Crazy that video games have some really sweet music in them. I still remember the Atari and it's "idea" of music. Castlevania and Metroid have the best ambient background music from the 90s and revolutionized not only a genre but also the music in a video game.
Yamane Michiru is literally a musical genius. Truly beyond her time. I am sure if she wasn't making video game music. She would have big as legendary composers. She is a legend to me though. Always will be. Literally would stop in the middle of the game and let the music loop.
I love the anachronism. Not concerned with whether or not the breakbeat mesh well with the setting, but rather prioritizing the atmosphere and the music as its own art.
The beat sounds like it's coming from a distance, resonating through a great space. Like maybe a cavern. Same thing the Blade Runner soundtracks employ.
This game had an absolute MAGICAL ost. This song has that certain thing about it that makes you come back from time to time just to vibe out and reminisce about moments in your past.
Usualmente escucho este soundtrack cada que camino por la madrugada, y no hay ya mucha gente alrededor. Me llena de calma y de serenidad, eso es lo que en lo personal me transmite. Gracias por tu ingenioso talento, Michiru Yamane.
1:23 is the SINGLE HARDEST drop in a video game BGM EVER. I remember when i played as a kid i literally just stopped playing the game briefly game to jam to it. And its STILL a banger.....
This song always reminded me of the movie Labyrinth. It's so dark and yet, romantic. Michiru Yamane is up there as one of the all-time greats, along with Yuzo Koshiro. Appropriately, this game is among the greatest ever made.
Just started playing thru this game again after like 8 years or so, and I can't believe I never noticed how amazing this theme was back then :O it really captures the atmosphere of the area :)
Coppolas Bram Stoker Dracula movie was a massive inspirer. I have backwards knoweldge of pop culture vampires, i now realized after years that this is referencing literal crystal teardrops from the movie. Gothic horror is really cool.
One of my favorite songs in this game! This song is so calming and soothing. PS1 games really had some great soundtracks ugh. Better than the songs in modern games. I wish I could go back to these days in life when everything was better😔😪
The dislikes are Dracula, Shaft, a medusa head, and I guess a random skeleton~ (This song is really good though~) Edit: Add 1 merman, 1 frog, and a bunch more medusa heads that have been lost in the castle after an annoyed Alucard slayed them.
@@fenrirth2832 Because Dracula has a preference for his own theme, Dance of Illusions, but he loved it so much, he started disliking every other sotn ost video that was not his own theme XD (I'm just joking~ But you might be right, why would he dislike the video?)
Just discovered the Castlevania series through the anime (read 2021). I remember as a youngster that I read about this game in some video game Magazine and that it got good reviews so I thought 2021 why not try it out? Hehe, that was a rabbit hole. This particular song was one of my favourites, perhaps my favourite. The bass was amazing in the start of the song as well as the organ in the end with the eeerie choir. What an atmosphere it created! Ps. The jazz piano is also amazing so the unofficial name for me is: Lounge at Draculas castle
when i first played this game, some months ago, the momonte i got to the underground caverns, and the piano began i got overflowed by nostalgia, because my grandfather used to put songs in that style of the piano.
I'm in the point in my life where I realize all humans are the same vying to be different, However when music this good plays we all find comforting peace from nostalgic masterpieces like this.
Here's a question that's been bugging me for years: are there any noticeable differences between the PS1 and Saturn versions of this track? "Dracula's Castle," Strange Bloodlines," and other tunes have extra bridges and other variables pretty much anyone can detect. This tune, on the other hand...
Say, Elias...could you send an email (after backing up this video to someplace safe, first) to Yamane-sensei and ask her why she didn't include that bridge in her later performances of this track? It's sad to find that such a masterpiece comes up slightly short elsewhere BUT here.
Totally my friend, really good game my first play fue cuando tenía 17 años en un emulador de PC lo volví a jugar a los 22 años en ps4 y recientemente lo descargue denuevo para jugarlo a los 27
I hate frogs
The toads were always my favorite. "Wrrk?" [doink]
I like turdles
Hahahahaha!! Mee too.. Vrrakk doingg vrrrak!

Blaster Master and Bionic Commando as well...
Zelda too, Koji kondo is a genius. Just listen to the skyward sword theme backwards
Water world snes title them 👌
not only 90's, metroid prime also has some of the best ambient musics as well
@@Clepto_and_Co Koji Kondo was not responsible for Skyward sword soundtrack.

the best OST from all games. i love specially that soundtrack, it´s calm and inspiring
I love the anachronism. Not concerned with whether or not the breakbeat mesh well with the setting, but rather prioritizing the atmosphere and the music as its own art.
I disagree, the music fits with the cave 100%
The beat sounds like it's coming from a distance, resonating through a great space. Like maybe a cavern.

Magical is a good word to describe it. What a perfect game
This transition at 2:06 is just magnificent !!!
one of the most beautiful track of this great game !!!
I love 90' !
I thought I was the only one in love with this song's transition...

This bass line tho.... And this shocking Organ part sends me back to when i was 6 playing this game..i will always come back to this soundtrack
I also played this when I was 6 and I could never get past Slogra and Gaibon haha. I think I was too afraid of losing so I always died.
1:23 is the SINGLE HARDEST drop in a video game BGM EVER. I remember when i played as a kid i literally just stopped playing the game briefly game to jam to it. And its STILL a banger.....

this song can sooth a soul with its crystal teardrops

One of my favorite tracks from the game. Makes really good background music while im washing dishes or other things 😊

Fun fact: you save a pot roast from a swarm of angry octopus in this level.
Um jogo com mais de 20 anos e até hoje não fizeram um atual com trilha sonora quanto este game :)
Michiru sabe muito bem o que ela faz
Amo todas as trilhas sonoras dela
Order of Ecclesia tem uma trilha sonora muito boa também. Isso sem mencionar Lament of Innocence e Castlevania Chonicles.

Glad i play this game in 2016, never too late to play these gems. I picture the succubus seducing you while playing this theme.
Listening to this song reminds me when I used to look at that all white waterfall in the game. One of my favorite parts.

well you should play !! :D

Thank you for putting this up! What a great composition, it is really showing off sound capabilities of the ps1
how do you make such an insanely good piano part i wish this had better mixing omg
This part at 1:51 is missing in most videos in UA-cam except this one. This is the original soundtrack.
My favorite one
1:43 THIS is the true version. Also, this reminds me kind of a "Knights of the Zodiac" song...
The beginning always makes me think of the cave in the beginning of FF6. It's pretty similar.
