I can't thank you enough for posting this. I thought I was doomed to either buy a used seat or bite the bullet and purchase the thousand dollar plus new cushion. Sure enough I followed your video and it was almost exactly the same problem. All fixed. Thanks again!!!
Many thanks for the video. I pulled the cover back and saw the problem immediately. Bit of soldering and heat shrink, and I now have a nice warm seat bottom just in time for the cold weather.
My bottom seat heating stopped working. I already noticed exactly the same dent as you showed in the video. After removing everything from the front of the chair and loosening the leather I could immediately see the burned spot. I had to look carefully for the other wire its indeed very tiny. Now all I need to do is a bit of soldering with some heat shrink around it. Then the struggle to close the leather again with the circle thingy's. Thanks for posting this video great help!
Hall of fame hero, right there - THANK YOU. I have this problem on an F07seat and BMW sells only the entire leather piece with heating, its 1017 EUROS without installation. Unbelievable. I will try this out and get reply here once i am done but this gives me hope and you made a very detailed video so i think i can do it.
It worked! Was easy too with your very detailed instructions. I didnt have the aluminium foil, dont know if thats a big deal or not but i used the shrinktape and originally there was no aluminium either so i was hoping its not necessary. Do you think it will burn up without it? Yo either way, THANKS A LOT! As said, bmw in austria quoted 1007 euros without labor for this. Took me an hour... I am so grateful!
I did the same repair without al tape at my older vw many years ago and everything is ok so far. al tape is not important, i used it inly because i have it at garage. i dont think that connection can cause fire or something, as you see seat inlay is probably unflamable. Price is similar in eu.. insane..
Thanks so much for the video! Did exactly as per your instructions but when turning on the heated seats the one of the two wires stars to smoke. Most probably because of a short. Any advice?
i don't know, it's hard to say without seeing, generaly if cable is smoking it mean its overheating, maybe wrong soldering joint, maybe some single wires are broken under insulation - too big resistance = excersive heat.
i had the same problem with middle of the seat not heating, and tried to see if it's the same problem , and everything was fine there, but i measured the resistance of the seat and was ok, after i measured the resistance of the leg support boom:)) tried the one from passenger side on driver side and everything is working, so now i need to buy a new leg extension to solve the problem
i just did this repair exact as in the video and had burnt foam, broken burnt wire joined copper with fine black wire, but the base of drivers seat still not heating, back and base side bolsters heat up fine. strange. what else could be the issue, fuses? other part of the wire broken?
@@KarolisCv not really, the seat did heat up once or twice , I sold the car now didn't feel.like the right car for.me bought same make and model amd color but better had been cared for and good owner
Many thanks for posting this! I was searching for a video on this problem for quite some time now. I am sure mine has the same issue for the bottom part but can this be the reason why the back part is also not working? On mine, only the sides of the seat, back & bottom do work. Any reasons causing these wires to overheat? Maybe keeping the seat heating on for to long? Will tear my seat apart in the near future now that I know there is hope, so thank you again 😁
I'm having an issue with my F15/X5 where the bottom of the seat isn't heating (sides and backrest heat just fine). I would assume there is an open connection and there is a slight indent on the end of the end of the seat however my leg extension or thigh support as BMW calls it isn't motorized and I can't seem to figure out how to get the extension piece off. Any help appreciated - way more informative than the dealer wanting to replace the whole bottom half of the seat which I find crazy.
@@beckmarchiniak716 I haven’t had the time to rip apart the seat but I tested the ohms and there’s something funky with the butt heater pad when compared to the other seat. It’s higher on the ohms if I remember right
i was having the same problem, followed your steps, but no burn or electrical fault i figured out that thigh support pad was broken so it completes the circuit i guess bottom seat heat was not working becayse of that. Changed passenger side one with driver side and all fine
You saved me a lot of bucks ! Just fixed my seat with the guidance of your video ! Thanks 🙏

Hi I have different problem, my seat heat only sides of hole seat, only backrest sides, and seat sides are heating. What could be the problem?
I dont understand you, this is solution if part for your ass doesnt heat. Ak si z Česka napíš kľudne český.
Thanks for your great video also has the problem but your instructions helped me a lot thanks...✌️👌👍👍👍

Hi my seats stay on for 3 mins and turn off. Will this work? Thanks.
No, you have probably other problem
Wirklich fachmännisch ist das aber nicht wenn man nicht mal die Polster austauscht wo die Brandflecken drin sind
Bravo. I have the same problem.!!! Congrats 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Works great!
