Let's be honest, one thing we all love in Castlevania, besides the music, are Ayami Kojima's illustrations. Her style has become sinonym with the franchise as a whole
The original Dracula from Bram Stoker's novel didn't burn in sunlight. He just couldn't use his powers while under the sun. Just a little fact I wanted to share :)
@glitter I suppose the adaptational wimpification of Dracula in the movies that castlevania was based on led to Konami deciding he wasn't threatening enough, so they gave him fireballs and demonic transformations. Then IGA worked his gothic horror Metroidvania magic on him, and the rest is history.
SOTN, in my opinion, was the peak of excellence in the franchise. All the side view hack-n-slash you could want, plus rpg elements thrown in, with an awesome soundtrack and superb visuals! It's one of those rare games you can play over and over and love it more each time you get 200% complete!
@@rikustorm13 tbh dawn is better than aria and I personally think sotn is better than both just due to the insane amount of movement and attack options Alucard has (soma gets a ton but not quite as much as Alucard imo)
I love how this track played during Richter's beginning stage if you play as Richter in the Saturn version. So much better and just feels so hype playing as Richter since he is the coolest Belmont (:
It is in the Extra Bossfight of the Sega Saturn version. Right at the start is a platform that can be opened in the Saturn Version. Underneath lies one of the 2 new areas where a Boss is (Skeleton King or so as far as I remember). While fighting the Boss plays this theme
This is exclusive to the Sega Saturn version and is played in the Underground Garden I believe. So I'm a bit pissed off to discover this song ONLY plays in the Sega Saturn version >:|
jupiterofthemonkey I hope you kept with it anyway! Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow are two of my favorites in the series (Aria is the first one I beat), so I would also recommend playing those as well. Those two and Rondo of Blood are probably my favorites in the series, followed pretty equally by Super Castlevania IV, the original Castlevania, and Bloodlines!

@blind51de if anything, this is simon's theme, since it appeared in simons quest first. since this is the sotn version and the main character is alucard, it makes sense
The Rock meets Dracula and asks him a question: The Rock: "Hey, Drakie... What is a man?" Dracula: "Nothing but a pile of-" The Rock: "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT A MAN IS!" =))
Alucard is the best character design ever made. That's for sure. Also, I didn't hate when they use remixes, it's a good way of paying tribute to the older games, and, you have to admit: Michiru Yamane is a genious
For those who are asking in which part of SOTN the song plays, here is the link (For Saturn version only though) ua-cam.com/video/RY1AAwfwGPE/v-deo.html at the 7:30 mark.
Since it seems like its not possible to answer Bourassa's comment, so discussion about it won't appear (I presume), I will just answer in an own comment. The LoS-Spinoff of Castlevania lacks the deep philosophical reasoning and dark, yet styleridden Feeling the series has, up until Soma. Its kind of obvious, that its mainly a marketing move to give the series more appeal to modern audiences, by focusing on a certain popular series, where a gory Barbarian dismembers various creatures and people/gods, by hardly any believable reasoning but bloodthirst and "rule of the strongest". That being said, I believe Lord of Shadows killed the Series. Anyways. Great Song, you can never get enough of Bloody Tears, as its the "Vampire Slayer"-Counterpart of the melodic identity Castlevania has or had. :) Sorry for answering Bourassa, allthough it was obviously disabled, but I hope everything here stays constructive. (And Im not in favour of censoring opinion)
So that's how Lords of Shadow ruined Castlevania. Another thing I noticed about the game is the music, the music is no longer Gothic metal or classical. Thanks for answering my question, without your comment I wouldn't have known. Thank you :)
Dylan Bourassa LOL, don't pay attention to that guy (I'm glad he is open to opinion, thou), but he obviously didn't play the game, or was so desperate to blame it for whatever reasons that he not even cared to put attenton to it. LoS is a fantastic castlevania game. It has much more deeper story than most of the previous Castlevania games..... actually it GIVES THE STORY that starts all the Dracula and Bemont's saga (there are not deep stories on previous games, only the 'I'm a Belmont, I will kill Dracula, you evil!!' one. Don't get me wrong, I love them, I'm just being objective). Something that made me laugh so hard was the "philosohpical reasoning and dark"..what philoshopy was he refereing to, exactly?. Philoshopical speaking, Lords of Shadow beats all previous games easily. It is also much, MUCH darker. I'm not sure what do you mean by "Classical music", there was never "Classic" music on the games. Anyway its no longer metalish, I agree with that (and I miss it too), but the orchestral tune suits much better the Los atmoshpere IMHO (and actuallyl, it could be considered more Classy, even if its not classic niether). Finally, and returning to Xaneorath's statement, I can tell how biased his opinion towards Los is when comparing it to God of War, only 'cause they are both hack n slashers with a fixed camera....thats it, thats literally all similitude they have, one more prove he didn't played LoS (or even GoW..or none!!) and constructed his opinion wihtout fundament. Any person that has actually played them can tell there is a lot of difference in gamestyle AND STORY, I agree Kratos is just a pissed-off barbarian, but Gabriel is so much deeper than that. Remember, in the end, the best way to have an opinion is to make one yourself, not copy-pasting other thoughts, I suggest you to go and play LoS so you can say who is right and wrong in this topic =P. Have a nice day all!.
Thats orchestral music, dude, not Classical...but anyway, if you say that is classical, how can you say there is no "classical" music in LoS?? ITS FULL OF IT! lol =P Just to point it out, Moonlight Sonata is actually Classical, but for other reasons
@WayoftheDrist Not arguing with him at all :) Not saying that I don't like the Walk-N-Whip style, actually I love the whole series of Castlevania! My best memories though are from Castlevania IV (with Simon) and SOTN (Alucard style), since those were the games I mostly played when I was young, and grew up with. The reason I think I like SOTN the most though is the RPG feeling over it with levels, stats and equipment. I'm a big RPG-fan too so the combination just smelted my heart :P
@kbforme The thing I like most about castlevania is that is had stunning visuals, despite (because of?) its low graphical capacity.
