The Sing Off - Home Free - Ring of Fire. When they hit that bass note at the end, you want to cheer... a lot!
The Nylons have always been one of my favorite Canadian Groups. "Please" is heart breaking
Straight No Chaser’s Oh Holy Night never fails to give me chills when I’ve seen it live. The literally strip out everything, not even using microphones. It’s pure musical artistry. I would also throw their version of I’m A Creep into the conversation. It makes the hair on my neck stand on end.

The way they push every singer's vocal range limit is crazy (Geoff hitting that C#1 still gives me chills everytime). Please gooooooo check out Voiceplay ;-;
No Voctave?? Damn the Disney Love Songs and Disney Princess Medleys are just *chef's kiss*
Right?! Prince of Egypt or Great Movie Medley!
You guys need to do anew best Pentatonix Performances list becuase goddamn they are amazing nd also like they are the first ever acapella group to get a Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
Love all the artists featured. But as a South African, I'm particularly proud of where Ladysmith Black Mambaso placed (both times)!!😊
VoicePlay's version of "I Can't Make You Love Me" gives me chills and hits me in the feels.
you’re definitely missing the Manhattan Transfer with their fantastic harmonies - for example “a nightingale sang in berkeley square”..
There are some very good accapella groups on You Tube. For me, beside Pentatonix, my favourite are VoicePlay and Peter Hollens
Straight no Chaser was way before any of these glee pitch perfect pentatonix groups. Show some respect, please, Ms Mojo!! 🤔
You need to check them out!
remember: the star spangled banner is set to a DRINKING SONG. it is literally so easy a drunk can sing it.
What gave me chills is the Bellas singing "Flashlight" from Pitch Perfect 2
What?! No Rockapella? Doo wop boo boo eh oo wop bow...Where in the world is Carmen San Diego?
if you'r going to mention the other cappella groups that are amazing too like home free s amazing graces or man of constant sorrow are great and don't for get voice play there mr Oogie Boogie or valhalla calling or Weller man
Good choice choosing PTX as the cover photo :) Thats what made me click!
meeee tooooo😂
It's absolutely criminal that Don't Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin isn't on this list. It should have been #1!!!!!!
VoicePlay is my absolute favourite acappella group!!
Ms. Mojo can you do a Top 10 Best Pentatonix Songs List Please!🙏🙏🙏🥺🥺🥺
Wow you guys need to listen to Home Free, Voiceplay and Vocative!! Y'all don't know what you're missing.
The Pentatonix cover of Hallelujah still gives me chills to this day!!!
Pentatonix's End of the Road cover gave me shivers!
How Will I Know is the best A Capella performance on Glee 😌
Please allow me to add WHERE THE ACTUAL * is Home Free??? #homefree got robbed!
Too bad you missed Home Free. Only country acapella group. And not only do they do great covers, they also perform their own original songs.
As for chills, check out their performance of Ring Of Fire on The Sing Off.
I am soooo glad you included the HIMYM clip. Every time I hear that song I think about this scene and how underrated it is. They killed it!!!!
Love Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Pentatonix. LBM has always been one of my favorites groups, and Run to You is still one of my favorite Pentatonix songs.
How can you get through that without Home Free. They’re phenomenal. Especially their Ring of Fire or Elvira covers
Voctave should be on here!
Tori Amos “Me and a gun”, Alanis Morissette “Your House”
No Backstreet Boys? They have so many a cappella performances. They also have an a cappella song on an album called Breath. It’s hauntingly beautiful. Listen to it and then make a part 2 list.
Pentatonix version of The Prayer is simply perfect.
Ringmasters (World champion Barbershop Quartet) doing the Hunchback Of Notredame Medley will knock your socks off.
Of course, "The lion sleeps tonight". Have a happy monday night, Rebecca. Take care and God bless you, greetings from Colombia to you as well.
Here’s a challenge for you: Pick the Top Ten Pentatonix songs. And good luck, because there are way more than 10 truly extraordinary examples. Good start with Run To You, though. Now listen to something current. Peace …
Voiceplay should have gotten a mention at the very least.
the fact that PTX either sounds of silence or hallelujah was not on the top of this list negates this list of being top 10 a cappella that gives us chills. you had some great ones I didn't know about, but there is none better than those two covers from PTX.
Major respect to MsMojo for their Solomon Linda footnote.
Can we ALL just agree that Darren Criss is just DREAMY!
Felt too much all over the place. But I will keep watching. Love y'all.
Number one of all time is the Manhattan Transfer's version of A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square. Hands down.
🌟PENTATONIX 🌟
To narrow Ptx’s catalog to just one song is crazy. Run to you is a beautiful original but there’s no way to pick just one song. And to all the people complaining about home free, voiceplay and Vocatve being left off, you need to realize they’re not household names. People never get to know these talented groups unless they’ve somehow been exposed to them.
Home Free is better than most of this list
Before there was Lincoln Bridge, there were The Persuasions. Their track "Looking for an Echo" on Spike Lee's Do It A Cappella definitely deserves mention here.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo has been my go to driving music for decades. their music is incredible
VoicePlay
Home Free !!! Hands down way better than PTX
Definitely missed out not including the Nylons, Home Free, The Blenders, Rockapella, VoicePlay, Voctave, or Straight No Chaser.
Citizen Queen "Killing Me Softly" and / or "Never Enough."
AMAZING Cover by CQ 💯
Prelude's "After the Gold Rush" is quite nice.
I thought a capella meant voice only, without accompaniment.
The only singer to ever sing acappella on American Idol!
Thank you for the update, MsMojo..!! The best acapella performance that gave me the chills was 'HOW TO SING The Longest Time by Billy Joel' that can be found on UA-cam. He should post the full song though.. :(
yes, PTX!!
also, Avi Kaplan (former bass of PTX) can do a whistle tone to "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" while HUMMING at the same time!
'Choir of Men' is my favorite.
A Nightingale Sang in Barkley Square by Manhattan Transfer…
The Flying Pickets🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hey Miss Mojo, have you not yet seen Voctave?😁
Voctave give me goosebumps every time!
Pentatonix Halleluiah #1 in my book. Chills from note one. Can name others, of course, but thats my favorite. Not impressed with your list. Not very good. If you do a Christmas one you must include PTX "Mary did you know?".
PTX is head and shoulders above everyone else from every decade.
Totally AGREE 💯💯💯💯
Whitney Houston's version of the Star Spangled Banner hands down greatest rendition ever performed.
The Real Group withe Anders Enderoth. Magnificent
Welsh of the West End deserved a spot here
Star spangled banner by PTX is way better than Beyoncé’s. Actually they are so good every song on this countdown should be one of theirs
Not widely known, but the Boston U. Dear Abbeys' cover of "Baba O' Riley" is, in my mind, the single greatest a cappella production/performance I've ever heard. It's not *haunting*, but it will blow you away nonetheless.
I'm a fan of the group Persuasions love their song "Looking for an Echo" and of course anything by Home Free.
A group (sadly not together anylonger) DaVinci's Notebook (great A Cappella and also hilarious)
Have a listen to Charlie Zhou Shen singing a cappella. He has the voice of an angel. Guaranteed to make the hair on your arms stand on end.
Home Free!
No love for OG group Rockapella? Tsk. ;)
Was expecting more actual A Cappella groups.... Not Beyonce. Or from movies/Shows. Where is Voiceplay!!!
What about the Eagles Seven Bridges
What! - The Beach Boys - Our Prayer (just does not get any better than that. Steeleye Span - Somewhere along the road. Steeley Span - Guadete.
Although it still sounds amazing, film and tv (unless live) shouldn't really count for this list imho because it's heavily produced.
Can you do top 5 and play more of the music n less talking
Liked it
