Moapa NV Warm Springs Save the Moapa Dace

This is one of my favorite places to go for a quick couple of hours of an adventure. If you come visit us when we are in Nevada, odds are I will suggest going here if we have a couple spare hours. This is a conservancy project area to preserve the endangered Moapa Dace. Apparently this is the only place on planet Earth they are found and they nearly went extinct. The area was used as a recreation area for many decades as people came to swim in the hot pools until it was owned by private owners. Portions or the area were sold to conservancy groups who created this recreation area to preserve the fish. More info on this is online and at the site. This area is in the middle of the desert but is a nice little oasis with walking trails and picnic areas. No fees, drive is about 1/2 hour from Mesquite or 45 min from Vegas. There is a little civilization near by, but not much so plan to pack a lunch or plan accordingly. There are restrooms. Most of the area would be easily accessed by wheelchairs or mobility devices. Trails are pretty short and easy. Basically flat, gravel paved surfaces as pictured in the video.
