I grew up in Cloverdale, the tracks were practically in my back yard. 2 blocks from the old RR station in Cloverdale. Walked thru the tunnels many times as a kid.
This is a very beautiful layout well done, your scenic work and choice of colors is exceptional and it's a joy to watch trains running along the track. Regards tones1957 (New Zealand)
I grew up in the area between Petaluma and Santa Rosa during the 70s and lived a couple of hundred yards off the mainline. This was very pleasant and nostalgic to watch. Thanks.
Your SD's look great. I model the Paper Valley railroad in Wisconsin at our club and use old SP SD's as my prime motive power. Its really cool to see them in their original livery. Great job with the camera and a really cool layout! thanks for sharing.
A very nice video and layout. I have plans to expand my own HO scale layout, though as I'll be modeling the 1940s-50s steam era, I don't t think it will look quite as modern as yours.
Impressive indeed. I've always dreamed of creating a layout of my own. However when I see works of art like yours I get well a bit overwhelm! Like where do I even begin!? LOL!
Great layout and operations video. Thank you for the post. The videography is excellent. You used a tripod, didn't have people in the camera view and showed whole scenes instead of just having close-ups. Good stuff. You think you might do an operations video on Steve Hayes' Western Pacific or Otis McGee's Southern Pacific? Those layouts are amazing. I take you film layouts from the Bay Area. How often do you post clips on operations? I subscribed to your channel. Thumbs up! Keep up the fine work.
I am definitely considering doing Steve's layout, as for Otis, while I would definitely love to do a video(s) on his, I at the moment haven't really got acquainted with him. But I am definitely considering this for the future.
Nice layout, nice details and a good route. I like those "Cadillacs." I guess that line is abandon north of Willits, today? I know the southern section was rebuilt for public transit. I guess it's tough to get model trains to start/stop smoothly or really creep. None do. Seems like free rolling gearing would allow smoother creeping. Will the crossing gates/signals become functional?
Ashcan lights I believe are what they are nicknamed. All were replaced by Gyralights and Mars lights after a rebuilding program in the early 70's. From the top of my head the engines to have them were GP9s, SD9s, SD7s, H12-44's.

Very nice layout and video. These operational videos help me in my own layout construction. Thanks for sharing.
Dave's Trains thanks for enjoying and I’m glad that my videos are helping others in their layout construction

Those are some of the best looking lights I have seen. Did you put some after market lights in, or are they stock?
Soo oo very cool I love it
SP puts big spotlights on top of their locomotives?

You must love spending the conductors coffee but the hard couplings that you've been doing you need to slow it down and be more gentle.
Fun to watch
You need to do one of two things
Either start yelling at the camera
or get a microphone .
Other than that nice video
I heard him just fine
Check your crossing gates they didn’t work .
I got trains for sale.
