Whether it's typing commands into Linux... or tying a cable with special knots to make a carrying handle... or accessing secret features... or (etc., etc., etc.)... you take the time to SHOW US HOW without even a shred of some of the self-aggrandizing self-congratulating narcissism we so often see elsewhere. If your subscriber count doesn't surpass the others within 3 years, I'm going to flush my laptop down the toilet. (I don't have a hat to eat.) 73.

Steve, what have you found different about the 2.0i firmware? I'm still tunning the h version.
So far nothing. Probably something internal in the coding. I did a quick look for release notes and came up empty. Last notes I saw on his page were for 2.00e.
Many thanks for your tips. Did you notice that - if you turn off the power as shown without removing the plug - it shuts down but still consumes about 30 mA and will soon empty your battery?

Got an tips for those with aging eyes who have trouble reading the tiny text on such a tiny screen? That's one reason I'm not picking one of of these up. Someone needs to create a 'headless' version of these transceivers that use a smartphone app to provide the screen and the controls.
The radio can be modified to use a bigger screen. Not the easiest job to do. What mode will you be running?
Cat/rig control worked for me with flrig (TS-480 radio) under linux on a raspberry pi. Not all the time, thoug! Under windows it is very flakey and I only got it working once. I heard DL2MAN say they use all the processing power they have when in SSB, so maybe that's why the CAT control isn't working as it should.
VOX works very reliable with FT8, though!
I can't get it to reliably connect at all. I can kinda understand the processing power issue.

Did you manage to get more transmit power out?
I didn't, but dl2man has a vid on how to do it.
Does this do the simplex HF channel, 29.600? I was thinking about buying one of these.
It covers by default 80/60/40/30/20m (alternative Filter Setups possible) so you'd have to change one of the filters to get TX on that frequency.

I can't get my to use the ft8 setting for cat....and Vox doesn't key in ft8 but everything works with Winlink....crazy what I doing wrong

BTW: I learned the hard way that you can't use mono cables to connect to your audio interface. You have to use stereo cables!
Experience is the best teacher!
Yeah I had to rewire a headset with a mic so that the mics sound comes out on the ring of the plug. Also made a remote ptt button for the headset.
