Bryon also said that black people voted more conservatively during Jim Crow. Blacks were prevented from voting during that time.
Black people voted more conservatively before Jim Crow. Blacks were prevented from voting in the South during Jim Crow. However more blacks supported the party of Lincoln before FDR and the 1960’s
Poor misguided black man.
@@tony23aful Yeah, they supported the party of Lincoln before it morphed post Civil Rights movement into the white supremacist based steaming cesspool of racism it is become over the past 40+ years. 🙂
I saw this interview. Rev Al asked him, "What has happened to you?" He's toting water for the white guy. That's what happened to him.
Yup. Money corrupts. This guy sold his soul, essentially, for the perks.
so if he had said marriages where better in the 70 and 80s will the radical dem media have a problem with it?
It's ridiculous that the 5 Republican black men tried talking about, "The Black Family or People," ALL married to non black women!! Then, this fool said we all voted Republican ever though, WE COULDN'T VOTE UNDER JC!!
He's just a "Good Colored Boy", that's all you can say.
No doubt about it !
My mother and father are 77. This genuinely hurt their feelings. My Dad said we lost a lot....and a lot of people just so this young man could sit there and say this to someone who actually lived through Jim Crow south.
Sharpton keeps racism alive so he has a career. He is annoying.
@@MJCargile-or9ln racism doesn't have to be kept alive because it exists. It may be annoying to you because you didn't experience racism. You didn't use colored restrooms. You didn't have to look down when white women would walk pass. My mother's great Aunt was an actual slave. She was still living when my mother was a little girl. Racism isn't real for you....but it definitely exists.

No, "racism" was and is alive before and will be long after Sharpton. Don't be offended that he speaks on it and not try to sweep it under some rug somewhere like racists do; even the black ones who hate themselves attempt that and we all see and hear them doing so. Racism annoys me.

The problem is he used Jim Crow as a reference, which insinuates Jim Crow erra produced some sort of value
According to Donalds, it kept black families together so it was a good thing. He completely glosses over the suppression, the segregation and the hangings.
All of you are living in Jim Crow Era. Inflation is Jim Crow, Jim Crow is living off income based schemes
Jim Crow moved into all areas of the continent Jim Crow is not bad to talk about or forbidden to be spoken of. Advancing the racist agenda. Different tribal group other than his preferred one himself. Jim Crow exists in NY now and can be proven.

That's how you pass the MAGA test.
Sharpton is a con artist
Imagine you’re 45yrs. And never experienced Jim Crow, arguing about how things were under it, with a man who lived through it.
YES!
Byron Donalds should never mentioned Jim Crow. He should have stated that families were stronger from 1890 to 1950 and despite open racism and widespread poverty, strong black families used to be the norm. But the mention of Jim Crow was outrageous. White supremacists and the Far Right along with QAnon and all the other weirdos have and will excuse, defend and dismiss the tragedies of Jim Crow. Donalds’ mention and connecting strong families with Jim Crow era is going to be used to further write off the harsh history of that period. This is extremely worrisome when more and more school districts (especially in the South) are curtailing their history curriculum and eliminating their Civil Rights programs. We got young generations who don’t know about that time period. Who don’t appreciate the struggles and now hear from people like Donalds talking as if it was some kind of golden period of black families.
Yeah make it make sense. He can't 😢

The ignorance of it all is what bothers me. He doesn't understand how black people lived during that time. He doesn't even realize that Jim Crow began in the 1870s. He doesn't know that black men had to leave home and work away from the family to send money home and that black women had to work in white people's homes to make extra money. To him in the 30s-50s they had the black Brady Bunch going on and that's not true. Al Sharpton is right the divorce rate rose throughout all America and not just in the black community.
Did he not pay attention that the conservative criticism of blacks in the 1960s is the same thing he is spewing now? Jim Brown was on a talk show in the 1960s listening to this same crap coming from a Conservative Democrat.

Because clearly in the Jim Crow era, that was a low for racism in America, and yet black families stayed together without the help of white men.
Then unfortunately white men started interjecting their progressivism, and all Races started to lose the nuclear family, not just black families. Unfortunately though, the white progressivism disproportionately affected the black families more for the worse.

Wow Al Sharpton. Just facts. I'm a white lady and I understood every word that you said perfectly 🏆 he's playin games
Dangerous games....
With all his years and wisdom Reverend Al doesn’t realize that the vast number of people on this planet put their own self interest above the rest of humanity
Question: What is Donald's point in bringing up Jim Crow and black families were together? He can't seem to explain WHY he brought up Jim Crow which was a hateful time for African Americans.
Thanks Reverend for calling this creep out! And you totally caught him off guard will your question about 'What did Jim Crow do that helped Families?" Well done! Wow, B.Donalds words during this interview were same old...Deny, Deny, Deny! MAGA peeps might be stupid but the rest of the electorate are not.
Byron? Bro just apologize dawg!! You’re the one gaslighting with a lot of narcissism! There was no need to use JIM CROW as a an era of black families living in unity
But they were living in unity during Jim Crow, not because of it, but despite it! Put your feelings aside: what did he say that was FACTUALLY incorrect?
@@clifton6919invoking ANYTHING positive doing Jim Crow is asinine…Let’s not forget that interracial marriage during Jim Crow was illegal and punishable by imprisonment and in some cases death depending on where you were at that particular time. So black marriage was made stronger by the laws that forced black families to stay together
APOLOGIZE FOR WHAT??... HE DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING WRONG...I WHAT ARE U FOOLS HEARING!!... GOSH I SEE WHY HARRIET TUBMAN SAID SHE COULDN'T FREE MORE SLAVES THAN SHE DID...THEY WERE TO DUMB TO KNOW THEY WERE FREE
@@clifton6919EXACTLY... SOMEONE HERE WITH A BRAIN
@@KarlPostMalone the idea is that, even during a time where racism was at it's peak in many parts of the U.S., the black married family was at it's highest numbers. Then, a sharp decline after LBJ's Great Society policies. It wasn't by force that families stayed together, because many fathers left their families during that time. The culture was different. What was expected af a father and mother was different. The Great Society, inadvertently, helped to remove fathers from the home.
Donald needs to go! He is also disrespectful to Rev. Al
Extremely disrespectful and just a whiny crybaby. Ugh 🙄
"Qualified Immunity" is a TOTAL violation of "Equal Protection Under the Laws" that SPECIFICALLY applies to States in the 14th Amendment.
The Republicans are still blocking the police reform bill, and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act as Byron argues with Rev. Al.
Great point!
If "Qualified Immunity is good for one, it is Good for all!"
@@darrylblack6331
EXACTLY!!!!
What you don't understand is that Qualified Immunity only covers an officer's actions in performance of official duty. The organization is still open to suit by any party involved. If an officer acts outside of his officail duties, they can be sued personally. Ex., if a department does not allow vehicle pursuits for a stolen car, no exceptions, and an officer pursues a stolen car, and someone is injured/ killed, the police department can be sued, also, the officer can be sued, because they acted outside of their mandated duties. Look at the many frivolous lawsuits that occur. Why would you want to open yourself up to that just because you did your job?
"Go look at my words"...No, we HEARD your words! 😂
A reverend can NEVER speak to anyone else’s character. Not with what they believe
You couldn’t have
@@busterofcoviddeniersAnd you could with this silly comment?
@@blkplaya9891 what do you think you mean?
Gethim Reverend!!! Byron is so arrogant and disrespectful
Why are the TV News giving this Bryon Donalds PUBLICITY?.............MSNBC, plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, stop itttttttttttttttttttt!!!
60 year old white guy here. I have the utmost respect for Rev. Al Sharpton. Rep. Byron Donalds, Rev. Al chewed you up and spit you out for all the world to see. 🤗
AGREE!!
Rev. Al argued with a straw man. He did nothing. This is clear to anyone with a function brain.
@@WilliamEllisonRev. Al brought the receipts. That's how you got to talk to them clowns.
@@Communitylight2657 no, he did not. There were no receipts brought. We have the transcripts. Everyone knows what was said.
@@WilliamEllison Yeah I watched his speech and heard every word he said. The Rev. Al was right.
This guy thinks of he's so slick. No he did not explicitly say that Jim Crow was "good for black families," but by linking them together, he certainly implied that. Instead of correcting himself, he doubles down like the fool he is. 🙄
Yup
🇺🇲🛡🗽💙24
He doesn’t have sense enough to be shame. Too busy trying to get a foot in the door.
SHAME IS KILLING HIM NOW , BECAUSE HE GOT CAUGHT.
He could've said the era in the 50s.But he SPECIFICALLY said Jim Crow 5 times?
Maybe he can’t count!!!!
He had to send out a dog whistle to the MAGA base that racism is A-OK with him
OK
Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
